@Booney, are you my long-lost sister???  I can't believe there was anyone else who thought Moe was the bee's knees, lol!!!!  To this day I still cannot explain the attraction....

Get this -- my late father was a Bud Abbott lookalike, so much so that I actually thought Dad was an actor in Hollywood before moving to the Bronx and raising our family.

I never got into (so to speak) Peter Lawford but he was definitely dreamboat material in the mid-forties whenever M.G.M. needed a young, handsome, "aristocratic" looking Englishman to add "prestige" to their movies.

But the biggest crush I ever had -- and probably still do on some level -- was Bela Lugosi.  Ever since seeing him in a Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine at the local candy store/hamburger joint back in da Bronx, I was instantly smitten.  It was a photo of Bela as Count Dracula and I was mesmerized.  It wasn't so much the character as I am not attracted to vampires but Lugosi himself. Like Moe, I still haven't figured it out.  I accumulated an extensive collection of rare photographs of Bela from his films and private life, and when I lived in Los Angeles corresponded with fans who actually knew him.  One of them sent me HIS BATHROBE (authenticated) which I slept with for years.  I met Bela's lawyer son. (spitting image)  I had to miss a Bela Lugosi convention one year because of the flu and I was devastated.  I missed seeing Carroll Borland (Mark of the Vampire) and wife number four Lillian.  To this day I feel bad.

Oh, I also had the hots for Paul Muni.

OMG! Another fan of Bela the man instead of just Bela the Dracula actor. I always thought he was so handsome and charismatic (and his son is too!). I envy your collection of memorabilia and your contacts with his fans.

LOL I told my mom I didn't like doctors. They're bad luck. Whenever you talked to one they'd find something wrong with you. I was about 5 watching Dr. Kildare. As I got older, I figured out it was written in the script that way.

Richard Chamberlain was wonderful in "Shogun". I watched it only because RC was the main character. It was a brutal movie, but I liked him in it. He was good in "The Thorn Birds" and as Allan Quartermaine in "King Solomon's Mines".

I was a huge Chamberlain fan too! I loved him in Shogun and Thorn Birds. Has anybody read the books? They're great. Shogun by James Clavell, and The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough. I've read several of Clavell's novels, and I want to start reading McCullough's other novels.

  3. About the wonderful smell of new crayons: I always loved that too. Taper candles smell just as good. I don't burn candles any more because I have overly curious cats (singed whiskers), but I keep some tapers in a drawer so I can take them out and smell them once in a while.

I went shopping today for some capri length pants. With my figure, shorts are no longer my friend. I usually wear knee-length denim skirts in the summer, but they can be awkward when sitting, if you catch my drift. I decided to do brick-and-mortar shopping and I'm glad I did. I went to Boscov's (those of you in PA or the mid-Atlantic area know this chain) and got a fabulous deal on capris. The brand is Salem Straits (probably a Boscov's house brand), they're 100% cotton, drawstring waist, "pork chop" pockets with a cute button detail, and the perfect length, although two of the pairs have a roll tab so if I want to cuff them to shorten them a bit, I can. I got four pairs - black, khaki, army green, and navy. The best part - they were on sale for $9.99 and I had a 15% off coupon, so each one cost me $8.50!! I saved so much money, I got this top in a couple of different colors at $18 a pop after sale discounts and my coupon; also 100% cotton, great for hot days:

    I don't think I could've gotten a better deal online!

    That color is gorgeous!

It's nice to see some friendly names.   I know I had a box bigger than 64 crayons but I don't know if it was that big!

Is it ok to post about gardening?  I wanted to know if anyone has experience with red salvia.

I plant red salvia every year. Also like to use mixed color salvia (white, purple, salmon). Salvia likes sun. My yard is part shady, but the flower beds get about eight hours a day of full sun. (You can grow it in a pot too, on a sunny patio.) If you keep the dead salvia bloom stalks trimmed off, it will look better and bloom more. It keeps blooming until frost.

This is sort of a carry-over question from the last episode, & I'm sure I missed it, but I was thinking that the reason Kimmycakes got mad that Scott had that nasty whore in his room, was because it was actually Kim's room/trip, & Scott was kinda tagging along & staying with her. I'm no fan of Kim, but it is kinda tacky for Scott to come along on a trip with Kim, Kourtney's sister, regardless of the room arrangements & hook up with a girl, & then not shuttle her out of his room before he got caught - this is multiplied because there is an entire camera crew there, looking for drama. It'd be like Kim & Kanye separating/divorcing, then Kim being invited on a trip with Kanye's family & hooking up while on the trip & trying to hide it, but getting caught, which would never happen, because Kimmy is the best spy ever. She went waaaaaaaay overboard, completely mishandled it & treated that girl (who may not have even known anything about whom he really was, we don't know her story) horribly, to the point of verbal-assault, with the potential to become physical assault, considering she was ready to break in the door, then bragged about it like the trash that she is, but in my opinion, Scott really was in the wrong first, which caused the whole thing.

Now, this family trip to Costa Rica, I think is different. He's staying at a different hotel, he's not parading the girl around them, it's not the best idea to bring a girl & not tell them, but I think it's less tacky than just a random hookup that didn't wake up early enough to get out of the shared house/room/hotel, which for a Kardashian family member or hanger-on, is a big step up.

Off to shower for slightly defending Kim...

Wasn't that girl-in-the-room thing scripted? She could have been hired to play that part. Even if she wasn't hired ahead of time, she would have had to sign a release before the show could use any footage of her. Somebody commented earlier that she was filmed leaving the room empty-handed, not even having a handbag.  Totally unrealistic. That sounds like a scripted, rehearsed thing, where they were doing several takes trying to get it right. That means she would have received a paycheck for her participation in the show. (Yes, I'm very cynical about this family and their show.)

Kanye West is making new album at top of mountain in Wyoming... after being absent from Met Gala with wife Kim Kardashian

Kanye West is reportedly making his new album up the top of a mountain.

The 39-year-old controversial rap star has apparently taken himself to a remote mountaintop retreat in the US state of Wyoming to record his next LP according to TMZ on Tuesday.

Kanye, 39, has spent the last two weeks at a recording studio on the mountain, having recently enjoyed two other creatively productive spells at the retreat.

That sounds like a good plan. He can have some peace and quiet to concentrate on his work, far away from the Kardashian circus.

I thought this thread would be hopping. We like to talk about lots of things, but are rather quiet here. LOL

Anyhow, I wanted to tell about something weird that happened. I was watching the news last night. One of the lead stories was a young couple had been killed in a car accident. They were on their way to the airport about 3am. Their car was hit by a drunk driver. The young couple was killed but the drunk driver survived. I mention this because when they showed the picture of the young couple I recognized them. I mean, I don't know them personally, but I helped them last week where I work. We talked for several minutes. They told me they were leaving town in a few days and were buying gifts for their family. The intersection where their car was hit is about 4 miles away so I probably heard the emergency vehicles that night.

There's been lots of death in my family so it's certainly not the first time I've known someone who has died. It's weird though. I guess I'm still thinking about it because they were such a young couple in their mid 20's. Now they're gone.

That's awful. First you try to go into denial by saying things like "but I just talked to them a few days ago," and then it sinks in... they're gone.

It always makes me livid when a drunk driver survives a fatal accident he caused.

Right. If we are to believe Kourt and Scott are broken up, that Scott is a sex addict, that they are all pissed at him for bringing "whores" on family vacations and is back to out of control drinking.....now Kris chooses to have a show with him. It just proves how much of KUWTK is truly bullshit. (ALL OF IT)

Absolutely. It also proves (yet again) how much Kris loves a money-making opportunity.

  10. In that picture, you can see that Kourtney has a much nicer, better-proportioned figure than Kim. If Kim hadn't gone hog wild with the butt injections, big boob implants and other alterations, she would still look that good too.

Moved this over to Small Talk.  How about these fakes? $12 Ebay. Including s/h.  It's just for fun but I'm realizing that LR's new venture must be exhausting for little reward even with those inflated prices and an inflated head.

What the fresh hell??  Is she practicing having someone drool on her?  I'd say she got caught unprepared, to put it lightly.

Maybe that's another one of those "distressed" designer outfits. Comes pre-stained with faux baby drool.

True, MamaCarpeDiem's giant orange tabby, Butterball, had kidney disease.  She lived to be 19 and died a couple of months after my mother.  She missed my mother so much and would lie on her hospital bed until the hospice came and took it away.  Then she'd wander around like she was looking for her.  She and my Bella became good pals and would lie in the sun together.

I had another sweetheart, Frosty, a big pure white male with bright blue eyes who also passed away from it at 16.

Poor animals. They don't understand what happened when their "person" is gone.

I contracted shingles when I was 40. I didn't realize what it was. I first had bad back pain right at my lumbar spine (that can be an early symptom). I thought I had pulled my back. About three days later, the sores broke out around my waist on the right. I didn't connect the two, since I had no idea what shingles were at that time. I thought I had contact dermatitis from laundry soap or something. Fortunately, my annual physical was within a day of the sores breaking through, so I was within the time limit to get on Valtrex. I had a miserable couple of weeks (frozen peas on the sores helped a lot), but no lasting effects. I did have an odd sensation for a few months afterwards at the site of the sores; sort of like running water over my skin. Not painful, just weird.

I haven't gotten the shingles vaccine yet. I'm about four years from my 60th birthday, so will probably wait until then.

I got the vaccine.  (Over 60.) I had chicken pox when I was 16, horrible case, so I figured I could get shingles. My husband had shingles on his face (temple area) many years ago, and he still has dark discoloration on his skin. He was lucky it was not closer to his eyes, because shingles can damage your vision. I've talked to a few people who had shingles on their torsos, and they said the pain is terrible; some of you here (other thread) have also described the pain. I know the vaccine isn't 100% effective, but I hope it protects me. That's the same risk we take with flu shots and pneumonia shots -- not 100%, but a lot better than nothing.

Yes, that's apparently what they've done. It makes me wonder why, did the stylist do something, or is this part of an attempt to make people stop thinking of them as "Kardashians" & more as different people?

They'll never come across as individuals in their style, because their joint style standard is "Show as much T&A as possible."  Especially the A part.

They copy each other and try to outdo each other in showing their privates. For example, Kourtney and Kylie are both wearing  "underboob" tops now.

And we now know the trajectory of Megyn Kelly's career . . . tabloid tv it is . . . "ET special guest reporter Megyn Kelly . . . " "E News exclusive from Megyn Kelly. . . " "Reelz TV exclusive with Megyn Kelly. . . "

NBC paid all that money to get Megyn --- for this??? She starts off going straight downhill, interviewing the Kardashians.

  17. Maybe she won't be heading back to Malibu -- she might be headed for Washington, D.C. She's considering running for office, maybe Congress. Nothing definite, just something vague she said during an interview.

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/25/politics/caitlyn-jenner-run-for-office/

"Caitlyn Jenner: 'I would seriously look at a run' for office"

"Caitlyn Jenner told an audience Tuesday night that she would consider running for public office during an interview promoting her new book.

"Jenner, a Republican who came out as transgender in 2015 and says she voted for Donald Trump, told a crowd at the 92nd Street Y community center in New York City that over the next year or two, she will look at where she thinks she could be more effective: On the inside of government or from the outside working with her foundation...

"... Jenner, an Olympic gold medalist who previously was known as Bruce, says for years she was approached after speaking gigs by fans urging her to run for office. She told the audience with a laugh, "I've got way too many skeletons in my closet," but now, she says she has no more secrets... Jenner reaffirmed her Republican leanings, saying that she's always "believed in something called the Constitution and limited government," and that the GOP leans closer to limited government than the Democrats, in her opinion..."

Some articles I saw said she'd run for the Senate, but the CNN article didn't mention anything that specific. Whatever office she'd pursue, I'm not sure she would get very many votes from Republicans (or Democrats either, for that matter).

  18. 1 hour ago, Bazinga said:

The New York Post version of the interview is not at all flattering to Caitlyn.

Caitlyn Jenner kept rudely interrupting Kelly Ripa on 'Live'

Geez, how awful. "At one point, Jenner even turned the tables on Ripa, asking when she first identified as a female. 'Just think about that,' she said, pointing her manicured finger at Ripa. 'When did you know you were a girl?' "

Incredibly rude. When people ask Jenner about her personal life, she often frowns, growls "Don't go there," and refuses to answer. Yet she feels free to ask Kelly such an inappropriate personal question, on live national TV at that!

"Of course, Jenner wasn’t merely content being a guest on the morning show. 'I want to win the best-entrance contest at the end of the year,' Jenner immediately proclaimed upon sitting in her chair."

Best entrance? I realize she was being sarcastic, but still, WTF? What the hell difference does it make how her "entrance" looked? Who does she think she is, Loretta Young coming through the doorway?*

*(That's a reference other older people will get -- The Loretta Young Show. Each week, as the show began, she came swooping through the doorway in a fabulous dress.)
