  1. Oakville I wonder if you are in a time zone other than EST? I suspect they edited her flub of Horses since she  corrected it from what she initially said which definitely was "Houses".

I know sometimes I watch the third hour to rewatch something I observed during the first only to find that it has been edited out.

  2. No Joe. And right of the jump she's talking about yesterday's show and the CDC message about Ivermectin..."you are not a HOUSE, you are not a cow". She did correct herself and I will feel guilty for pointing this out if she is diagnosed with early onset dementia. However, I think it is relationship based. During the break-up of my marriage I was more than addled.

  3. Monday's show started off as being rather benign. Meeks had a colorful top and they seemed to be in a good space. When vaccination and Covid became the topic. Meeks became agitated, made big white eyes and interrupted Joe who then audibly sighed and looked very annoyed.

Katty Kay did a good job hostng Way Too Early and providing commentary on Morning Joe. I wonder if she would take the job if it were offered.

    Spoiler

No spoiler it spontaneously appeared and  I just can't get rid of it.

  4. Very late to the party. I had DVR'ed Season 4 and just got around to bingeing it this afternoon while awaiting Hurricane Henri.

Jackie Earl Haley  (as he was billed at the time)

He was in the Original Bad News Bears. The kid that rode a minibike.

was a tragic character in Breaking Away.  I still love this movie. Dennis Quaid was one of the stars.

I wonder if Kate Winslet patterned her Mare character after Cassie. Both are real looking women, who doggedly solve murders, they are well respected, and wear flannel shirts.

Speaking of Cassie and John. I had to dig a little to confirm that it was indeed Alastair MacKenzie who played the role of John. It took a few scenes for me to recognize him, he certainly has aged well, is even more attractive than he was when he played the new Laird of Glenbogle, one of my all time favorite British tv series, Monarch of the Glen. He was the star of the show and left to pursue movie roles One of the other stars was Julian Fellowes who wrote the screenplay for Gosford Park between takes of Monarch.

At least on my tv. For all her extra pounds her chest doesn't really look that big to me.

As with all things Twitney I am confused. Her  photoshopped and filtered headshots make her look so far different from reality. Her photos of her upper torso belie the spillage I've seen in candid photos as well as on the show. For the longest time I thought she had a small cup size and that was when she was at her heaviest. I think she may be photo editing the images above the waist that she posts.

I was really confused by that, Whit barely speaks French at all and she says he speaks English fluently, also English is widely spoken in the EU, there is a damn tunnel under the English Channel from England to France. Sure, Received Pronunciation and General American English dialects are different, but there is absolutely no reason why a French person that is fluent in English would want to learn General American English, much less Appalachian English, which is looked down upon even in the US.

Just to clarify, the site I was mentioning has 37 languages from which to choose including Hindi, Arabic, Hawaiian. Esperanto, Navajo, Klingon and High Valyrian AND one can select what  base language to use. So, if the tutor is learning Gaelic Scottish for example he could indicate that he is an English speaking person. Don't laugh, some people do this.

One of the positive as well as negative things about the site is that it has gamified language learning. There are points, leagues, and rewards. If someone wants to maintain their status they could very well use their native language to earn points to stay in a league which was hard won.

And I don't know what prompts a native French speaker to voluntarily drop in to make a comment but there are numerous times when a sentence has started with "as a native french born speaker this would never be said or written..."

Whitney always looks for the easiest way to do anything so it is within the realm of possibility that this game-based way of learning French would appeal to her.  Although almost everyone in France speaks English I can totally relate to wanting to learn the language of a country which someone has visited and has an affinity.  It's no secret that Twit loves France - even tries to dress as a (fake) Parisien e.g. black beret. For me, it is an inexpensive way of mind-travel. As I struggle through a lesson it strengthens the link between me and the other country and reinforces the hope/ intention to travel there again.

As a native speaker of English, here is an example of a sentence I have never seen before in English: "I must absolutely pass this interview."

  7. Since I have been trying to study French on line for a while now I have started to think how she could have met this guy who is either a fellow student or a tutor. I haven't heard his accent so I can't weigh in on which he is. If he is a native french speaker it would have been simple to meet him in Paris since one site offers immersion learning in France where one has the choice of staying with the tutor, or at a host family's home. Part of the experience is visiting places of interest while practicing the language. That would have been an easy way to create a story line as well as for providing plenty of photo ops.

One of the on-line learning sites I have been using not only has a message board to discuss grammar but people can comment on a particular lesson with other's weighing in. There is a spot for one's photo and I will keep an eye out for her. He might be a fellow student of the French language, or, as some people who are familiar with the language often do, drop in to clarify an issue.

The more I think about it, going to live in a tutor's house in Paris would be the ideal way of conjuring up a fake romantic relationship without sleuths being able to suss the reality.

  8. Kemper, that was very nice of you to be empathetic to whatever Mika may be experiencing and causing her problems. If you add to it that Joe might be withdrawing affection or attention it would certainly add to her anxiety.

This morning she made a statement about someone else and I couldn't help but think that maybe she had received the feedback herself after yesterday's performance since they didn't seem like her own words. (Sorry I don't have the exact quote but it was along the lines of the necessity for being able to modulate one's emotions.)

  9. And now...wait a minute...we're going to veer away from the news of the day to focus on KYV. Fifty women over fifty FFS. Just after talking about the danger the girls are in now in Afghanistan, their diminishing chances for education and freedom.

Who produces this show? Why would anyone think that would be an appropriate segue.

  10. No Joe this morning. "He's travelling". Meeks is almost hysterical this morning while cry-reading. At one point before she asked one of the guests his opinion she stated what he was planning to say. Not what she thought he might be saying, but what his opinion was.

Remind me, did she ever study journalism?

  11. When Joe references Mika being in the South of France I am 95% certain that she is no farther away than her living room. I know most of you are aware of that. However, in a case of life imitating art, if she  recently went to Poland to celebrate her brother's appointment as ambassador...this time she might really be in the SOF. 😁

It is an exclusive VIP guest list including Oprah, Pearl Jam, & George Clooney.

Obama has recently either cancelled or downsized his party due to the Delta variant of Covid. I am a little relieved since I was worried that Harry and Meghan might have been invited as Oprah's plus two.

Meeks made another whopper of a word substitution this morning, I was in heavy traffic so I wasn't able to commit it to memory. I did have a fleeting thought that if she has early onset dementia I will feel guilty about pointing out her numerous errors. Although the loud paper shuffling can only be characterized as being extremely rude.

Maybe they are moving Meeka off the 6-9 am timeslot; and Joe is mad? So he is calling in sick?

that might be, I am leaning toward Mika and Joe having interpersonal problems. When he came back last week they didn't seem very warm toward each other. He usually seems annoyed when she tries to shut down the sports conversation. Today, as she was reading the teleprompter she would say, "oh my God" as she read things about Covid. Perhaps he is getting tired of her lack of professionalism.

(When my husband moved out and I didn't know if he would be back I preferred to not advertise the fact and carried on as if everything was normal.) Today Mika did mention Joe's opinion of something and since it wasn't really germane to the discussion I thought she might be doing the same thing. As if they had just been chatting about something and she had to share it.

  14. Only one half hour in and I am already commenting on her. Did she really say "manility leader" when referring to Kevin McCarthy? With all the noticeable editorialising and reactions while others were speaking I wonder if they usually mute her microphone when Joe is there.

Another terrible mispronunciation from Mika this morning.

Yeah, she botched Smth but just before that she named  L.L. Coo J as well. What is WRONG with this woman? Is she that isolated that she has never heard those singer's names used in conversation? What is WRONG with MSNBC to keep renewing her multi million dollar contract?

We may have been wrong. The caption said "Patty Smith" but evidently there are two singers with similar names. Patty Smythe who was married to John McEnroe and Patti Smith who is also a singer/songwriter.

Tired of Joy Reid's poorly executed snark. Tired of Rachel's long, rambling stories

I couldn't agree more. In fact, I switch channels when either one is on the air. Rachel sometimes draws interesting parallels but has grown too self-congratulatory and the paper rustling when they go to break drives me crazy - reminds me of a certain recently departed  blowhard from the far right.

I do enjoy Ari Melber though and immediately change channels when his show is over because Joy has always annoyed me. On a shallow note it was due to her ridiculously bad wigs that she wore on the weekend show. When she first started her evening show I felt that she was having a gab fest with her sorority sisters. Hell no.

On the other hand, Nicole and Brian are both well-informed, can think on their feet and are enjoyable to watch.

  17. Elise did the entire hour on Way Too Early. I was struck at how poorly she read the teleprompter and how many people's names she mispronounced.  I guess that her forte is extemporaneous commenting which she does quite well.

As far as her green shirt, I have recently noticed a return to leg of mutton sleeves on female commentators so, she's not alone in the 1970-1980 style revisit.  (I think I saw the sleeves worn by people commenting on the Olympics - and there were at least two.)

Sweatney has discussed why she won't get involved with fat men.... it's the logistics of the sex.

Seeing how shamelessly she fishes for compliments I'm beginning to think that she was hoping that he would say something along the lines of, "Whitney you are are so beautiful and fascinating I desire you so much that I will find a way to send you into throes of ecstasy."

Mika said Chick Fillet was misogynous for using the term "Chick". Mika said the food is too salty & has high calories.

I guess I never realized how negative and unpleasant she can be. Oh sure, she feels the need to shut down the sports talk, and she loves to be a crabby school marm but she doesn't seem to get much joy out of life.

  20. I looked again at the photos she posted. Once again she is hanging all over the guy and he is acting very passive. It reminds me of how Chase interacted with her.  I wonder if he became aware of her when she was in Paris with Ryan and Chase for the NoBSActive/engagement episode did some research on sm and is running the same playbook as Chase. e.g. pretending to be interested for the $$.

I know she says that she met him through her online French course. I have been on Duolingo for a while and usually people post their pictures as part of their account identifier. One doesn't necessarily have to study the same language to be competing on the same League , although sometimes native speakers join the discussion to clarify some of the more confusing parts of a lesson. He may be learning English and checking in on the French discussions, or, she may have been doing the same in the English discussions. I'm not saying it is likely but it is possible that is how they may have become aware of each other.
