think in regards to being comic-accurate & pleasing the fans, it's important to get the character right, but not so much the stories.  Like how Robert Downey Jr. was basically "Iron Man jumped off the page into movies".  Or how Chris Evans embodied Captain America.

For the most part I agree, Deadpool is a perfect example of getting the tone/characters right while developing a new storyline.

However, there are instances where movies are trying to adapt a specific/well known (at least to comics fans) storyline, where i think they need to prioritize the story over the character...looking at you Dark Phoenix/Age of Apocalypse

  2. I enjoyed this episode.  I had no idea what that animal was that was being hit with the laser but, I hope Omega finds a way to free it and let's it wreak havoc.

Even so, I want him to open all the cells and just bark out an order and watch the Clones take over. It would be awesome.

    I would love this.

Gambit has always been my favorite X-Men character, too, but I was happy Channing never got to play the role. While I appreciate his admiration for the character, he was just never the right person in my mind (and we know that is all that matters 😀) for the role.

I remember when the Gambit movie was announced,  I couldn't see it and was quite unhappy,  especially after Wolverine Origins.  I could bitch about Wolverine Origins for days...only good thing was casting Reynolds as Deadpool (but they still managed to screw it up).

Making Emma Frost, Silver Fox's sister? 😏 Having her already in her Diamond form (which I think is her secondary mutation) was bad, the only good thing IMO was they hinted at Emma/Scott which I loved but, I hate Jean Grey and Jean/Scott. Sadly, I must accept those 2 are OTP, pretty sure Scott/Jean are back together, perhaps still in the Thruple with Wolverine. 🤢

Okay, so what if the Silver Surfer in the MCU is from Zenn-La, makes a deal with Galactus to spare the planet, and goes on to be his herald until reaching earth and confronting the F4?  Everything about the character's motives, emotions, personality and ethics are the same, and the plotline and visuals are presented with all the gravitas of the original comics.  The only difference is that instead of a shiny naked guy on a surfboard, it's a shiny naked lady.  Why is that a big deal?  If it's the same story with the same messages, it should have the same meaning right?

Instead of casting a woman to play Norrin Radd and call it diversity they should use Juno and, introduce her and HER origin story to the mass audience. If they are doing Shalla-Bal, they could maybe get away with it if they skip the Origin Story and, have her be reunited with Norrin Radd centuries later only for him to die (off screen/backstory) leaving her the Herald of Galactus.  That could be an interesting storyline,  especially if Fantastic Four's universe is destroyed and, they have to jump to the MCU where Norrin Radd is alive as the Herald of Galactus.

IMO the biggest push back from comic fans is unnecessary changes to known characters. What Marvel should be doing is utilizing the already exisitng gay, minority, female characters and bringing them to the attention of the mass audience.

Now, granted some of that may have been because X-Men/Alpha Flight/New Warriors(?) were sold to FOX.

Woah, is that Azazel and Lady Deathstrike standing in front of the giant Ant-Man head at 1:51?

    Let's fucking go!

Wow that was really good, it felt like a Halloween episode, the show has a lot of potential, it's a shame that so many episodes use the same formula over and over again.

I was thinking the same thing, totally felt like a Halloween episode.

I liked this episode, the reward of the week isn't a great hook and since there aren't a lot of regulars/character interaction they need to have good/interesting guest characters

  7. I saw Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warefare and the Redband Deadpool trailer was the same one the released a few weeks ago. I was so disappointed 😞

And now I'm in, just please,  please be better than DP2.  I still laugh at the overturned 20th Century FOX

Edited: Smile...Wait for the Flash 🤣

Spoiler alert, you won't get that. He was closer to Odd Job from Kelly's Heroes for much of the movie

I saw this and stopped looking (didn't want to be spoiled) I went in thinking Kelly's Heroes and right when they go to Fernando Po and the plan changed I worried it would end up being more Dirty Dozen than Kelly's Heroes. I'm glad they all survived.

I watched Jeremy Jahns review yesterday and he mentioned that the movie was just Henry Cavill and a bunch of characters who's names he didn't know or remember.   I find that hysterical because they said their names repeatedly during the mission. If anything it was the people back home, I didn't know...well really just Cary Elwes. Sir Ian Fleming was easy to remember as was Churchill (for obvious reasons).

The only thing that didn't work for me was the "romance" if that's what you'd call it between March-Phillips and Marjorie. I get these are real people and they ended up getting married shortly after Operation Postman but, at the end when March-Phillips was like, no they'll make it and he says some comment about Marjorie I was like how the track could he know that? They spent all of 5 minutes together. I can only assume there's a cut scene that explained it.🤷‍♀️

All in all, a good flick not what I expected from a Guy Ritchie movie and not quite up to the classics we've been comparing it to but, a fun movie with good action and evil villains that got what they deserved.

    So, it's Camden, Maine.
    Not Camden, NJ, heh.

Yeah, I didn't think there were any docks in Camden NJ:

I saw this thread title before watching the episode and was like oh, cool Jersey...nope.

This one was OK, I didn't like it as much as last week's.  As much as I enjoy weekly procedurals the weekly reward isn't a great hook for me.

  10. Oh it's getting interesting.  I have no idea of the source material but, I'm curious with everything going on. We apparently have Aliens possibly coming to invade. Scientists being placed in a stop progress or die scenario.

I'm curious as to the VR game, they changed the setting and interaction based on the players ancestry but, the little girl stayed the same. I am assuming that the little girl is also the adult guardian/npc pushing the gamers along.

This looks pretty cool, I honestly thought D&D would show titties just because, but they didn't

I had no idea what this show was about but, I read this as Dungeons and Dragons and was confused when I watched the first episode and, couldn't understand why they weren't playing DnD. 😁

It makes sense that this was made by GoT show runners because it had a few GoT actors.

The first episode has me interested. I don't know enough about physics or science to say what does or doesn't make sense.  The characters are interesting and I'm curious as to the character dynamics/relationships

Edit to add one more thing. It took me a day, but I realized that the Trandoshan the black ops guy was referring to was Cid.

Oh man, Cid was the one that told them about the Pirate? I didn't even realize...

This was a really good episode,  I thought for sure Crosshair would get the tracker placed or that Omega had a secret 2nd tracker lower that the missed. I was surprised at the darker turn but, I think that's just setting up Emerie to die saving Omega and the Force Sensitive kids.

I'm not sure all of the Batch will make it out alive but, I can see Omega going into hiding with maybe Hunter or Crosshair (I go back and fourth on who dies).

Really good episode, the gym owner seemed like a nice guy so I never saw that coming, and that's a good thing!

Same I wondered if the fighter was involved but, the trainer caught me by surprise which is nice.

I liked this episode,  I like that we're getting more interactions with the team and that team members are interacting without Colter.

  14. I agree that using Galactus now is a huge waste, it's something to build up to. Unless we don't get Galactus only the Herald. Similar to how we only got hints of Thanos in Avengers 2012 and  Guardians had Ronin working for Thanos.

Or maybe The Herald and Galactus are the impetus for what brings Fantastic Four from their Universe, into the MCU?

  15. Isn't that his girlfriend? Pretty sure she does become a Herald in some AU. I wonder if this is a sign that Fantastic Four aren't from the 60s in MCU but another universe altogether?

I kind of thought they'd have the FOX universe as a single Universe but, it's totally possible they are playing at F4-Univer and X-Universe,  Sony-Spiderverse and MCU

The TL;DR version of this: I don't think Omega is Force sensitive. I think she could trained to use the Force though.

Omega like all clones isn't force sensitive but, I believe she's a unique clone which they can use as the basis to clone Palpatine and, he can keep his access to The Force.

I totally forgot about Ventress being in this season, so I was quite excited when she showed up.

  17. I think this was the weakest episode so far. I really wanted to like it because, horses but, found some of the scenes just dumb. I did like the divorcing owners though.  The "money" guy was so one note. I also didn't see any chemistry between Colter and Billie but, that's usually the way with real life couples, there's no onscreen heat

Thing is, I am not Superhero fatigued at all...I just don't appreciate that Marvel is now doing all the things I hated about the DCEU

I agree with this, I think Marvel spread themselves thin and it compromised the quality of each product/platform.

IMO the reason is that they had too many balls in the air, desperately trying to keep a Connected Cinematic Universe while pumping out more product to fill theaters and give D+ content.
