  1. I kept seeing articles about Creative Arts Emmy winners popping up and thought to myself Wow, when did they start handing those out in the summer? Then it dawned on me fall is knock, knock, knocking on the season door and next month is October. Congratulations to all the winners.
  2. Higher Love is a favorite of mine. R.I.P. Will Jennings.
  3. In my post, I included the program shift to Bravo along with A&E. Today, knowing how certain channel's abbreviations came about, remains the only clue of its original content and purpose.
  4. I miss - HLN - when it was Headline News and rotated news/weather/sports/entertainment. TLC - when it was The Learning Channel and featured educational content. AMC - American Movie Classics showing uncut movies. It's why I know Nick Clooney outside of being Rosemary Clooney's brother and George Clooney's father. A&E - The Arts and Entertainment Channel, along with Bravo, showcasing the arts. The History Channel being about History, even though it mainly focused on WWII. The Food Network being about food. The Travel Network being about travel. Is The Biography Channel still around? I used to love their historical biographies.
  5. Ah, James Darren. Gidget Goes Hawaiian used to pop up on television all the time during my younger days. I believe TCM shows it occasionally now. I can hear Darren's voice singing: When the Gidget goes Hawaiian, she goes Hawaiian all the way. BTW I was an adult when I fully realized what Moondoggie was implying. Shame on him! I'll also admit I totally shipped Darren's and Heather Locklear's characters on T.J. Hooker. James Darren was yummy in his turtleneck on The Time Tunnel and the man still had it in the 2017 film Lucky. May he rest in peace.
  6. Televison: 1) Theme music so good, they went beyond their respective shows to become jazz classics. Henry Mancini's Peter Gunn and Lalo Schifrin's Mission Impossible are the first that come to mind, but I know there are others. 2) 30+ episodes per season. Yesterday's television shows that only made it to two seasons are the equivalent of today's four. 3) Streaming services really should offer creators the chance to do fully realized "miniseries" instead of cancelling a series after one year. 4) OTOH, syndication seems to have made writers (hopefully) more aware of not only continuity but not repeating the same line episode, after episode, after episode. As much as I love original recipe Perry Mason, you could play a drinking game every time his client whispered, "They were dead when I got there." Films: I'm thrilled after the Fox News/Fox Entertainment split, Alfred Newman's fantastic 20th Century Fox Fanfare survived.

  10. I hope authorities are examining foreclosure records of anywhere and everywhere Lisa Findley stepped foot in. The brazen attempt to steal Graceland - and almost getting away with it! - tells me this ain't her first time at the scammer's rodeo. Ping me if a podcast/documentary/book/American Greed episode comes out.
  11. I had a hard time deciding where to link this article. It's not a celebrity milestone nor one acting badly. I guess it is "wacky" in the sense this woman attempted to pull a scam to foreclose on property as well-known as Graceland. Woman charged in multimillion-dollar scheme to steal Graceland. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/graceland-fraud-missouri-woman-charged-scheme-sell-landmark-1235977100/ https://deadline.com/2024/08/missouri-woman-charged-scheme-steal-graceland-presley-family-1236042694/ https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/16/entertainment/elvis-presely-graceland-arrest/index.html
  12. TCM Remembers Gena Rowlands
  13. As bad as the assistant was, it was the attitude of the doctor's - which included making jokes about Perry paying for their "services" - that really got me. R.I.P. Matthew Perry.
  14. Wow! I recently watched the episode Pride and Joy on Law and Order and wondered what happened to the actor who played the son. Now I know.
