We've been watching since he took off to buy a pack of cigarettes and ended up in Africa as White Savior two days after his wedding to Nicole and didn't come home until an entire continent demanded he be deported.

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Can you imagine! ROTFL "Just go, White Man! You are too dumb!"

I will say that Show presents Eric as this walking holy water fountain ALL THE TIME while doing the same bullshit with Nicole only intermittently.

  2. I saw only the beginning of the episode, and honestly, I don't care about the Everett mystery. Not one bit. Marlena's jacket was nice though.

Julie's outfit and earrings were fun. Not what I'd expect her to wear after all her clothes were burned, I assume. A touch too upbeat.

It's so silly that the time capsule - fun idea by the way - was stored in the chimney instead of in a wall of the house or something. I mean, they had the place burned, right? So the writers could have had it fall out of anywhere! A wall! The ceiling! From underneath the floorboards of the stairs!

Why the chimney, which we know has been used before during the last couple of decades!?

It's like the try to find the least logical explanation sometimes...

Brady and Nicole arguing about their kids in the Square gave me flashbacks to when the two of them were on the run in Canada, promising to make a happy family of themselves, with Tate and Holly as siblings. Weird how many kids raised a siblings end up dating or involved on this show.

I still don't see how Tate could be charged with anything regarding Holly's overdose, since there was apparently zero evidence to suggest he gave her the drugs. He's gotten the weirdest sentence considering no crime was committed.

    How did things end today?

Which makes it super clever for Kate to show up in a big pinwheel hat.  She sure won't stick out in a monastery!

Aww dang, I wish I'd seen that. Funny stuff!

    So....yay.

  4. Was Ali ever Anti-EJ? I can't remember. (God, she was a lame character as an adult.)

I mean she knew him roughly until the age of...10? That's before he was shot. Then she spent years wandering the globe with Mommy Sami as she desperately tried to find out whether he was alive, and then after the warehouse story, traveling with him and trying to bring him back to life...

...honestly, its not like they could have bonded too much.

Well, if Bo and Hope come back, Ben and Ciara and the kids can come, too, and then we get to see more RSW try to be different people.

    We're already seeing that.

    It's very trying.

  6. Without judgment, I did notice Ari was developing some signs of aging in recent years. Now, those seem to be gone, so I'm guessing fillers..? Plus her hair suddenly got fuller and longer too at one point during the pregnancy SL.

In general, though, it has to be galling to be an actress and deal with the "upkeep" that implies and still deal with harassment at work.

Or in her case, just plain getting fired. They offered more money for fewer episodes in the wake of her needing a lawyer to even get back on set after being written out.

Yeah, at this point the bridge is burned. She went public, filed a huge lawsuit and is calling them out. Unless the court case gets settled quickly and Corday makes changes and apologies, I really doubt Nicole will ever be Ari again :(

I think she's not used to playing a mom of a teen daughter(which is funny since she has a teen daughter in RL) but onscreen how often did we see Nicole/Holly together? They quickly SORASed her overnight and are trying to create this insta mother/daughter bond that we didn't see happen.

Unlike Tate where I find it far more organic given the different relationships he has with his parents.

I still think Tate should love his Mom to the moon and back, but that would interfere with Theresa suddenly being awful in every conceivable way.

  8. Given the timeframe for Ari's participation in this show and the glacial pace at which the Jude storyline is being resolved, I wonder if Eric and Nicole will get anything resembling an ending (or a happy ending) as a couple. Will it just be another quick glance as she leaves town? Will they even have contact? Will she still be with EJ when the last day comes?

...it sucks more and more that the happiest we saw them was at that underwhelming wedding a few years ago :(

  9. I saw this thread title and suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of longing for Victor's brilliantly witty observations and how they would be peppered throughout the major storylines. He was one of us, watching the show and rolling his eyes. It was such fun.

  10. Boy, is self-flagellation in today!

No, Nicole - being upset over losing a baby you barely were able to carry to term is *not* you being selfish or neglectful. Leaving Holly alone on her birthday? Yes, definitely, but otherwise you're not even close to worst parent in Salem.

And Gwenresa - Brady is a filthy rich slacker who had total access to his son his entire childhood and chose to stay away and busy himself with getting laid and general self-loathing.

I did like them revisiting the beat of Theresa's side of the custody battle, but isn't it interesting how they carefully omitted most of the context: that Theresa had left town to prevent Brady and Tate from being targeted, how she returned to find out her (increasingly unstable) sister Eve had not only bedded Brady but intended to marry him after only a few brief months, and that they were both dead-set on keeping Theresa at a distance and vilifying her.

I imagine Tate had a terrific childhood in LA, more or less, with Caroline, Kim, Shane and possibly Andrew around. Plenty of money to pay for school, activities and essentials. If he'd stayed with Brady, Kristen only would have gotten her hands on him again in about five seconds since he was always involved with her in some way.

So...can we PLEASE stop trying to make Theresa out to be the worst? Please?

    Sigh.

It was nice to finally see the inside of Black Patch (and was that the first time we saw the exterior of the hospital?) but the whole backstory about K's daughter felt...weird? Maybe it was SN's performance, but it felt like Steve was maybe telling K what he wanted to hear just to get him off his back...until he got to the John part.

Seriously Steve...why tell him that stuff? Especially since it sounds like K maybe arranged for Tripp to be kidnapped? I don't get it. You already know he's messing with Maggie (and Victoria, and Sarah, and now Doug and Julie are under the same roof too with the young kids) so...what's the deal? Did you expect that awful story to make him feel better and back off? Hardly.

Interesting juxtaposition of John being absolutely the best Dad/Grandpa ever, with the story of him shooting K's daughter dead. I assume there is some technicality that will absolve John, but still...

    Drake is really quite lovable.

Why did Nicole hesitate to tell Holly she was out for two months? She's talking, walking and apparently freshly showered...not at all fragile. And two months isn't a big deal. Why were they dramatizing it? Silly.

Stefan is hilariously inept. It took him forever to move in on Harris, and he still got his ass handed to him. How did he seriously deliver the lines "how did you survive those bullets?" with a straight face, given his own medical history?

Anyway, I think Harris should have called for backup and sent his ass to jail. Hospital security might also have nabbed Corrupt Cop lady too if he had (that was my first time seeing her).

I'm enjoying Nicole more than ever now, and forgiving her lack of maternal bond with the Holly actress because, as we know now, Ari had a ton of stressful things going on during the period when Holly first appeared.

I literally had to find a website called something like "Talk to a Human" to even get past the phone tree and actually be able to talk to someone.

Oh my gosh, I've done the exact same thing! God bless that website. Isn't that pathetic, though? Needing to seek out some random website just to get the cheat codes for speaking to a person? 😆 Heaven forbid a company actually *GET* that some issues can't easily fall into a predictable category and therefore require the intervention of a human being's nuanced mind.

...and yes, the very nice person in India was indeed wrong and no one will be calling you back. But hey - you tried!

  12. Hey Ocean! I don't doubt for a second that every word you speak is true. I often expect that the people I deal with over the phone just got off the line with someone truly awful, so I try to extra pleasant/upbeat, thank them for their time, make sure they can hear me and that I'm being clear in what I'm asking, etc. I've done phone work too, and since folks can't see your face, you really have to use your voice to come across as "pleasant".

...but for real, the majority of these people just turn on you no matter what you do. The nice ones unintentionally misdirect or misinform you, while the rest just talk over you, tell you your question has been answered, and really try to dominate you.

I mean, the number of times they get aggressive about "validation" when it's a question about my personal account...it's nuts. They seriously just start barking orders at you: "Tell me the amount of your last deposit and the date!" God help you if you don't remember every minute detail they're asking about. They'll say you've been frozen out - even if you know your name, birthdate, mailing address, secret phone password, what kind of account it is, when you opened it, etc, etc, etc - and then just hang up on you with a kind of glee about them. It's bizarre.

Or you'll get the following, after failing their test: "Well, if YOU don't remember YOUR personal information, that's not MY problem! And now you'll be LOCKED OUT of the account for YOUR OWN SAFETY for 72 hours. Is there anything ELSE I can help you with? I think your question has been ANSWERED. THANK YOU!"

^^^ almost verbatim quotes from conversations I've had.

There's no reasoning with these people. Yes, fine, sometimes there's a protocol to follow...but we're all human beings. And sometimes you have to use logic. Nobody remembers every deposit or withdrawal made in their account with computer accuracy. Quit punishing people who are who they say they are.

It's just by the time you finally get to someone who has the authority to solve your problem, you feel like you've been given the run around so many times that you're ready to scream.

THIS too. Listening to all the endless "press 2" prompts - made only worse in a post-covid world, where they tack-on an extra speech about hospital protocols or clinic protocols, as if none of us could have guessed that hand-washing is necessary or whatever - just drains the soul. No matter how nice someone is, getting to that person after 15 minutes of needless hell is just going to wreck you.

And then, there's guessing how much time you need to resolve your issue. You can call a place up with 20 minutes before they close and STILL not have enough time to get through to the right person. In 20 minutes!

True story: I called a pharmacy this week 30 minutes before they closed to ask about an alternative to a prescription and spent....3 minutes just figuring out which buttons to press (no, I'm not 80 years old), 3 minutes on hold, 5 minutes validating who I was and explaining what I needed to a clerk who then put me on hold to "ask the pharmacist"...which really meant (you guessed it) disconnecting me after leaving me on hold for 10 minutes. Then I called them back, spent 2 minutes pressing buttons, 3 minutes on hold again, then got a different clerk who put me on hold for the pharmacist, who after 4 minutes came on the phone line, listened to my issue (which the first clerk had told them nothing about apparently), only to be told "we're closing right now, can you please call back tomorrow?"

    Trendy

It took me way too long to grasp that one ^

Of course, I dont think of trendiness when I think of them.

But then, I don't think of them.

Also, this might only be speculation, but someone posted online that Ron wants to return with Bo and Hope back in Salem.

It makes sense, with Doug's passing and Bo's unending resurrection storyline, but honestly I'm so fed up with Bo crap at this point, he could be a full-timer again and I wouldn't be particularly thrilled.

Once he's alive and back with Hope, what does he realistically offer the narrative?

He got a swanky, buzzy, other-character-sabotaging death. They should have just left him dead.

  14. Fake eyelashes? Man, boes, I admire your restraint.

Today's show offered me a thrill I was just...incapable of processing: Ben and Fristen, together, in spandex, in concert! Wow - how ever did you manage to reach directly into my mind and manifest such a perfect embodiment of everything wrong with this show? And what's this? Gwenresa, to make it a trio?! Wowsers! My stomach can hardly stand the excitement!

Mixing characters who rarely interact can yield good results (Chad and Sarah), but only if there's something palatable about them as individuals.

Tate, who is barely on this show, has the good sense to not want to come back to Salem. I say, grant him membership to Mensa and wish him good luck in his travels. He can't run far away fast enough.

Brady and Gweresa are awful together, and have two gruesome ghouls snapping at their feet. Both their present situatuons and their futures are going to be a real shitshow. I don't intend to watch.

Is the clock at the Horton house damaged? It seems greenish but I'm not sure if that's always how it's been or a recent superficial effect to make it seem "smoke damaged". I always liked the clock and hope they keep it around.

It's impossible Alice's chair wasn't even smoke damaged, and the more they point that out, the sillier it gets.

I appreciate every scene with Nicole now even more considering Ari probably had to suppress the urge to run screaming just to get through them. Her matching purple pjs were stupid, but Holly coming out of it and something happy finally happening in their lives was heartwarming. Kid looks good for a coma.

I recently watched a video about a mother whose daughter had a medical event while driving and crashed. She fell into a coma and everyone on staff repeatedly said to pull the plug. That her quality of life would be awful even if she survived, which didn't look likely. Well, this mother calmly refused, actively cared for her daughter, day after day, week after week, and 5 years later she miraculously started waking up.

Naturally the poor gal has major handicaps they are working to overcome, but she's alive and their kids have a mother again.

It puts these soap comas in a very different light. Holly was out for a few weeks, of course, but still. There's always serious loss of function. It's not just a long nap.

What an incredible Mom, though. Good for her.
