Dean said it while looking at Sams data. I took the quip as Dean's way of acknowledging that Sam took a whole lot of info that only made sense to Sam and came up with a successful solution. Like the Beautiful Mind mathematician solving complex equations on his white board. No I did not take it that Dean meant Sam was like movie guy in any way except he was super smart. I took it as a compliment. We will just have to agree to disagree.

Indeed.  As such, if you do decide to make a list of "compliments" and "insults", I hope you understand that those things are subjective and not entirely quantifiable.

  2. I have zero interest in a possible Carver return because his primary style was, IMO:

    • Drama for the sake of drama.
    • Shock for the sake of shock that wasn't particularly shocking.

His intent, it appeared to me, was making sure that people were talking about the show.  I prefer a show runner who wants to tell a good story, even if they're not 100% successful.  I never felt like Carver was trying to make a great show that people would talk about because they love it so much or because it was so good.  I always felt like Carver knew that the fans would follow the show no matter what, so he did some things that would generate outrage, get people talking, and potentially draw in new viewers.

    But mileage varies.

  3. I got bored and stopped counting after S6, but according to my records (which are in the Bitterness thread, if anyone wants to see the season breakdowns):

    Dean:

    • Said he was sorry to Sam 26 times.
    • Said he was wrong 1 time.
    • Said Sam was right 12 times.

    Sam:

    • Said he was sorry to Dean 22 times.
    • Said he was wrong 2 times.
    • Said Dean was right 7 times.

Maybe someday I'll start counting again with season 7, but I don't have the time right now.

  4. Really disappointed.  Mileage varies and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but these were the problems I had with the film:

    1. Rocket steals from the people who hired them.  The female leader of the planet spends the rest of the film trying to get their goods returned and she is portrayed as a villain for doing so.
    2. Either stripper or prostitute fembots, I couldn't figure out which.
    3. Quill gets angry with Gamora for, essentially, friendzoning him.
    4. One of the sources of comedic relief is a male character constantly berating a female character for her hideous appearance, even going so far as to almost becoming physically ill when he imagines having a sexual relationship with her.  One of the biggest laughs in my theatre was when he said that she was beautiful... on the inside.
    5. Nebula has hated Gamora for years because Thanos made them fight each other and Gamora always won.  Thanos then punished/improved Nebula.  But she always blamed her sister instead of her father.
    6. Peter Quill's mother was 'fridged.

The treatment of the female characters in this film was horrible.

Well at least the Banes family are likeable.  I'm surprised he didn't re-reanimate Tasha too.

Since her heart was already used on one "doll" and the witch who performed the magic was dead (something Rowena said earlier in the season could stop the magic), he probably couldn't have re-animated Tasha.

That was their hunters wall. Crowley and Rowena aren't hunters.  I guess they could kill Rowena.  But, I'm not sure they have the means to kill Crowley.  Maybe th BMOLs don't care that much about demons and ghosts because they aren't monsters per se.

Well, maybe they labelled it a "Hunter's Wall", but it looked more like "Winchesters and their Allies Wall" to me.  Didn't Garth stop hunting when he became a werewolf?  Are we supposed to believe that the people on that wall are the only hunters left in America?

Didn't one of the BMoL say they had eradicated all monsters and demons from the UK at the beginning of the season?  Which several people around here questioned because, if so, how did Bela make a deal?

Would they be able to kill Rowena though? When she came back to life after being killed by Lucifer I think she said it was a spell that she created to bring her back whenever she died.

But they don't know that.  I'm just curious why they don't seem to be trying to kill witches.

So, clearly Trisha (their Mom) was a natural. As is Max.  Alisha was a muggle

    Shouldn't she be a squib, then?  ;-)

    - Creepy Murder Room: Mission Impossible Style - had the 3 winchesters, Claire, Garth (!), and Eileen.

Shouldn't Crowley and Rowena have been on that wall, too?  What is the official BMoL position on witches, anyway?  Seems odd that they would kill every monster (and some hunters, too), but leave the witch and King of Hell alone.

I expected more rejoicing around here over the fact that Dean got the kill while Sam was getting his ass kicked.

I don't expect to see Max and the Alisha Doll again -- unless TPTB decide that Max has gone full evil and needs to be killed by Sam and Dean.  He certainly has to avoid them at all costs because one look at her and they would know what he did.

    All in all, not bad.

(ETA  BTW, the name Max automatically makes me think of Azazel's special kid Max from S1.)

I   disagree that it was an ensemble piece from the jump. It  was Abbie and Ichabod as the TWO designated witnesses and they had to save the world together. It was in the lore from the jump. They were working together like Mulder & Scully. It was the relationship between Ichabod & Abbie that drove the show with side helping of good supporting characters like Andy, Jenny, Headless Headless,  and the Orlando Jones character, who they inexplicably wrote out in a rather questionable manner as well.

Didn't say that -- I said it was more of an ensemble than SPN was.  And your list of characters in the show from the beginning backs up my point.  S1 of SPN had Sam and Dean, until Bobby and John showed up in the last few.

If you want see a case study in the reduction of, and subsequent terrible departure, one of two extremely popular co-leads and half of the duo that made the show work, look no further than Sleepy Hollow. Maybe I'm suffering PSHSD, but I don't like what is happening with Dean.

I tend to think apples and oranges here.  From everything I've read, Nicole Beharie wanted to leave the show.  Plus, it was only in its third season when she made that decision.  Sleepy Hollow was also, IMO, more of an ensemble from the early days than SPN has been.

I think that would be an apt comparison if Dean had died, gone to Hell, and never came back.  But forcing Jensen out now, after over a decade with Sam and Dean, would put the nail in SPN's coffin -- everyone involved with the show has to know that.
