  1. I really can't decide if I think Roberta is horrible or not.  I think she's not very bright, and I think she is exceptionally immature for her age.  Telling Dannielle about the (can't possibly be all that) sexy times?  It's either mean, or it's just more evidence of her immaturity, a short-sightedness that says that if it's "honesty" it must be okay.

I don't get the disingenuousness that a lot of you see from Roberta, but I don't really know what I see (and I'm perfectly willing to let this play out more and draw new conclusions).   From my POV, again, Roberta's not very smart and she's immature, Dannielle keeps telling her how wonderful it all is and that's something Roberta would *want* to believe, and there's both a language barrier and the fact that they really don't know each other all that well.  Garrick ought to be able to see that Dannielle is in misery, but I'm not sure I can expect that from Roberta.

I think I literally let out a small scream when he said (in his own special, creepy way) "I need to have Roberta to MYSELF". He was practically licking his lips at the prospect of unrestrained sexytime with Roberta. And Danielle is being told that if she experiences any feelings of jealousy that that's a failing on her part. The thing that kills me is that she's buying it.

Danielle's self esteem must be six feet under ground. She tries to establish herself as the Senior Wife, makes little private jokes and references the past with Garrick, but he ignores her or belittles her. That Roberta is sitting back and allowing it is just as sickening. They might try to say they're "involving" Danielle in all the decisions regarding their upcoming "wedding", but what they're really doing is humiliating her and rubbing her face in her subjugation. It's disgusting.

I think this show is just my catharsis to dump all of my hate and stress on.  Not that it's not well-deserved, GARRICK.

I do think he is the worst of the lot just because there's so much underlying cruelty in his every utterance.

Eeeew.... but that is EXACTLY the vibe.  Add the "yes, sir" and.... ick ick ick.    I'm glad she stood up and was all,  "Yes, that's all well and good, but I'm STILL going to work."

There's more hope for Kaleh than for Dannielle.  I feel like Kaleh could still get out of her situation if it turns violent.  As for Dannielle, I'm actively concerned about her reaction to the continual emotional abuse.

I get the Johnny Depp thing - he has a pirate quality.

    Eh, it's the eyeliner.

And, Taylor?  That wasn't a "tingle" you were getting from Dmitri.  That was your bullshit detector making a last valiant effort to warn you off.  (Although I agree, she's in this for the screen time.)  She won't last long.  "We" saw some relationship red flags, says Ashley, to accompany her death stares, while Dmitri drools...

But thank God Ashley brought up the alkaline diet in case we forgot about her personal brand of crazy and controlling.  "We" are on an alkaline diet, says she.... yes, I'm sure Dmitri is terribly, terribly concerned about that.

Garrick is just a creepy pig.  He is already throwing Dannielle to the side.  Also, calling Roberta “Love” with Dannielle sitting right there was disgusting.  Giggling like an idiot in the interview totally made an ass of poor Danielle.   She needs to have an honest talk with that moron and tell him she is not putting up with his humiliating BS.  If they are planning a marriage ceremony in Mexico, are they going back there at some point for the wedding or are Roberta’s family rushing there during the 8 day trip?  I want to punch Garrick in the face.

SO punchable.  That giggling was horrifiying.  I can usually keep an emotional distance and just mock all of these people, but the Garrick hate is super strong.

And Dannielle "wonders" if Garrick cares more about Roberta's feelings than hers?  She WONDERS?  I want her to sit down and watch one of these episodes with all of us so we can open her eyes and feed her cake and tequila.

  5. Who would win the Ultimate Douche-off?  Sidian was ahead, but Garrick made a strong case for himself this week.  Laughing at Danielle not knowing he snuck in a quickie was disgusting.

Kaleh honey... just run.  Like @sainte-chapelle said, she is beautiful and hardworking and there's no way this ends well for her. Unless she is enjoying the drama of it all (something I cannot entirely discount)?  If that's the reason she stays then she deserves the serfdom she's signing on for.

FREE THE SNOWDEN CHILDREN from the emotional manipulation.  "Mommy won't love you if you don't love on every new woman we parade through here" would not surprise me one bit.

Is the Snowden kid (Nanu) named as an homage to Mork?

You'd think.  But it's probably one of the esoteric gods that only Ashley knows about with her Very Special Spirituality.

She wouldn't REALLY name her kid after the God of Vag Steaming.... would she?

The Insidious-WhatsHerName-Bartender conversation was so phony. Producers probably went in earlier, threw a few bucks at the bartender, told her what the plan was and she signed on the dotted line. Or even more likely, the bartender is really a production assistant who wants to pad her resume.

She's probably the one who set up those too-bright lights from behind the bar.  But the Obsidian Tool needed his spotlight!

Roberta is... not a Brazilian bombshell.

And Dannielle is not a large wife, but anything to keep her stomped down.  It's just so unnecessary.  Not only does Dannielle have to put up with this in the first place, she feels like she has to stoke her (ex) husband's ego about just how hot his side piece is.  (And they probably paid for Roberta's braces).

I just now got to the part where Danielle is going to stay in her own little tragic hotel room while Garrick screws Roberta.  Holy shit.  Ashley Snowden needs to jet over there and lay down the ground rules about exchange of body fluids during the "dating" period.

P.S.  I keep waiting and waiting for the scene where Ashley tells the new sister wives that they're vegetarian now.  That was my favorite moment from last season.

    Vanessa:  "Pardon me?"

I call producer shenanigans on the back-to-back hotel rooms.

And if your world would be improved by advice from ASHLEY SNOWDEN, it is 100% time to rethink your life.

Also, why do the Snowden children always hang all over the potential concubine when they just met?  Are those children lacking attention and love from the stern bossy Ashley and horndog Dimitri.

Ashley and Dmitri are so EASY to mock for all of their airs and pretentions (and I do!) but what they are doing to their children is seriously messed up.  I can just imagine how primed and pushed those kids are to love on these new people who show up temporarily... and then those people just disappear.

I laughed when Ashley assured the camera that Dimitri wouldn't be having sex with his latest side piece potential wife. We know how well that decree has gone over in the past.

And when she added that "he'd learned that lesson"?  GOLD.

  10. That fucker even made HER be the one to petition for divorce?  Only if it's in that divorce decree that Dannielle gets EVERYTHING, buddy.  After all, if this divorce really doesn't mean anything changes about your relationship, why not?  Right?

And oh, hey, Royal Clark Family:  Nothing says "healthy trio" like mean, whispery conversations between 2 people about the 3rd person.

  11. I've been really patient with this extra set of episodes, but this one.... the one redeeming feature was Jerry.  Jerry is the best.  We don't deserve Jerry.

Every time I say something nice about Jerry I know it just takes him one step closer to an undeserved death.

I only wish Carol was trying to trap the rat in order to put it in the soup.

What always strikes me about this show is how much most of the first wives have been forced/manipulated into agreeing to a polygamist marriage.

No, not manipulated!  They all PRAYED on--

    hahahahahaha... sorry, I can't.

I'm also struck by how many of these husbands are men who I am surprised that ANY woman married in the first place.  Maybe the first wives just figure that with someone else in the picture, that's 50% less time she'll have to deal with him.

The Snowdens are just a ridiculous self-aggrandizing sideshow.

I was tired, but I think he said the oldest and youngest lived with him, but his middle child was living with her mother.  He didn't say she lived with his ex so did he have an affair that produced the middle child?  I could be really wrong about that as I was waiting for a text message that the IRS had accepted our tax return which did finally happen.   He really creeps me out.  Not as much as Dmitri, but close.  Tosha is cute, but she seems nearly as dumb as the woman who is letting her husband divorce her for the woman from Brazil.

The only thing I can think when I see Sidian is "tool".  Sidian is a tool.

As for Tosha being dumb... she actually stated that after the first wife had the sense to leave, she would come by just to cook and clean for Sidian and the boys.  Oh, HONEY.  Listen to yourself.

I think both the Brazilian woman and the South American woman are good looking and could certainly find other relationships.  Maybe they're crazy.  Or maybe they're not... and one of the things that makes this show so much fun is that none of these preening, self-deluded polygamists ever stop to think about any of the many, many possible reasons someone would want to join them ON A TV SHOW.

  16. While they're still doing some monumentally stupid things... like @OoohMaggie noted about the shipping container struggle... I've still missed these people.

Well, some of these people.  The people we had time to get attached to.  Pretty much anyone post-Jerry is just "yeah, whoever" to me.

I liked the episode, I liked hearing Maggie talk about people from the past, and damn did casting and costuming do their job with making Hershel a total mini-Glenn.  Which totally got to me, because I'm a sap.

It would have been the best moment of the series if Maggie, upon seeing Negan, had just unleashed her knife again right between his eyes. That could have been the end of that.

  17. Claudia Conway was nowhere near the level of the others who went through, but Katy needed to make sure we all know how awful she thinks Claudia's parents are.  Unfair to Claudia, unfair to everyone.  And Claudia makes weird faces.

As for crying girl, I didn't love her voice but she really got to me.  I hope she's able to have that effect on people when she's not singing something so deeply personal.

I loved Country Boy who Luke sang with and the girl in the orange dress (looks up name... Nia... freakin' amazing).  As for the last girl, I thought Natural Woman was a much better song for her than the first song she sang, since that first one was just all over the place out-of-control.  The advice to the girl with the Navy dad seemed spot-on and I hope she heard it.  I liked her a lot but she needs some more polish.

I found the cute-boy "I just started singing last year!" to be entirely boring and mediocre.  I disagreed with the judges on Jason Warrior and the woman with Tourette's, neither of whom really did much for me.

The fact that Will and James gleefully said "it's going to be so fun seeing Gary and DeAngelo run in heels" was just spiteful... like they were saying "they are big manly men and they're going to be all ewwww about wearing women's shoes".

Yep, that made me hate Will and James even more than I already do.  "Stereotype, stereotype, stereotype, Gary & DeAngelo will feel so emasculated HEEHEEHEEE."

Gary and DeAngelo:  High heels?  Okay.  Don't give a crap, let's get on with the task.

And speaking of G & D, I thought taking the penalty was the strategy that made the most sense.  At that point they had no idea how much longer this thing was going to take, all they knew was that the other three were sticking together.  It was plausible it could have taken the other teams more than two hours to finish since there was no way of knowing if anyone was actually making any progress.  It had to have seemed more likely at that point than the two of them just happening upon the right combination.

Although I really like the "stick like glue" idea someone upthread proposed.

I didn't see Hung asking Chee if he was mad as berating him. She knew she fucked up by helping the NFL guys again and she knows that Chee tends not to communicate. When she asked if he was mad about what she did, I thought she was acknowledging that she did something wrong and she was giving him a way to say he was mad about it.

She knew that he wouldn't just blurt out that he was mad (they have both discussed that he is not very communicative) so it seemed to me like she was giving him an easier way to express his anger. As someone who is not always as communicative as I could be, I know that answering a yes/no question can be more comfortable than having to make a statement about my feelings.

Yeah <shrug>, I'm just not hating on Hung.  As for the whole 90 seconds thing... yeah, it's abrupt, but it's also brutally pragmatic.  Fighting between yourselves is not going to get the race won.

I'm saving all of my hate for Will & James.  They are so in love with themselves with absolutely no sense of self-awareness.

I thought it made sense for the Blondes, for their own race, to use the Yield.  They didn't know how far behind Leo & Alanna were.  I'd written them off since the beginning, but now I am rooting for them and hoping their luck holds.
