  1. Kirk practices for his date with Lulu. Closing Louie’s coffin. Jess being pushed in the lake. Luke starting Jess’ room with a sledgehammer. ”Is that sock helping you look?” (For Luke’s ledger) Jess dressing as Luke. Emily and Sookie planning the wedding and move of the gazebo. Troubadors on every corner. Babette explaining how a dead Cinnamon went shooting across the floor. Luke sees Lorelai and Rory returning with that Soup Plantation glow. He doesn’t want to face Rory so he makes a giant jump fr9m the sidewalk into the diner. Dean and Luke fighting on the street. Taylor’s ‘rug.’
  2. A possible future list could be physical humor. I’m thinking things like Richard falling asleep at dinner Michel running around the square Lorelai clearing the table in the diner LDGB and the “police” action during Rory’s class Sookie showing Trix how she got the cut on the back of her jacket
  3. Lorelai and Luke were actually very sensitively written for each other, except for the stupid plot points to create drama or the authors flipping their noses at the producers. Luke loved Stars Hollow and its life in spite of his obstreperous behavior. He was a truth-teller, calling out absurdities, but he cared for individuals privately. Lorelai loved her chosen home. She appreciated the family feeling and enthusiastically participated in activities. Lorelai stated that she wanted a partner, someone who would have her back and be there for her. Jason was his career and society. He didn’t think twice about sacrificing others for his goals. Christopher was the eternal playmate. Neither of them were there for her the way she wanted. Luke wanted love, acceptance and a family (a wife for sure, kids after a discussion). Think “not gonna make you eat French food.” Lorelai was his perfect foil, bringing him out of his grumpy shell and having his back as well as challenging him. If they hadn’t been written with the communication skills of 14 year olds, it could have been awesome.
  4. 21 to win, but Mrs. Kim is a contender!
  5. Cute little analysis of Luke’s wealth. They only missed how much he paid for the flower shop. A short video clip as well. Napkin swapping. If we presume his father didn’t leave a big mortgage, then I think Luke would have had more cash than Kirk. A hundred thousand for the shop, 30 thousand for Lorelai, and a major remodel of the Crap Shack could easily top 200 thousand. https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gilmore-girls-was-luke-danes-secretly-rich.html/
  6. 23 is good for me, too. It doesn’t compare to Mrs. Kim in 1.
  7. Bruno and Sarah, thanks for the fun nitpicks! I’d never thought about Richard’s career. So many gaps! Jason was a supposed asset to Richard because he brought a client list. What he must have spent on travel is stunning. As to Richard’s trips, I’m going to create a conspiracy theory that they were mini breaks with Pennylin Lott whenever Emily got overbearing. 😀
  8. 23. Funny, but as antiquated as Gran Gilmore’s wardrobe.
  9. I think Luke had given up at the Mimi point. He had failed to ask her out. She had shown no interest except to flirt for fun, coffee and household help, which he gave willingly. What little gumption he had was smashed by Max taking his shot. Christopher had won the ‘paint date.’ Even when Christopher behaved badly she still gave him a shot. Jess had Luke’s number and both knew it. A smarter man would have taken his shot, but he hadn’t. At the time of the car accident I believe he was just done. To address your question, I think if impatient Lorelai had gone to the diner as a customer for a while, no flirting, no friendship, he would have eventually let the relationship grow again.
  10. 29. Zach rubs me the wrong way here.
  11. 5, 24 Did we miss the breastfeeding moment? Jess’ reaction was priceless. How many times have we seen such reactions from teenagers who have barely woken up? 😆
  12. 5, 7, 11 I can still feel the awkward just remembering some of these scenes.
  13. Well said, Readster. I wish the Palladinos had flounced at the end of season 5. David Rosenthal and a couple of other writers (and a good editor!) would have made a couple more seasons with perhaps fewer witticisms, but a more satisfied viewership.

    Season 1

LOL, I felt Max was creepy and pushy while Dean was naively incapable of dealing with an ambitious Rory. Dean did later become stalkerish. Subconsciously or not, I think Max, who knew how to manage his students, recognized Lorelai’s immaturity and used it to get what he wanted, which was her. Not that he was evil, he just wanted her and almost got her. If he hadn’t gone to Canada I think he would have succeeded.
  15. 1 to win. The twists of emotions from one character to the next was excellent.
