I think the story was muted because the plan was Sam being legitimately torn between the 2 but ultimately being drawn more to Jason but it wasn’t believable KM was checked out in her scenes with SBu while playing up every scene with BM. I was rewatching some old scenes and her performances between 2018-2020 were painful

But didn’t they then put her with SBu’s Jason? Or am I remembering wrong.

  2. I like Asher quite a lot and find his boyfriend annoying so I wouldn’t be sad if they broke up at the end of the season. The Asher finds religion annoying well has run dry though. We have seen him go through this with Jordan and find a way to be respectful. But if his boyfriend is a devout Christian and he’s just discovering it now they have other problems.

I don’t think Trina took the walkie talkie, it appears she left it on top of a piece of equipment (instead of with the other walkie talkies) and then picked up her own phone

I think that was the satellite phone she left on top of the other equipment and she did take a walkie. But I don’t know why she thinks they wouldn’t notice that.

The Haunted Star scenes have been so fun! I’m a Sprina fan so seeing them have this kind of adventure romance story after the long build up to their getting together is fantastic and both actors are selling it perfectly. Also love the looks between Obrecht and Spencer when Victor announced his planned genocide. Dr O knows Trina is on board so she knew Spencer’s grabbing her was part of a plan. All good fun, and I don’t need to think too hard about whether or not it makes actual sense.

I’m mostly ffwding through everything else, but deeply disappointed to see Willow is still not dead. This show keeps threatening me with a good time and then not delivering.

It's possible they might not tell us about Jonathan (or even some kind of Lulu return) the same as I assume they are hiding Tony Geary. I don't expect Lulu any time soon, but I would not be shocked if JJ appeared if Tony does.

Or, knowing Tony we'd get another return of Dirty Dodge (Ethan).

They seem dead set on not recasting Lucky but unless JJ comes back for an extended run, I don’t see how they have Lucky pop in without addresses his dead beat dad status. Especially since they JUST had Liz deal with this same situation with her own parents. Yet it’s GH so somehow they just…won’t.

I’m not loving the weekly setup & vindication. At this point, I have no suspects. And while I don’t want it to be Simon, he’s the only one that hasn’t been suspected/cleared and the only one who can see her. Unless Mr. Martin is somehow responsible for their deaths in a supernatural way? The school is a magnet for tragedy about every 10 years.

ETA: I read a fan theory (not a spoiler, but I’m gonna tag it bc I don’t know the rules 😜) that is way out there, but it would answer a lot of questions. Someone mentioned that the idea of “hijacking” a body was dropped in this episode because

      Hide contents

the mysterious ghost who was presumed to have crossed over has hijacked Maddie’s body. Maddie’s body isn’t found because it’s her body running around in the black clothes and mask, and Maddie doesn’t remember her death because she’s not dead, she’s possessed.

I don’t ever even read fan forums, but I stumbled on that one while I was trying to see if there’d be a second season, and it really would give the best possible resolution.

That would make sense but also

    Spoiler

Would be kind of a bummer? I want her to be dead if only because I enjoy her interactions with the ghosts. And the burgeoning romance with Wally, who is endearingly sweet without it being annoying.

Hate that Simon is in love with her. I liked them as actual best friends without that extra layer. Unnecessary.

The scene with Rhonda and Mr. Martin was disturbing because it felt like it was inching towards recreating her death scene. He clearly doesn’t want them moving on but I don’t know if it’s because he’s evil or because he doesn’t want to be left there alone.

When does Spencer care about Sonny unless it's to get something from him? He changes allegiance whenever it makes things better for him, so Spencer can shove any concern he might have.

I don’t think this is at all true.

I hate Dex, wish more people would be rude and mocking to him at all times. I hope Trina eats crow when she finds out that Joss actually cheated on Cam with the block of wood and then made him lie about it by threatening his life. But that seems doubtful considering the way they’re writing Trina.

I guess I’m supposed to be rooting against Spencer the way I’m supposed to be rooting against Nina or any of the non-Carlys. Even though Joss is a lying cheater who constantly inserts her unwanted opinions into others lives, and does so with an intense arrogance, I’m supposed to be mad when Spencer does it? Nah.

I'm neutral on Carlivati. I liked a lot of what he did early in his tenure, but I tuned out for a while when it turned into OLTL plus the vampires of long-cancelled Port Charles, with a side order of pickle relish. I think when I returned, the female duo was in charge of the writing.

However, didn't he slam Sean Kanan on social media for being thin-skinned and petty when Kanan complained (justifiably, I thought) about AJ being reduced to having panic attacks and being the butt of fat jokes? So being thin-skinned himself is an especially bad look.

Wow, the daytime soap world is sometimes deliciously petty. Definitely on Sean’s side in this, the writing for AJ was demeaning.

  8. I’m not going to get caught up in Esme vs Spencer because this storyline is honestly so dumb. If Spencer truly had the Cassadine crazy gene he’d just take the kid and hop off to Cassadine island. This story is just about the worst possible one to stick your younger leading man in, before he’s even given a proper romance. It should be the summer of Sprina, fun and romantic and sexy. Let Victor be the one to duke it out with Esme over the baby.

These people are psychotic.  Always wanting to murder each other, light on fire, hit by a truck, etc.  That’s really not normal talk.

Normal people don’t go on reality tv, but in particular this show. They’ve all been talking murder since day one.

Dave Rupel recently talked about GH 60 and it seems like Spencer/Trina will be involved in an throwback/old school storyline come May sweeps. Some are speculating its bringing back Ice Princess storyline and getting involed with Anna/Val. Also touches on May sweeps in general and Sonya Eddy tribute:

This sounds waaaay better than having Spencer and Trina spend the summer fighting for custody of giant adorable infant.

I don't think 90's GH was as good at incorporating music as One Life to Live was. Marty Saybrooke's rape scene set to "In Bloom" by Nirvana was absolutely brilliant.

I remember some boy band music popping up a bit, but one of the more memorable and poignant songs they used was Jewels “Foolish Games” when Lucky came to Liz’s house to check in on her after she was raped. She stayed in bed while he called her name from outside, and that song played. It worked so well with that sad scene.

I think Rachel is a bit of a lost soul, and being on this show is so far out of her element, she was going with the “fake it til you make it” strategy, despite not having the confidence and self-esteem to withstand it.  She appears to feel “less than” and I believe she just overcompensated all over the place, everyone else be damned.

The others ARE all assholes, really.  Well, all but one - I’ve honestly never thought that of Ariana.  It’s crazy that their budding friendship didn’t stop Rachel from betraying her so horribly.

I’m actually less concerned about Ariana long-term than I am about Rachel.  I think she (Rachel) was in a bad place before this, and there’s no doubt she’s in a far worse place now.  (Who wouldn’t be?  Guilt and shame are brutal)  At least Ariana is a little older and has more of a sense of self, has been established with a therapist and has a great support system.  How sad it is for Rachel that she self-destructed with that narcissistic loser, Tom Sandoval.  SO not worth it!  I wonder if she’s figured that part out yet.

To be clear, I’m giving NO ONE a pass and still maintain that it’s inexusable, but the more I see, the more I understand how they got here.    I’m sad for all involved - except Pornstache.  He can fuck right off.  I don’t think he even knows where the line between the roles of “bad actor” and “reality TV cast member” lies.   I think the guys tend to justify a lot of their bullshit by telling themselves they’re playing a role.  There’s a whole lot of smoke and mirrors involved in what we see, I believe.

These are all really good points. As much as Raquel dated James to get on the show (which he did to Kristen as well) she stayed with him for a long time even though he was abusive in many ways. The girl is definitely lost. Coupled with difficult family dynamics/abandonment, it’s not hard to see why she’d have some fluid morals when it comes to attention from men.

I’m almost hoping the shaky puppy persona she had was fake because it’s way more fun to have a Jax or Kristen type villain. But I think it’s probably real and it’ll be a bummer to watch it play out.  All of the women on this show have been awful at times, and then at times they’ve all been great or at least not terrible. It’s only the men I consistently hate, year after year.

  13. I saw some vids of Schwartz’s new girlfriend and she reminds me a lot of Kristen. I don’t know why she’s cool with him lying about their relationship for months or why she was happy to double date with Sandoval and Raquel (per Kristen) but anyone who would want to date Schwartz at this point clearly has a few screws loose.

This is such weak sauce. Would much rather Scheana zoomed in than Raquel, the wimp. You know Sandoval is off trying to contract Covid so he doesn’t have to be there in person either.

That look that Tom gave Raquel when she walked in.  Wow.  It's so crazy watching this with what we know now.  It's literally written on their faces.  They really deserve each other.

I feel bad about this, because these are real people and Ariana is very hurt, but seeing Sandoval give Raquel that look and knowing what it really means was kind of exciting. I don’t want five episodes of BS where we look for clues for the real story but I did enjoy it in that moment.

I’ve always hated both Toms, far far more than even the most unlikable of any of the women. Schwartz isn’t getting enough hate for me personally, but I am relishing Sandoval continuing to be an arrogant ass even as the world mocks everything about him.

Too soon for a triangle - they barely started with Spencer and Trina.  No triangles!

Dex is sort of upstanding (isn't he a war vet who is faking being a mobster to take down Mooby?) so he wouldn't like Esme.

Dex’s backstory makes no sense. He doesn’t work for the feds, he’s just a mercenary. Who’s to say his employers are any better than Sonny? And he had no problem boning Joss while she was with someone else so he’s not all that moral. I can’t even hate the guy tho he’s just so blah.

I'm sure the quad thinks that Esmé will revert to her pre-accident terrible self once the current charges are dropped, but that would only ensure she gets prosecuted and possibly lose her giant baby. Esmé already knows the custody issue is shaky; why would she make it worse?

Pre-amnesia Esme hardly thought or acted in a rational manner. Of course they think she will be unhinged again.

I get the Dex and Spencer will be brothers vibe too, which will make him Sonny’s nephew. I only accept this storyline if somehow it makes him turn on Joss.

Well, Esme did some truly awful things.  I mean she drugged a man into a coma, right?  Am I imagining that?  She set fire to Ava's car, she left a picture of her dead daughter on the scene.  That last part is really highly disturbing.  She set Trina up for a crime that could have landed Trina in prison for years.  Revenge porn is not a joke legally.  So I think questioning her fitness as a mother is totally normal.  If this was going on in my family I don't know what I'd do, but I also can't say what I wouldn't do.

I enjoy amnesiac Esme and it’s a soap so I can suspend disbelief of most anything, but seriously. Esme was many different flavors of awful, Spencer still (rationally) doesn’t trust that she’s actually lost her memory, and she just busted out of jail with her two serial killer parents. Pushing for custody here is not a wild thing to do.

. And when she smugly handed back that oh so OBVIOUS picture of Jeff and Caroline that was taken recently, instead of when they were younger, Elizabeth should have hauled off and smacked her. Yeah, I said it. She should have done it after she said "this was such a violation" and not fucking THANKED her, as if Cujo had done Elizabeth some grand favor.

So much of this story was poorly done and nonsensical but this was one of the dumbest parts. It wasn’t even a picture of Liz with her parents, or from when she was young. It was a pic that could have been taken last week, it might as well have been an iPhone selfie. She could have gotten it off their Facebook. Why would this be so meaningful to Liz? But we had to have a moment of hero Carly I guess.

  18. Definitely enjoying this more as it goes on and the younger actors hit their groove. It feels like a waste though that they aren’t doing this show “Lost” style with each episode a flashback to one of the dead kids lives, while keeping Maddies murder the overarching mystery. It was good to get more of Rhonda’s backstory and see the glimpse of Charlie’s sadness. There was also obvious chemistry between Maddie and Wally and I can’t imagine they’re going to waste Milo Mannheim in a nothing role so I hope that develops.

  19. A big part of why this story is so interesting is because it involves basically all of the cast - thanks to the fake Raquel/Schwartz storyline which Schwartz was happy to co-sign even though he knew it hurt Katy. It involves James because Sandoval helped him plan and pay for his proposal to Raquel. And it involves us as audience because we were fooled too, and they almost got away with it.

The furor might be dying down now but luckily they picked those cameras right up to capture the aftermath. And good job they did because if there were many months in between it would be far less interesting.

  20. I’m happy to keep season 9 under a spoiler. The only non spoiler things I will say is both episodes have been great and feel very early Endeavour to me.

    Spoiler

Who was the man who turned up at Morse’s house at the end?

I need to go back and watch Neverland because I barely remembered all the important details to Blenham Vale. But I so loved Bright this episode!

Joan being wishy washy about marrying Strange is probably in character but makes me sad for Strange more than anyone. Morse’s excitement when she called was a little heartbreaking but that’s mainly due to Shaun Evans.

These last episodes are so bittersweet! I think I worry most about Sam, who I could see not making it.

Makes you wonder if Tom Schwartz actually DID know what was going on between Tom Sandoval and Raquel (according to Sandoval's Instagram post, Schwartz found out about this "recently"). I wouldn't be surprised if the three of them manufactured the story/rumor of Raquel and Schwartz being a thing just to divert any potential attention away from the REAL story.

Fairly certain he did. The first rumor was Coachella in April, just people took “Raquel was making out with Tom” as Schwartz (who wasn’t there) when it was Sandoval. Then the three ran with it as a cover.
