See, we don't know that she has one.

This may prove  confirmation bias where Whitney is concerned. If i can find old episodes I need to rewatch the episode where I thought I saw her trying to use it to apply Chub-Rub Cream.

I appreciate your well reasoned arguments although I would take issue with you defining her as a competent adult and, as with anything it depends upon one's definitions.  We no longer see the amount of care she actually requires and for that matter we no longer see her attempting to cook or even eating the large amount of unhealthy food we once did.

  2. Passing Strange you bring up some good points.  Do you think she had the "wiping stick" that wouldn't function as a Chub-Rub cream applicator was supplied by the production company, or, was it something Whitney already owned?

I concur that she needs an emotional caregiver at the very least. She seems isolated and depressed. She stopped maturing at pre-adolescence. Take a look at the clip that was posted by this forum's moderator where Whitney says "bed" wrinkles up her nose and raises her shoulders. That is body language often seen in toddlers who think they have done something cute. I have never seen that behavior in a mature adult.

did the guy she goes to hug look like he’s trying to back up and leave? It looks like he  realizes there’s a camera there, so he just steadies himself and takes one for the team.  I’m guessing he’s a crew member,

Any excuse for forced male contact.

I believe the dude is Jacob, the producer for Pilgrim Media. Several paid boyfrends ago Twhit was posting pictures of them together which lead her ridiculous fans to comment that they made a beautiful couple.

  4. Sorry, but the beach that Captain Glenn chose for the ceremony looked abysmal - and that isn't taking into consideration the crowd that was already using it. Given that the wedding took place later in the day some people did go home but as someone said there were several boats at anchor in the cove to watch. Also, there were some people on the beach and off to the side in bathing suits that were shown as part of the video footage.

This three day charter actually made sense as an  alternative to the hugely expensive traditional weddings where everything is for show and the bride and groom don't really enjoy themselves. I just didn't like the beach they chose, staying onboard might have been a better choice.

Do we know this for sure? How sad if true.

Judging from the background of the photo that Twit posted she is in a facility where meals are served. It could be a daily rehab situation or it could be a temporary rehab with the intention of Babs returning to live in their house full time.

  6. Not sure if I would agree that Glenn is neglectful, I see it as just trying to have a respite from the Southern Belles who have controlled his life since he married Babs. I think he has been steamrolled by their charm for decades and the only way he can escape the madness is by working.  I am concerned for his well-being now that Babs is no longer in the home.

  7. From what I have seen the best she can do to manage to "care" for her parents is to intrusively order them around and to try making decisions for them.  I always thought she was doing things to appear to be a loving and caring daughter. Her actions have always been self serving and an indication of her arrested development. Too many instances to list but to name a few: removing  Mr. Pigglesworth,  gifting her mother a kitten which she hadn't wanted, cleaning out their storage space and insisting that the parents move downstairs in their own home.

She has frequently made jokes at her mother's expense. I think it was during the trip to Bar Harbor when she referred to Bab's  "stroke hand". On the boat trip I she appeared to be vying for Glenn's attention.

You all were correct by inferring that Babs has experienced another medical incident. I know that if her condition does not improve Whitney will not handle it well. I know it is difficult to care for aging parents but I do think that Twit has fewer internal resources than most.

I'm sure there are plenty of "old money" people who behave just as badly.

Here's my thinking about the topic. The truly wealthy who are accustomed to their money e.g. old money  will treat their staff well because it isn't always easy to replace them. . There aren't a whole lot of people who would willingly make a career out of  catering to a family who has more than the staff well ever experience.  The employers know that they must treat the help well or they will be gone and it's hard to replace people with that skill set...discrete, hard working, honest, amiable.

The Below Deck crew knows that they can handle a few days of demanding guests because not all of them are Bozos and the next group may be appreciative and not as high maintenance.  Some of these obnoxious guests are just showing off, and they aren't aware that they are revealing themselves to be truly unsophisticated.

Possibly cocktails were made for cheaper alcohol. You add a lot of juices, liquors, bitters, and you don't notice you're drinking what amounts to moonshine.

Good point. Also, inexperienced drinkers go for something which is sweet and fruity to mask the taste of alcohol.  Those nouveau riche guests lacked experience in a lot of things - such as acting like decent human beings.

The people who always have to order fancy or complicated drinks are often Try Hards.

Agree  X1000. In my experience the wealthiest people order simple (but expensive) drinks. Think g&t in the summer, with the best gin, single malt scotch in the winter very well aged,  and very good wine at dinner. Source: former in-laws who would rather drink water than a convoluted/complicated mixed drink. ( We did have Campari and soda while in Italy, and, Ouzo while in Greece.)

  11. Anyone seen this yet? I normally don't like movies of this genre but it reminded me of  Keanu Reeves,' Speed which I greatly enjoyed. I think one of the similarities is that the action keeps going and going and going.

  12. Had not been a fan of Aesha in her earlier appearance.  I groaned when I saw that she was back as chief stew as all I could remember was her grating laugh, farting in people's faces, and vulgar references to anatomy. I am pleasantly surprised at how she has evolved.

  13. I haven't been a regular on this thread. My mother used to listen to Regis and Kathy Lee ( I hated her back in the day). I liked Kelly when she was first on the show although it did seem like she used Regis, but, back when she was pregnant with Lola and ate a whole box of Goldfish crackers  I thought she was relatable. My husband and I even were in the audience on two occasions and she was unfailingly polite and willing to stand for numerous photographs while Regis was off the set.

Anyway, what are the rumors about Ryan leaving the show? There have been some blinds by Enty lawyer about possible replacements.  (Should the show last that long.)  Is there a guest host scheduled for next week as a possible new host?)

  14. Unfortunately most women whose careers are based on looks don't realize until it is too late that their attractiveness will not last forever and would be best served to have a backup plan for that eventuality. It seems as if 98% of the women who worked as playmates didn't have any idea what they would do later in life.  I know someone who rode in horse shows. A freelance photographer noticed that she was strikingly beautiful and put her in contact with a modeling agency when she was in high school.  She did a few really big ad campaigns including one for Johnson & Johnson.  When she graduated from college she went to law school having left modelling far behind.

As far as the Shannon twins failure to differentiate, in January I visited the grave of the Bunker twins. They were once known as Chang and Eng, the Siamese twins.  They tired of show business and became farmers in North Carolina, and quite successfully. They married sisters who began to feud with each other so the twins built houses for each sister in different towns and would spend an equal amount of time in each sister's house. The twins fathered 21 children in all.  It seems to me that Karissa and Kristina should be able to see the benefit of developing their own personnas. I fear that when one passes away the other will be left totally isolated and friendless. (Chang and Eng died within 1 1/2 hours of each other because they were physically connected. It was later determined that one could have survived if there had been a quick surgical intervention.)

  15. It's been discussed why someone as attractive, intelligent, and educated as Jasmine could fall for Gino. Maybe he is the best she could do. The aforementioned qualities don't necessarily translate into being a good life partner - especially if the person is also jealous, unstable and entitled with anger issues.

Why does Geno think "pre nup" is pronounced "pre nump?"

Jasmine is going to be so disappointed if she actually goes to live with Geno, the weather will be a real downer for her and I am sure she will not be happy with his house even if she does repaint. If he gets a job she will be home alone and she will not be able to have him on the phone all day long to send reports and receipts.

I always wondered about that pronunciation as well.  Jasmine keeps her body in shape and likes to show it off. I can't belive that being bundled up like the Michelin man for so many months would ever appeal to her.

I'm laughing recalling the scene where Mike used his translation device to ask the older boy at the playground if it would be okay if he married his mother and the kid just shrugged and seemed to have no reaction to the idea

Didn't he ask one of the kids if he should give his Mom a ring? How many kids even KNOW what that means? Actually, how would a kid know what it would be like to have a full time father since they had never experienced  having one?
