  1. Usman's "outfit??" Insecure rapper Soulja Boy looked more like a deposed tribal prince. 👹 Made him look older and detracted from the image he's been trying to portray for 2 seasons. I normally really like African designs. Maybe the colors "washed him out." 😴 💤 Oh well, seems like Kimmbaaarly (& maybe her son) could soon 'take him out' in a family military coup.
  2. I've grown to respect Brooke more since her initial Top Chef experiences. Early on, it was hard to get a 'vibe' on her personality and how she related to others. I think she's come a long way - BUT - just one suggestion: Unless it's my own TV's sound set-up, I find Brooke's voice bordering on too high pitched. ?? I guess I wasn't aware of it until she began appearing on more episodes. I began noting the pleasant cadence of Padma's voice, and I couldn't help but note the difference in how, I, as a viewer, 'took in' more of what Padma had to say. Not that I think it's a major issue for Brooke. Simply working with a vocal coach can do wonders to finding one's peak speaking pitch! 🎵
  3. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this. I just roll with the fact restaurant food is significantly saltier than how I choose to cook at home, especially since I don't have sodium-induced hypertension and generally don't dislike the taste of salty dishes. But after my first two visits to two different Craft restaurants, I opted to say "lightly salted" on subsequent visits. It's great food, but even better without the notable salt level. My major take on Tom is his love of 'acidity' and lemon (and many yoghurt-based dishes). (Noted by me, I'm sure, because I, too, LOVE the tangy tastes.) It also occurs to me that many 'salty' foods are neutralized nicely by lemony flavors. It makes for a nice balance. 😋
  4. May I add to your "ugly, petty and mean?" -- 🎵 DUM dah dah dah DUMB! 🎵 There is so much scheming and scamming in this relationship, that I suspect that, in the end, the two of them EACH gets their just desserts. 😱😱
  5. A free beauty tip for Kimberly: Take advantage of the array of headbands that are currently 'making the scene.' A classy or fun band will give you a much softer look. & they are great when you want pony tails, braids, et al for those hot humid days. 👸
  6. Like you, Yeah No, I "watched exactly one episode of "Next Level Chef" and thought it was too gimmicky and there wasn't enough actual cooking featured!!" My overall reaction was: "Is this Gordon Ramsey mess for REAL?!?!?" I could try to be kind and say that the show fell into the category of: "It's so BAD, it's almost good!" But I don't think I could forgive myself for such self-deception. So, I will leave with a simple plea to Gordon for future shows: Please bring back the quality of your earlier series that won you your loyal following!
  7. OOOKAY! This is one of those "Is it ME??" questions. One of the pleasures I derive from Top Chef is watching the cooking, the presentations and the descriptions of each competitor's dish. So, how did this show get to a point where almost all the 'food' segments seem to be "fast-forwarded?!? I find myself having to frequently put my TV on PAUSE so that I can actually SEE the dish, SEE the ingredients, SEE the table judging. Why has this engaging show become "Top Chef on Speed?" (I hope that Production will take this as a fan's well-meaning critique!)
  8. Thanks for the websites! Actually, I've been a fan of many of those tinned fishes (mussels, sardines, anchovies). For some reason when you mentioned "Spanish canned seafood" my imagination went to cans of paella, stews, hearty soups, etc. 😄 But I enjoyed those websites with their ratings, testings, etc. I know that Zabars carries a few that were mentioned (I actually have a tin of Roland mussels in my fridge right now). Will check out some of the other recommendations. Ortiz sounds wonderful! (By the way, while I LOVE having Zabar's around the corner, my neighborhood has lost about 4 large supermarkets over the last few years. Without a car, it's hard to do major shopping unless a place is reasonably close. We have a Trader Joe's & Whole Foods & Fairway within a mile....but then I need to find a taxi to take me & my goodies back home! And I'm a serious foodie! 😁 (Am not big on online shopping, but will do so for good eats!)
  9. Hmmmm. 😀 Can you suggest some tasty Spanish canned seafood? My mind is currently drawing a bit of a blank (only tinned fish is coming to mind, but I'm sure I've forgotten many others). Living a block from Zabars, I bet they'd have what you're suggesting. Am always anxious to try new goodies! 😋
  10. I an a big fan of chickpeas and enjoy many canned chickpeas from reputable companies. In a quicky competition such as this - a kinda hokey 'Friday Lights" mishmash, I felt that Tom pointing out the use of canned chickpeas was on the 'petty side.' I have no idea how palatable Sarah's choice of dish turned out, but I would certainly not chastise her for her choice of these very tasty beans. (White Hominy canned beans - Pozole - might be another option.) (P.S. I love to smash these beans into soups - even canned soups 😋 ... yum!)
  11. THE NEW REAL KIMMMMBERLY: "Yo! Wassup Usman?!? Yo lost your swag, dickweed?? You be frontin'!! "Yo mamma so stupid she got fired from da m&m company for throwing away the W's." And PS: "Yo mamma so fat that her drivers license picture say "picture continued on other side!" 🤪 THE 'OLD' 'CULTURED' KIMMMMBERLY: "You've made me look like a fool, Usman! 😩 But I WILL take back the laptop!" 😡 P.S. Urban Slang courtesy of "Urban Dictionary." (The ABC's of tawking Gangsta.)
  12. Wow!!!!! Wonder if we bumped into each other. ☺️ (Altho I must have been a few years older than you! 😄 I was working on Park Ave and 51st St (Clairol Headquarters....just before I gave up office work and turned to what I loved - acting and writing). At 3 PM, practically ALL the women who worked there left their desks/offices and joined up the march around 51st St and Fifth. I was so young then (tho not as young as YOU were! Lol!), and I felt that we were 'changing the world!' Well...we sure made a darn good start! How wonderful that your mother took you on the march! BRAVO! P.S. I'm still in the city - UWS near Riverside Park & West End. Still "hoping to change the world." 😁
  13. To Yeah No: YES, YES, YES! The immaturity of Olaj becomes more and more evident as each episode unfolds. And what's really scary - as you suggest - is that <<"compared to the other men she's been involved with he looks like a catch...">> 😬 I'm kinda confused about Katina. In the introductory episodes, she was presented as a "cool, club girl -- an ex-party gal who was looking for a mature guy in her future." So her current persona (or perhaps the way Prod. has decided to EDIT her) is pretty darn weird. (The way Olaj is acting out wouldn't even be attractive to a Middle-School teen.)
  14. Auntie Anxiety - you have perfectly summed up the "historical stages of being a woman." Our options 'way back when' were presented to us like 'The Ten Commandments.' "Thou shall Teach or Type or Clean House...." etc. etc. etc. I was lucky enough to be a part of the first Women's Liberation March up Fifth Avenue, NYC in the '70s. We all left our offices at 3PM (wherever in the city we worked) and joined up on 5th Ave, led by incredible female leaders of that era. What an amazing day. And it DID make a difference in my life. I finally had the guts to leave my boring administrative job and do what I really wanted to do: Acting and writing. "Noble" professions? Maybe not exactly. 😄 But right at the same time, other women were starting medical school, law school, becoming nuclear physicists, etc! Alas, decades later, in our CURRENT times, we're STILL fighting the good fight! And Olajuwan should be right at the front of the line for some "re-education!!" Seems like women will always be "teaching" - in one way or another. 👩‍⚖️ "Order in the courtroom!"
  15. I agree on loving the dog & cat antics. 😼 But then, as far as "missing Alyssa and Chris" antics -- therein lies the dilemma of MAFS. When the "experts" seem to deliberately mismatch couples, we all 'storm the gates' at their lack of wisdom and empathy. Yet we yawn at the couples that do NOT get us up in arms. Aah...so....what is a Producer to do?!?!?! (Maybe find some couples who get along AND have a genuine, fun sense of humor!) Sigh. I know...I probably live in a dream world....🥴
  16. "Give em an inch. They'll take a mile." Katina!! Can't you hear the sound of women viewers all over the world cringing (upchucking!) at the nasty turn Olaj has taken in your marriage?? How belittling his words and his tone have become?? Honestly, I don't know WHAT the blankety-blank O has struggled with in his life to produce this persona. But Katina -- IT IS NOT NORMAL! Your NEXT response to him should be: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!" THEN perhaps you can let him explain what in tarnation is he thinking?!?! His dialogue would almost seem like "satire," if it wasn't apparent how much O is slowly breaking down your wonderful spirit!
  17. Bwahahahaha!!! What about those old Friday Nite "Socials?" Sooooo many Mikes. 🤓 Almost made me wanna wear a cross! (Sorry for my youthful judgements....I suspect/hope that some of those guys went on to be loveable husbands.) Mike SHOULD be able to make a connection....but, more likely, on his own home turf.) Mike probably bought his formidable cross in the local marketplace where Ximena lives. According to fashion gurus, "today, cross jewelry has become a stylish fashion statement thanks to its trendy and stylish look." (And maybe he thought it made him look more like a 'gangsta.') 🚴‍♂️
  18. Can it be?!? Has TLC produced a show ('Adults Adopting Adults') that even its own corporate staff determined crossed a line over to unduly creepy?? 🤯 I thought that my brain had been 'dulled' by hours/years of watching TLC Trash TV, but by the second episode of this 'doozy of a series,' I realized that I felt a 'ping' of unease.... a disturbing feeling that I should NOT be a party to these private, often nasty stories. I can't find the show listed ANYWHERE now, and perhaps that is for the best. (UNLESS, they are linking the series to "To Catch a Predator.") 🙈🙉🙊
  19. OK. I'm going to go "all psychological" re Alyssa and her whole "situation." Firstly, I think that she and Chris were NOT - in ANYONE's reality! - an honest match. (Boo 'Experts!) That said, I question Alyssa's desire to truly WANT to be married. I don't see her comfortable sharing that "first nite marital bed" with ANY 'match' that was chosen for her. Which is fine - IF she hadn't made Chris this villainous ogre. I just get this vibe that she was more "in love" with the 'fairytale' of marriage....(perhaps emulating her friends)…than with an honest desire for a lifetime 'live-in' mate. I wish the "experts" had done a better 'psych' analysis before choosing this seemingly mixed-up young woman. (And P.S. I totally "GET" that we are not all meant to be married! There is nothing wrong with the "single life," and Alyssa should assess what she TRULY wants out of her future -- to work on what DOES make her happy and capable of feeling like the "GOOD PERSON" she perceives herself to be. ) 🤔
  20. Mike would be a GREAT character actor/model! He should check out NYC casting agents - send them a pic of himself (doesn't have to be expensive headshot at first) and then follow it up with a call to see if they are interested. There are agencies in NYC that specialize in "character actors or models.' Having been a member of SAG for "many moons" 😄, I really feel that Mike could hook up with an agent. You don't have to be a union member to start out. If he checked out/researched legitimate modeling agencies in NYC, he just may 'click' with one of them and find himself making some good money. (Just DON'T give it all to Ximena for breast enlargement...😁)
  21. Judging by Ximena's past so far, she has NEVER been treated the way Mike is treating her. And I'm sure her children's connection to him genuinely tug at her heartstrings as a mom. BUT -- I gotta admit that I saw TLC's introductory clip -- the one they do for the 'season ahead' -- and unless I misinterpreted it..... OK, I'm not going to reveal it in case it's a Spoiler, but let's just say that I hope with all my heart that Ximena's innocent, sweet and optimistic boys are not let down in their dreams of a 'real father figure.'
  22. Estellasmum, I'm pleased that, unlike a poster or two, you noted (re Shantall) "the boxy, heavy looking dress she took out and wore herself." True! Shantall had originally intended the dress to be sized for a model, but she commented that she liked the dress and decided that even tho it made sense to follow Christian's advice and "let it go," that she liked it enough that she really wanted it to be shown. So, SHE wore it. While Shantall is very slim with a lovely figure, If we envision this dress on a professional model - probably 5'10" give or take and thin as a rake, we might have seen the dress in a different light. It may not have 'stood out' to us, but it would have seemed a perfectly cohesive part of the Collection. That said, I admire Shantall's decision to show a piece that she had obviously put a lot of time and care into. I wish that more people understood that the dress was originally designed for a traditional "runway model." P.S. Estellasmum: Am wondering that since you use the term "mum," if you are from England? I lived there for many years ( am a longtime NY-er) and still find myself using the word "MUM!" 😄
  23. Actually, I'm not thrilled to "age myself," 💀 but I think that red dress with the black buttons was more "Jackie Kennedy" in the '60s than the fashion tragedies of the '80s. Shantell seems to have a good eye for what's classic and retro. And dang, can that girl sew!
  24. So Tommy Hilfiger dismisses prints because "you can't do them more than one season." !!!??? I think he needs to have a tete a tete with Diane Von Furstenberg. 😎
  25. I had gotten an email from A&E, previewing this show -- which is why I happened to watch it. It's quite odd. "Odd" as in a little creepy. The series needs a post-show psychiatrist to try and explain just WHAT is behind these "adoptions." So far, I've seen only ONE couple (and 'adoptee') that seems 'maybe' plausible. The others are painfully bizarre. Mr. Tie Dye (aka 'The Ped-o' for short) 🤡 should never have made it past the initial application. His wife, poor thing, is seemingly dealing with "Verbally-Battered Wife Syndrome" and is a quivering, unstable mess. (Oh! Must not neglect to add that their "adopted daughter" is a young pregnant 'adult' from Ireland.) If you thought 90-Day Fiancé was a side show, then check "Adults Adopting Adults" -- you owe it to the 'snark' part of yourself....at least once. 😜
