  1. RagstoRiches, I think you've nailed it. We also have to don our fanciest party dresses. LOL! I assume the book we'll be discussing is "The Recipe Box?" It's a quick read and actually quite amusing. I have to admit that for one's first crack at a romance novel, it isn't awful, but I question as to how much (if any or all) of it was ghost-written. I think this will be lots of fun once we get it set up and people on board.
  2. Yes. I tried one of her recipes where you used packaged chocolate cake mix to make cookies. It was a disaster. The cookies all ran together, so I transfered them to a 9" x 13" cake pan to try to salvage them. I baked it for two or more hours and it still wasn't done in the middle. I ended up throwing it out.
  3. Yep. I think crowning Ree the female Guy Fie-ddy is fitting!
  4. I'm in for the book club. We just need to figure how to administer it. Maybe a separate thread here?
  5. I absolutely hated Ridge today. You don't fire somebody in front of other people. I couldn't figure out his justification. It looked like he took the best photo of a FC couture line to contrast with a not so great HFTF photo. Completely off base. I suppose that Eric is just going to sit there like the passive mute he usually is and not take a firm stand either way. If Stephanie were still amongst us, there would be a pretty quick and decisive answer. LOL!
  6. With all due respect, that's not the point. Ree passes these so-called recipes off as her own creations, when in fact, they are not. Other FN hosts will say that a recipe is from "so and so," and they may make some adaptation, but they don't profess them as their own original recipes. I want to know the day when microwaving a tortilla with onions, cheese and hot sauce constitutes a dish fitting for a cooking show. Has Ree put her copyright on that one yet? LOL!
  7. Oh, give me a home, where the wild (subsidized) mustangs roam... And where no one can find us all day (because we live in the middle of nowhere) Where often is heard a discouraging word (about the crappy recipes) And the fierce wind is whipping all of the way (that's why we like to entertain guests outdoors and better yet, have dangerous bonfires) Sorry, that's been swirling in my mind since the new site launched this thread. I watched the "Family Favorites" episode the other day (seen it before) and poor Paigey really got the raw deal. Carrots and frozen peas. If you're going to replicate frozen TV dinners, then do it right. Have mashed potatoes and a brownie in the corner. I'm surprised that Ree didn't rummage up those replicas of frozen dinner trays to serve that meal. Gosh, Aunt Sandy and even Trisha has them. Ree is slipping.
  8. C'mon ShiraAAAAAAA (Ronnnnn Moss growl) Please stay with us. You have the most wonderful posts. Don't give up on us. It's just like moving, only you don't have to pack anything other than your user name. The show is only for half an hour a day. For me, it's my dailyl escape from the world for 25 minutes. What more can I do to ask you???
  9. Same from me, Run the Table. Hope your pet gets well soon! Maybe Quinn will bust out of the closet and she and Brill will get into a kinky threesome. That would be hilarious!!
  10. WHY, WHY, WHY did the producers pair Jeff Mauro with Martha Stewart? He was trying so hard to be funny and he came across looking like an idiot, but Martha handled him well. Geoffrey Zakarian would have been a much better choice. I'll be Martha was hoping that was going to be the outcome, but no... Jeff M. annoys me more than Katie Lee and that is saying a lot. For the record, I thought Ina's icebox cake came out looking much more appetizing than Martha's. I like Marcela, but her over-pronunciation of Mexican ingredients and nouns is bordering online with Giada's. Not a good thing.
  11. I think the title is PERFECT! Thanks, David for fixing us up.
  12. From tablescapes to ripping off restaurant menus, we need a home for Aunt Sandy for old times sake. "One for me now and one for me later!" Bottoms up!
  13. Editor's Note: Discuss Farmhouse Rules Here! Original Post Check in to follow Nancy's #1 rule -- mix EVERYTHING with your hands.
