And he figured out how to melt down Angel blades into bullets.
It's already been done. Season 8, The Great Escapist. Crowley melted down an angel blade to make bullets. He shot Castiel, which is how he got the angel tablet.
I don't think the spell worked. One, it took entirely too long. Two, the rift sealed after the nephilim was born. I tend to think that he sealed it. But I could easily be wrong.
I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed. Rowena deserved so much better. The best character they have created in years (IMO), and she didn't even get to fight for her life.
I'm tired. So tired.

Yikes, that was a close one. I don't want specifics on tonight's episode, so looks like it's time for me to mark this thread read until after the broadcast.

An announcement of a spinoff would be far more likely. Can't think of a spin-off I'd actually want to watch though.
I've been pushing for a Jodi/Mary/Rowena spinoff since last summer, I think. I would love to see those interactions.
Oh, and Donna for comedic relief! :-)

Hmm. They used to make us sing that in Sunday school. Are we finally getting Jesus? ;-)

Not sure he would advertise the end of the show as 'something exciting'.
Spinoff news?

I just think they've positioned them so both shows still live at the end of the battle. As a SPN fan, I'd love to see SPN get the best position on the battlefield and get all the glory. But if they lose the battle altogether, then there really is no glory to be got.
Okay, I don't think I really got there with that one. Sorry, I disappoint myself. ;)

Hee! I thought the relative newcomer was going to be Garth.

So, question. From TVLine's May Sweeps Preview:
QuoteAlso on tap: the returns of Jody Mills and her surrogate daughter Alex, and “two surprise appearances, one by a relative newcomer and one by an old favorite.”
Do we think this was Eileen? Or should we expect someone else?

RIP Chris Cornell. He was only 52. Crazy.

Arrow and SPN are back together, but flipped.

Perhaps it renders everyone powerless?

In this BuddyTV article (which covers a lot of what we've covered), they mention something a little strange :
QuoteAs per the Shaving People Punting Things teaser, everyone's lives are on the line. As we wait for Crowley (Mark Sheppard) to make his majestic resurrection, Castiel (Misha Collins) will square off with a shocking (and unseen) assailant, the Winchester bros. will battle their way out of the bunker, and everyone will have to confront Mary's (Samantha Smith) future as a Men of Letter's automaton.
That's an interesting interpretation. I went back to rewatch, in case I missed something and I was distracted. There's been a lot of focus on the mystery man's midsection, but has anyone noticed his walk?
Story-wise, my money is still on Crowley, but that doesn't look like Mark Sheppard's walk to me. It looks more like DJ Qualls. I'll have to do some more research to be sure, though....

Quote“We’re wrapping a lot of things up and certain plot lines will be ended this season — some forever and some temporarily — but also, that allows us to build up steam going into season 13,” Dabb says. “Coming out of the finale, people will have a pretty good idea of where things are going.”

Sorry, that was the conversation I was following - I incorrectly assumed you were as well.
Hi, I'm Demented Daisy. If I am speaking about a certain conversation or line of thought or scenario, I will quote it. Thank you. :-)

In Clueless's scenario, the time jump wouldn't be revealed until they make it back to our world, so would TVLine include that in their May Sweeps list?
I didn't mention Clueless's scenario. Why couldn't they do a time jump in the season finale?
-
I hate time jumps. That being said, TVLine still has one on its list that hasn't been filled in....

I do too, but sometimes when you've written yourself into a corner (and I think they've been there for quite a while now) it's the only way out. And it can be done well so that it works, even if you don't like the way they get there.
Perhaps, but I don't think they've written themselves into a corner this season.

I hate narrative cheats.
And unless Dabb wants his own Annie Wilkes, I highly recommend he not try it. ;-)

I assume then that you watch for other things which of course is fine. But would those tiny changes I suggested have actively detracted from your enjoyment? If not, and you have enjoyed everything else, then why not tick a few more boxes for people - particularly when not to to do that requires the writers to depict the brothers as ooc (the reunion in ep 2 being the most egregious example of this).
My point was that it doesn't have to be a zero sum game. It is quite easy to keep most factions of the fandom happy - and those who value the brothers bond are a pretty big faction who are pretty dissatisfied this year.
I watch for all kinds of reasons. Would it have detracted? Possibly. Again, that was the point of my original post -- I don't need to see it any more. I know. I've watched live since season 3. Almost a decade of angst is more than enough. I was good after season 5.
As for the part I bolded -- I'm going to strongly disagree. And leave it at that.

Here are some suggestions for how things could have gone slightly differently in s12 yet could have hugely improved this aspect;
*snip*
Tiny things that would have allowed the plot to unfold exactly as it has but with a proper recognition of how much these brothers mean to each other. Yes of course we know that but the writers shouldn't take that for granted and it only requires a bit more attention.
Personally, I don't need to see any of that. Which was the point of my post. To say what I don't need to see. :-)

Thanks. I assume this is the passage that people are talking about?
QuoteI read that the writers’ room wasn’t necessarily immediately on board with the idea of Lucifer jumping into the President. Why was that an important path, and did you have to do any convincing to get everyone on board?
DABB: Whenever something like that gets floated, it’s good that someone is like, “Wait, what?!” I’ve been in plenty of meetings on Supernatural where someone is like, “Oh, by the way, we’re going to send Sam and Dean back to the Old West,” and you’re like, “Wait, what?!” Or they’re like, “Oh, by the way, we’re going to send Sam and Dean to a world where they’re Jared and Jensen, acting on a show called Supernatural,” and you’re like, “Wait, what?!” Sometimes the best ideas, and a lot of the worst ideas, come from that. That encourages you to talk it out and find the path you want to go down, that could be fun. Once we internally decided that it was going to work for us and that it would be an interesting thing to do, the network and the studio were both extremely on board. The great thing about being on a 12-year show is that you have a ton of trust, and we have a ton of trust from our partners at Warner Bros. and The CW, so they were on board. It’s the discussion that happens, all the time and with every idea. Very rarely does an idea come through where you’re like, “Oh, that’s a slam dunk, definitely!” For us, when we did the math on the President thing, we knew what it was doing for us. We understand that it’s a big, “What the fuck?!” moment, but we actually like that about it and we were convinced that it wasn’t going to fundamentally change the show. We’re not becoming The West Wing. It was a really fun episode that was the climax of a storyline, and there will definitely be some ripple effects from it, going forward, but it wasn’t fundamentally changing the show. As long as the fundamental supernatural of Supernatural doesn’t change, we always feel like we’re in a good position, even if we take wild swings, once in awhile.
That sounds like an exchange of ideas, not:
16 hours ago, Idahoforspn said:If I remember correctly, the writers didn't want to do the President storyline but Singer and Dabb insisted. Shows the quality of their judgement.
Or:

Unpopular (possibly) opinion alert! Standard disclaimers.
I am so glad that S12 has been light on the whole "bro bond" story. These men are almost 40 years old. They've been working together for a dozen years. I have zero interest in seeing more stories of betrayal or lies or "I'll save you no matter what!"
I think the sheer fact that there has been no overt "bro bond" story is a testament to how strong their bond actually is.
