OMG. The tagging is the worst part! It's considered bad form on social media to snitch tag, which is basically what those fans are doing in the comments section.
-
Right?! I understand venting on a fan forum like this one. That doesn't bother me. It's the purpose of the fan forums: to discuss shows/films and the people who on them/their characters. However, I cannot imagine traipsing over to a stranger's socials to troll and bash them for reasons that have nothing to do with me. ETA: Although it'd be cool if Jennifer and Sutton could get Crystal back onto the show. We know Crystal has no issue when it comes to confronting people for their b.s. either.
-
Jennifer has limited the comments under this post because some fans were calling Crystal boring, mentioning Sutton, and just acting like crappy people. Also Jennifer posted a photo of her and Sutton together.

I mostly agree with you on this point. FWIW, we're usually in agreement on everything here. That said I think all the HWs (not just Garcelle, but franchise-wise) keep a close eye on what's being said on social media. They talk about it on the show. They're gauging what's being said about them, or about a situation. Even if the HWs have an assistant tracking social media, they know exactly what's being said about them, and I think the fan reactions find their way onto the show, just as much as I think Rinna is coaching people offscreen, despite not having been on the show in a couple of years. Like Garcelle, I'd unfollow people I no longer like and trust because why keep that negativity in my TL? I'm not judging her for unfollowing most of the BH HWs. Where it gets fuzzy is that fans were in Garcelle's following list and searching to see who she would unfollow. They noticed that while Garcelle unfollowed Sutton, she was still following Sutton's business accounts. Fans started ramping themselves up over that and talking to one another about when they thought Garcelle would unfollow the business accounts too. Within hours, Garcelle had unfollowed those business accounts. For me, the timing feels a bit suspicious, but it's possible that it was a coincidence. ETA: I also acknowledge the possibility that Garcelle does something (e.g. unfollows someone) and certain fans might think she did so after reading their comments/tweets, but her decision had nothing to do with them.
-
They definitely all pay attention to what's being said on social media and on podcasts (because they go on them as guests). I'm sure the unfollowing is both (1) because she's moving on, and (2) because the fans are a bunch of badgering assholes who insert themselves in others' conflicts.
-
I really think RHOBH fans need to un-insert themselves from the Garcelle/Sutton friendship fallout drama as it pertains to social media and the comments. We don't know any of these women personally, and we're going by what we see on a heavily edited and producer-driven reality show. It's one thing for us to discuss and even argue with one another here but it's another thing to "chase" these women on their socials, as if we know everything about them and their interpersonal dynamics. It's like, go touch grass and find a hobby. I'd be willing to bet most of these people have folks in their lives who would say shit about how they do friendship. I keep harping on this, but the whole thing is really ridiculous to me.

I enjoyed Rinna in her early seasons because she played it as if she were her Melrose Place character, Taylor McBride, but as Lisa Rinna.
-
I feel as if every episode title has RHOBH in it. She truly cannot let it go. She does talk about other things, but not sure why she feels the need to talk about the show anymore.
-
She makes it seem like she approached Andy and was like, "I just can't do this anymore. I'm mourning." Nah. You were fired, Rinna. Or as Dorinda would say, "put on pause." Even Brandi responded to that with "You were fired." LOL
-
Rinna also tried to blame part of it on the death of Lois (who seemed like a wonderful woman, despite her tragic backstory). I have listened to a few of Harry/Lisa's podcast episodes. Harry seems so down-to-earth, but yeah, Rinna still mentions this show on the podcast. Although she seems to frame the experience as if she quit the show. LOL. I do believe she's coaching some current HWs offscreen because some of the fights sound eerily like things she would've mentioned if she were still on the show.
-
I can't freaking believe I forgot about Rinna! She really blew herself up on this show. The upside for Rinna is she doesn't have the legal troubles Erika does. LOL
-
I don't think Garcelle's an asshole. I'm looking at it more from the perspective of Garcelle's lived an interesting life and has had a pretty robust career. I think being part of the HWs franchise can, to a degree, cause permanent damage to one's image if they're not careful with how they behave on the shows. Sometimes I think being on a show like this, and staying on long enough to become a villain, can ultimately backfire on a HW who's thinking of her life beyond the show. A lot of the BH fans really hate Sutton. I'd wager, at some point, they would start to seriously ask how Garcelle can stay friends with someone like her.
-
FWIW, I don't disagree with most of what you've been saying on this issue. I've been vocal about why she lost me a bit by the end of this season. Right now, it's not particularly popular to criticize Garcelle for any legitimate reason. Even for those of us who still genuinely like her as a person. I do think there's self-preservation with regard to Garcelle and her image because, out of all the BH HWs, she has (probably) the cleanest backstory. The email blast to her ex-husband's coworkers about his cheating on her seems like the most egregious part of her backstory. Otherwise, she's normal and seems to have a lot of friends, acquaintances, and colleagues who genuinely adore her. I'm not sure going on this show was the best idea for Garcelle, but I'm guessing it was to draw attention to her career pivot into producing films. As far as HWs go, she's pretty inoffensive. Almost too normal for this show.
-
Sutton struck me as exhausted by the end of this season. I honestly hope she leaves this show because I don't think she has the emotional/mental fortitude to continue with it. As far as Garcelle is concerned, had I been her, I would've bailed (at least) a season or two ago because of the racial microaggressions and when her young sons were being attacked by racists (many of whom are likely a huge part of the RHOBH fanbase, if we're being totally honest, given how unhinged so many of them are). But Garcelle is now free to live her life and stay busy. That's her real revenge against this show. Not needing it anymore. At this point, I'd be surprised if she ever returned, even for a one-off guest spot. I also think quite a bit of it is related to the fact that Garcelle has had a steady career off the show and doesn't want to damage her brand/name by going full-tilt asshole the way that Rinna, Erika, and Dorit have.

HWs fans can't even give it a rest on a holiday, so I'm not posting the bullshit, but rather to highlight that Sutton liked this post.

So, for fun, I want to address the content in these Reddit posts. I believe Garcelle and Sutton had an onscreen friendship that turned into a real life friendship. I don't think they were bffs, but they hung out and did things together. That said let's assume Garcelle never liked Sutton and only hung out with her because Sutton was "the least objectionable" HW. What does that say about Garcelle and her judgment when it comes to friends, if everyone else thinks Sutton is the most terrible person alive? There are fans who think Sutton (and Reba) are hardcore racists, and gush about how awesome Garcelle is. But she can't be that awesome if she was friends with Sutton for five years. Also, if Garcelle was never really Sutton's friend, and Sutton watched all the episodes like we did, she would've been making mental notes and realizing Garcelle was only half in it with her, so she was under no obligation to give backup to someone who never really liked her. I don't waste my time, energy, and defense on someone who doesn't actually like me. Having someone's back suggests a real friendship is involved, and not someone you merely tolerate. Please don't come down too hard, as I'm just theorizing based off these posts. 🤣 I think they were friends. I liked them as friends, and liked them individually.

Or when she ordered pizza and gave her last name before adding "Countess."
-
I don't think that's an unpopular opinion within the fanbase, tbh. For what it's worth, I tend to agree. Watching Sutton trying to work her way through her "mother issues" was a tough watch. She'll probably never get the resolution she desires on that front. The part that most blew my mind was when Andy asked Sutton about what her mother thought about being on the show. Sutton responded that her mother hadn't watched the show, yet. LOL. I thought to myself, "Wait until Reba sees that TH of Sutton talking about how she was raised by a narcissist, and was married to one." I'm guessing, based off her TH, Sutton is in therapy. At least, I hope she is. She's still got a lot of work to do on herself. OMG, Countess Luann. I've only seen about a handful of RHONY episodes. She's the perfect person to be a HW.
-
I'm so glad that you watched it too. We've all heard the gossip over the years, but when it's in your face all these years later, it hits differently. You know what I mean? As far as RHOBH goes, I should stop watching it now, but I enjoy interacting with all of you here. It's a dilemma. LOL. Garcelle leaving makes me sad, but I don't blame her for leaving. She has so many wonderful things happening in her life, and she doesn't need this show anymore. I still like Sutton. I can relate to her about her mother issues, although I turned out differently than her. She's deeply insecure and a self-saboteur. I want her to get her shit together. She still has a lot of unresolved trauma. I'm not happy with how she screwed up things with Garcelle. I'm not happy with how fans have been going after both of them, and this includes the nastiness directed at the other HWs. I hate the way many fans have been cheering over the demise of Garcelle/Sutton's friendship. For me, friendship breakups are the worst, even over boyfriend breakups. It doesn't matter what caused the friendship breakup, it's still emotionally difficult to navigate through the aftermath. Other HWs have said that Garcelle and Sutton had a real life friendship, so it wasn't just for the show. The whole situation bums me out.

Definitely. That last episode of the Vice show was about ANTM. Janice Dickinson was one of the interviewees. We alI know she had a hardcore rep while on ANTM. On the Vice series, Janice was in a genuine state of contrition. She took accountability for the fact that her comments fucked with the contestants' self esteem. I was glad to see her apologize on camera, even though I know the show's been off for years. There was a ANTM producer who spoke at length about the production stuff. Tyra, however, wasn't on it. I thought she was the worst when it came to delivering soul crushing critiques. I especially remember being shocked by how Tyra would speak to the young African American contestants who looked up to her as an American success story. She was super hard on them. Unrelenting.

There's always been a dark underbelly (even in the early seasons) of the HWs franchise. Also having watched Vice's Dark Side of Reality TV docuseries (there was a HWs episode) and the two-part Jerry Springer docuseries (the producer-driven manipulations were similar to what we see on reality shows) has me looking at all these HWs very differently. We've all known about the behind-the-scenes aspects of these shows, but it hits differently when it's distilled into an episode or docuseries, especially with all these years of hindsight, from when these shows first came onto the scene.

Another Sutton one. But also one under Jennifer's account. I'm not a fan of Erika, but no one should be attacking her under another woman's IG.
