I'll take Troy over another Shrike or Virginia, or Victor in a beret, or any other cartoon villain TWD has become famous for.

That is some real bottom-of-the-barrel scraping there!

  2. I thought it was pretty mediocre. I never thought the Ottos were remotely interesting, so seeing the psycho little brother back doesn't make me excited. I'll say it was an improvement over the entire season 7 and the last half of this season. Seeing Strand back is ok. A lot of hard-to-believe or at least unlikely things that I'm not even interested in going into here.

I'll ride out the rest of the series, but I won't be sad to see it go. So much weaker than Daryl or even Dead City.

I don't recognize half those names, nor remember half those events. Clearly I'm not paying enough attention. And I'm wondering if it's worth it to try.

Seriously, the whole thing with the husband's late wife and her mean friends happened in the first episode, which was only about a month ago, but I only have the vaguest recollection. Kim Kardashian is the only person who really stands out, and that says a lot.

  4. Mid-season finale.

Anna senses the dark presence closing in on her, closer than ever. Ms. Preecher reveals pieces of her past and may know the truth about what's happening to Anna and Dex.

    Airs Wednesday, October 18th.

  5. Definitely the best content this IP has put out in a long time. Better than Dead City IMO. A few clichés of the genre, sure. The acting performances, even from Reedus, were well-above what we've seen from this franchise.

ETA: unlike a good chunk of the fandom, I am not that thrilled to see Carol back.

I appreciated the opening scene because no Emma Roberts. Then I UNappreciated the opening scene because Billie Lourd.

She was ok in the opening scene because she was supposed to be stoic and wooden, which is her wheelhouse. If she had to play a 2x4, she'd win an Oscar.

The Ashley/Ashleigh characters were terrible. I don't think Leslie Grossman is much better an actress than Billie Lourde. But of course, the plot is advancing now that they're going to the mid-season finale next week. I hope there's not another 5-6 episodes of Emma Roberts walking around frightened and vomiting blood.

I think the key here is the post credits scene from World Beyond where we see a scientist in a derelict French lab looking recordings of video calls made between the lab and Jenner at the CDC at the time of the outbreak, in the call the differing types of zombies are discussed. someone comes in and kills the scientist and takes the data. Presumably this guy was working for genet. this is how they know they need to go to the US for whatever it is they need from US zombies.

It also suggests some sort of tie in with the CRM. IIRC during the recorded convo with Jenner it's mentioned that some of the scientists who were working at the french lab were at a conference near the location of The Commonwealth at the time of the outbreak, so if they're alive they're stranded in the US within spitting distance of Carole.

You and I and probably a lot of other people on this thread are hoping for this. I'd really like it all tied together somehow. I thought World Beyond would do some of that, but other than that scene, it was kind of a dud. Sometimes I feel they're stringing us along.

Wow! How is it that people have these experiences... but not me?

Well, I live in NYC, so I guess that helps. In the early 90s I was on my college radio station, so we got a lot of tickets and backstage passes, so I met some early "alternative" bands. In the late 90s I worked in a photo shop in midtown Manhattan, and I met a few medium-level celebrities who lived nearby.

Other than that, I'm just as dull as everybody else.
