  1. Anna Mueller was fine but she had zero chemistry with Reese, which was glaring after his big chemistry-with-the-ladies ep from last week, and I'm not talking romantic as much as just interactive. Root has no romantic chemistry with Reese but their twenty second exchange at the conclusion of the show was a highlight. I did like the way he was almost (for him) eager with his, "Hey, Root. You comin' back?" and she was essentially, "Peace out, Big Guy. Gotta grab this computer and do some mysterious work. See ya soon." I do want more interplay between them, it's like finding an untapped vein of gold.

It was nice to see Bear again, however briefly. Bear makes everything better.

As far as the past two Shaw-free and (mostly) Rootless episodes go, 'Guilty' was light-years better in that it was actually quite good. This one? Not so much.

Agreed. Claire is good in theory but the actress isn't strong enough to make her a compelling recurring character and Anna was ok but just didn't connect as much last week. Reese has a decent rapport with pretty much every one but last week was a highlight for sure. He's got a great patient/therapist dynamic with Iris (really hoping it stays that way and she's not a plant/ potential romantic partner) and he and Zoe have always had a spectacular chemistry both as working partners and romantic styles. Maybe if this episode had aired first and Guilty after it wouldn't have felt so flat.

I don't expect every episode to be gold, it's on network TV. There's always going to be one or two meh episodes. Root was too brief and Finch had a nice moment when he was interrogating Claire. Just wish he would have stuck to it.

  2. Binge watched the last 5 episodes over the weekend. When this show wants to bring it, it can. And was very happy they let us know Shaw's fate. I'm Excited for the end of the season. But this was a filler EP, but I did watch this last night because I love Zoe. It was great seeing her, Reese and Finch working together. Curse The 100 for limiting her availability! Anway it would have been kind of a dull one without her.

I echo the uneasiness with Reese and Iris as a romantic pairing. He was all trying to keep Fusco away so he'd be safe and telling Finch no newbies, yet he's interested in someone who has no idea he's a vigilante working with a billionaire tech genius trying to take down an AI that's trying to take over the world? Because that can only end horribly. Either she becomes yet another person Reese loses (lame) or she is a plant, I'm thinking Brotherhood if she is. Doesn't make sense at all. Plus he still seems really into Zoe. He might have turned Zoe down, but he asked first what her plans were, and when she told him at the end not to be a stranger he seemed all kinds of interested. Maybe he'd like to see more of her but is hesitant given recent events? I don't know. I was convinced in the safe house he was ending it but then the way he looked at her when she left. That's wasn't a look of someone who's no longer interested. I'm all for Reese opening up and letting go some of his pain, but the whole "falling for your therapist" thing is just over done. I really hope that isn't where that's headed. ETA: She was a little to quick with the whole "you're not a cop" thing. I'm thinking she is a plant. If so, poor Reese will really have trust issues.

  3. I doubt their show will end but I am glad to see that their awfulness is being brought to people's attention. I'd love them to actually answer some tough questions for once. To me they are just the different side of the same coin as the Kardashians. Both families exploit their sex lives, or lack thereof for money. Modesty my ass.

  4. I think Finch was very aware that Samaritan would use those tablets as a weapon but his issue is that once again they completely ruined this guy with a good an noble ambition and could not tell him why or explain things. I'm glad they are exploring the dilemma that technology brings. It's a great tool, but one that can be dangerous in wrong hands.

Really enjoyed the POI. He and Shaw reminded me of the first time Zoe was on. Wouldn't mind at all seeing him again but they seem to be pushing Root and Shaw at the same time. And I agre I don't th we'll ever actually see anything with those two since they kept Reese and Zoe all off camera too. (I miss Zoe. Having watched seasons 1-3 over July and August she's still fresh in my mind. Hoping since The 100 is a 13 episode season they can get her sometime later this season)

I also enjoy Shaw's trainee and his trust of Her. Although I am sure he has sealed his doom deleting that footage and possibly one of Team Machine's as well.

On a lighter note, Lionel killed the few lines he had. Reese's nonchalance on being shot at by highly trained assassins with kill orders and his WTF! reaction was hilarious.

  5. I hate how Boob and JChelle act like they and now their married offspring are somehow more in love than the rest of the world and set some kind of standard that the rest of the world simply can't match. Bitch please. Lots of people are in love, they just don't splash it all over for everyone to see. Nobody actually gives two shits about your family's sex lives. And the only reason it's out there at all is because you talk about it non stop. How the heck is selling your virginity story to the highest bidder modest? Ugh.

I applaud the same sex couples turning the tables on them! Love it.

  6. Watching the first three seasons over a 6 weeks span I had a few observations.

    1. There are only 7 characters from S1 still alive. Reese, Finch, Fusco, Root, Elias, Scarface and Zoe. Yet the change in cast wasn't super abrupt. I'll compare it to House where the beginning of season 4 had so any new characters all of a sudden it was distracting to me. On POI they weaved characters in and out pretty seamlessly.

    2. This is probably a very unpopular opinion, but Cater was probably my least favorite of the original four mains. That's not to say at all that I didn't like her or TPH did a bad job. I just liked her less than the others. Sometimes it seemed that the didnt quite know what to do with her. She certainally had some amazing moments like in the prison interrogation and the bringing Dow of HR. But there were a lot of times she was kind of boring. I'm not bothered in the least by them deciding to kill off Carter. Killing a main character isn't an original idea but they are playing a very dangerous game and her death highlighted what's at stake. It made for some if the best work this how has ever done. But I like shows that anything can happen. Even to the main characters. I get that type story telling isn't for everyone and I do respect that.

    3. The Reese/Carter kiss came out of freaking nowhere to me and now that I see it wasn't scripted I hate it even more. It just comes off as pandering to shippers before te snuck said ship so they could be all "I was right!" I wih they would have left it out. I still could have totally bought Reese's grief without it. One of the thins that I like most about this show is they don't resort to overplayed romantic melodrama. Romance is pretty much a non factor which is nice. Well there is Grace and Harold's/ Reese and Jessica backstory which is minmal and adds to the story, and Reese and Zoe is all tell and no show with their special friend status. Speaking of, I wish Zoe wills be on more, and am sad to hear she might not be availible at all this season. She's the character is most like to be. She's just fun.

    4. To me the show isn't too sci-fi at all. If Facebook can recognize my friends and Google knows where I am, they government sure as hell can figure that out too. I think it's a show that deals with extremely timely topics. The S3 finally both Collier and Control had very valid points. I appeicate the show doesn't act a though government surveillance is a good thing. It shows the team struggling with the info, what they do and how try get their info.

Edited because my phone sucks with the autocorrect.

  7. This is why I'm glad I'm an accountant. No one is ever going to make a tv show about us. Fiscal year ends don't interest anyone.

It was fun over the top soapy but let's not pretend it is groundbreaking or original. Especially when the first classroom scene was taken almost straight from Legally Blonde. But being a Shonda show I knew it'd be mostly horney, cheating law students/lawyers instead or horney, cheating doctors. But it's a fun guilty pleasure so I'll stick with it for a but.

  8. Ad me to the list of new comers. Well kind of. I did watch the first three episodes of the series but gave up after that because I was finishing up my masters at the time and it seemed like another NCIS that even JC's ridiculous good looks couldn't overcome. But this summer I decided to give it another shot while on maternity leave. Looks like I quit a few episodes too early because by the Elias reveal I was hooked and now the show is everything I wanted it to be in the beginning.

I think the show itself is one the best things in TV right now but it's in the wrong network. People who would love it won't give it a chance because it's on CBS and CBS watchers haven't embraced it because it's very different, the late hour and the fact it gets no promos. On another channel I think it'd do much better ratings wise. It does seem to have generated a little more buzz during last season which is why I decided to give it a second chance. I'm of the mind that no series should go more than 5-6 seasons anyway so the fact it won't go 10+ seasons doesn't concern me.

Very much enjoyed the premier and am happy to be watching the show in real time. Although it is a great binge watch.
