  1. Damn I love Lumi! I didn't start watching Days until 2006, so I only got to see the death knell of Lumi as Ejami came about - but I'm really enjoying these clips! Makes me sad Lucas/BD has been pushed to the sidelines. Thanks for finding the video, Rick Kitchen. So this clip was from 2004 when JER started killing off everyone over 29, right? Wow. What a horrible thing to do to your viewers. Looking forward to the next one on Alison's countdown.
  2. This was the most fun that Face Off has ever been, IMO. Loved seeing the tables turned on the judges, and my faves were back! Anytime Laura, Roy and Anthony are on my screen I'm thrilled. (I was hoping that Laura and Anthony would get paired together, because I'd LOVE to see what they'd come up with). It was a lot of fun seeing a more personable side to the judges (I was so entertained I didn't snark on Glenn's hair even once!), as well as seeing how they work. I do wish we'd gotten to see more of the finished work - I'd have loved a 360 view of each character, or at least some closeup of the faces and details. But I suspect there was far more footage than normal that the editors just couldn't fit in. Still, wish we could've seen Roy's castle contraption in action. I'm surprised Neville won - I would've given the win to Ve, or possibly Glenn. But they were all pretty impressive. I hope they do this challenge again in the future. Raise your hand if you think the clip of Neville saying "Face Off is hard!" should be added into the opening credits from now on! *raises hand*
  3. Rick Kitchen, it's right here - the flour throwing starts around 4:40. Any long-time viewers know what year this is from? Really makes me wish I'd seen more of Lumi, they have such great chemistry together.
  4. Yes to your entire post, Llywela, but especially this. I've never really watched any of Clara's episodes (only two specials, I think) so this part-time thing came as a surprise to me. Seems to me that Moffatt wants to make Clara so special that she gets to keep her normal life. But it doesn't even make sense for a number of reasons, as you've pointed out.
  5. Even though we're only two episodes in, things are looking more or less like I expected: the writing is pointless and rather hollow, Clara is disinteresting at best, and Capaldi is the best part of the show. Though to be honest, he has yet to be as awesome as I expected him to be. I've just seen him being awesome on the Musketeers, so I know he has more to offer than what we've seen so far. I blame the writing - it almost seems like Moffatt is too busy establishing Twelve's shtick to bother developing him as a full character, or to delve into who this man actually is. (That made more sense in my head. I dunno. It's late here.) Random note: is it just me, or are they making Capaldi look older and craggier for the show? He looked years younger in the World Tour special that aired along with the new episode. Maybe the show made him look older so the many, many old jokes last week would work. Don't care about Missy, or Clara's new love interest. And what's with the ending? After (yet again) reinforcing the notion that the Doctor and the Daleks are more alike than either cares to think about, Clara just flits off for a date? Maybe it's just me, but it struck me as very discordant against the tone of the episode. Isn't she supposed to be his "best friend", the companion who knows him better than any other companion? Sorry Moffs, I'm not buying it. I'm going to stick around to see how Twelve develops. But I'm afraid it's going to be more of a slog than I expected.
  6. Thanks for the info, DCWash - I'd heard about that from somewhere else around the net, but wasn't sure exactly which scene it occurred in. I'll have to give it another watch as soon as I get my dvds!
  7. My Sunday nights won't be the same without this show. I've really enjoyed the whole package - getting to know the characters, the stories, the look of the world/production design, and of course the actors. It's nice to finally see Santiago Cabrera in a decent role on a decent show. My only complaint is losing Capaldi to Doctor Who (and I say this as a onetime DW fan). I only hope that Moffatt can get his act together over at DW, so our losing the Cardinal isn't for nothing. Looking forward to the next season, whenever it may air over here. But what a great episode to go out on! Loved the return of Athos' "I'll punch you so hard you'll beg me to kick you" look at Aramis when Anne's pregnancy was announced. And the Cardinal's Oh Crap look after they tricked him into confessing. At least BBCA is smart enough to release the DVDs right away.
  8. I've just registered here at PTV specifically to say No, you're not. Matt Smith never did it for me as the Doctor (not a bad actor, just horribly miscast IMO) and I was really, really hoping tonight would allow a fresh start for Capaldi/Twelve, so I can forget that Smith/Eleven ever happened. Is that too much for ask? Ditto. What, is the mere thought of someone being older than 29 so upsetting that Moffat felt the need to lampshade it, repeatedly, and then beat it to death? YES to your entire post. So wishing we'd gotten a new show runner to go along with the new Doctor. Overall, I can't wait to see what Capaldi does with the role. Hopefully Moffat's writing won't make my head explode before Capaldi gets some worthy material. ETA: Amelia, my understanding is that he was dropping the hairs to gage the air currents in the room, which were undisturbed because the 'bots weren't breathing. I could be wrong, though.
