  1. http://deadline.com/2015/12/tv-guest-actors-pay-recurring-regulars-guest-stars-1201669407

Really interesting article on how actors get paid these days.  This might inform some of how Misha, Ruth, and Mark Sheppard are handled in the show...And why Jensen and Jared stick with it like they do. It's mostly about day players and guest stars but it's really interesting overall. IMO

Wow! That was eye opening! Reminds me of an article I recently read about NFL players and the franchise tag.

Thanks catrox! You post some of the most fascinating stuff!

  2. Hmm.  Interesting.

To your first point, I don't think any outcome is predetermined.  A child will certainly be tempted by something set before him, but the child still makes the choice to eat or not.  It's subconscious, but the reward outweighs the punishment in the child's mind if he eats.

Now, here's where things get all metaphysical.  ;-)  God gave man free will, IMO, simply because he gave them the ability to make a choice.  All the temptation in the world will mean nothing if God didn't imbibe in humanity the ability to choose.  It may not have occurred to Adam and Eve that they could eat from the tree, but the innate knowledge must have been in their subconscious.  Otherwise, when Lucifer suggested it, they would have had no idea what he was even talking about.  He would have been speaking a foreign language to them.

I'm trying to think of a concrete example of that nebulous idea, but I am coming up blank.  Probably because I can't describe something I have no knowledge of.  Okay, this is an incredibly flawed metaphor, but I'll give it a go.

Kummerspeck is a German word of which we have no equivalent in English.  Literally, it means "grief bacon".  Wha-?  You understand the two words, but I'd be surprised if a non-German speaker would understand what "grief bacon" is trying to convey.  It sounds like emotional overeating, or the food you eat when you're feeling particularly emotional.  But, no, it refers to the weight we gain due to emotional overeating.  We understand the idea of emotional overeating, but not the idea that the weight we gain from it should have a word of its own.

So, kind of like that, Adam and Eve must have had a subconscious understanding of choice without knowing the literal meaning of it.

Sorry, I'm not making any sense at all.  This is why I should never be a writer.  I have difficulty finding words that convey what's going on in my head.

Just read this, and I loved this Demented! It adds so much to the interpretation of the story. Thanks!

  3. neverforgottenadam, if you like Omegamom's writing, check out Aweson04000's stuff, and 7kstar. They both are outstanding when it comes to fan fic!

Watch out for Omegamom's past stories though, read them in daylight, trust me!

  4. I can understand why you were reluctant to write this one Omegamom, but for me, it added so much to the story! I've always wondered what was going on in Sam's head, and I think you nailed it! Thank you!

Oh, and thanks for not frightening me to death! Merry Christmas my friend!

  5. Okay guys! Gotta call from little brother last night. He and his son saw the new "Star wars" movie last night in NYC. They LOVED it! (David has an in, he knows the theater management) According to my sister-in-law, they've both reverted to eight year olds! (We have this theory, all men, no matter what age, act twelve or eight, depending on the circumstance) David is such a "Star Wars" freak he has about one hundred figurines STILL IN THE BOX! Now it seems the freakiness has passed to a new generation!

Seriously, David told me it was as good as the first one. I can't wait to see it!!!!

  6. 7kstar, I remember reading a book long ago (I read too much and can't for the life of me remember the title) anyway one of the characters was a mystery writer. When ever she got "writer's block" she would practice murdering people in her town she hated, including a rich old family from town. The Mother of this family loved to needlepoint, and often stuck herself with the needle. So our writer had the daughter hide all her mother's thimbles, and than poison her mother's needle with some horrible poison! The death scene she wrote was hilarious! The writer knocked off practically everyone in town at least twice!

  7. "Like Don Draper, you are moderately nefarious. You walk on the dark side of humanity, but your ruthless streak may just help you get ahead."

Well, I do enjoy a cocktail at lunch!

Dot, you're a sweetie! Stop trying to deny it!

The test is just afraid of Demented! Self-preservation and all!

  8. Well, sometimes I just get excited!

But we could work out a way to merge Supernatural and Bates! The mind reels!

Let's see... Rowena is Norma's sister, which would make Crowley Norman's Grandfather....see, it works!

  9. nothing to see here.

I'm sorry for any offense my snark caused. I don't want to contribute to this being an uncomfortable forum for SPN peeps.

Aw hell catrox, you know we all love you! Things getting heated is half the fun of this place, and it is all just fun!

Yes, it's a variant on yellow-crayon but I expect much more action to transpire before she comes round to this way of possibly thinking.  IDK... we'll see.  But bottom line: I think God is going to avoid a direct power battle because of collateral damage

    .

Stay crazy SueB! You give us all hope!

So much going on in this thread these past few days, I'm having a hard time keeping up! But I'm lovin' every minute of it!

  10. Oh Dear, that sounds frightfully positive and...well...downright perky. I'm not sure how I feel about being thought of as ::shudder:: positive, let alone perky. ;)

Just go with it Dot! After all SueB is our resident "Perky" around here. She could probably use all the help she can get!

  11. I just reread the transcript for Meta Fiction and it's ill-defined.  Castiel and Gabriel's interaction was created by Metatron, but did he create Gabriel or use him?  Neither Gabriel nor Metatron ever says with any certainty:

After that, they don't mention Gabriel again.  We do know that Metatron and Gadreel used the Horn of Gabriel to lure angels, which might have included Gabriel.  I think an argument can be made for either side.

Daisy, thank you for posting this! I have a lot to think about!!

  12. If I didn't love you already SueB, this:

I'm applying the Emily Post rules of etiquette to what I consider an obvious production gaff.  So THERE. *flips hair melodramatically*)

    would do it!

That aside, I like your timeline. Better than the writer's managed. But that sadly doesn't surprise me! And the bus bugged the hell out of me!

  13. From the recap:

Sully's appearance also gives us a chance to see little Sam coping with little-brother loneliness and the truth that, even though it has meant a scary path, being a hunter is a gig he was not only steered toward but chose for himself -- just as making a tremendous self-sacrifice by entering the cage again is one that he is committing to a little more every week.

Guys, our recapper isn't getting enough love around here. This is the stuff that keeps this show alive here! Show a little love!

  14. I'll lift you up catrox! I got involved in a "Big Sister" program through Mick's friend Hayward. I've been spending time with my "little sister" and having a blast! We've been shopping and horseback riding, and this weekend we're making Christmas cookies! Her Mom does shift work in a nuclear plant down in southern Idaho, so has little time for her. I feel like I'm making a difference, and it's wonderful!

Now I'm going to turn her into a NFL fan!

  15. Just got here, busy days. Time with my little sister (Hayward got me into it. Good program, great kids!)

But now I wish I had an imaginary friend growing up! I feel cheated!

  16. I got a Bert and Ernie thing. Honest to Gods, I wonder if they will pose as a couple for this case...which I'm gonna laugh my ass off if they do.  Not saying that will happen but shit that would make me laugh and would harken back to Bugs when they allowed people to think they were a couple or at least didn't bother to disabuse them of that notion.

From a few pages back, but then I read this from EW:

Ackles adds: “ ‘Just My Imagination’ is really fun. I felt like I was on a sketch comedy show doing the show. One week I’m having a fight with two people inside the backseat of a car, and the next week I’m killing ghosts or saving somebody from pending death, and then the next week I’m in a room with an imaginary guy who’s dressed up like Bert and Ernie and we’re just riffing and having these awesome funny dialogue scenes.”

    You two are connected somehow!
