  1. It bothers me that People and other media outlets keep quoting Dan’s apology during the show with no context. For those reading in the media who don’t watch, or I guess may be foggy on the episode, it was like pulling teeth to finally get that out of Dan. And came after a long line of “I’m so sorry if when it was freezing outside and we were all shivering you felt like I moved to close to you” BS, along with grabbing Noura to demonstrate how innocent his touches supposedly were. After that whole tribal council, the apology he finally spit out at the end meant nothing. But reading those articles, it could pass as appalled at how others viewed him.

And even with all this time to prep, I expect them to botch it at the reunion.

I have a feeling everything said will be very calculated and edited because of the potential lawsuits out there.

  3. They also noted that the passage of time really worked in their favor. Going after him too soon, even a few years, after she disappeared they knew the runaway argument could have carried more weight. That many years without a peep really swayed the DA to accept the case.

Wasn’t that part about her social security number being used crazy? I know it ended up being a typo, but another nurse in the same state was just insane!

  4. That post makes me feel terrible for Kellee. No matter why Dan was ultimately ejected, we saw what he did to her. And now she has to read that “most” of her cast mates still don’t believe her. I read Jeff’s further comments and he’s all “editing, you idiots believe everything they show you, blah blah” and it makes me so angry. Editing did not create the times we saw Dan physically touch Kellee and her repeatedly ask him to stop.  That all happened!

What a freaking mess all of this is.

I don’t know if anyone’s watching tonight’s episode, and I don’t know if it’s a rerun but I’m sitting here crying.... women being found in the trash?? And a detective with a profound religious bond with these women.... and the mothers ....

I had not seen this one. But seeing the detective praying at the landfill and thinking of that being the grave of four poor women had me crying, too. I cannot imagine living with that.

I watch it on hulu so I don't get previews.  what did it show?

    Spoiler

It showed Lea and Shaun in their clothes sitting on the bed the next morning and Lea asking if they were going to talk about what happened. Then Shaun telling Glassman that touching Lea felt different than touching Carly.  And finally, Carly asking Shaun if something happened with him and Lea.

I am confused why there are so many comments speculating about Lea and Shaun becoming an item because she was comforting him?  I have a male friend who we both have no romantic interests in each other, in fact I think he might be on the spectrum.  A few months ago I got some really devastating news and he came over and held me while I cried until we both fell asleep.  We got up the next morning.  Went for waffles and continued on with our friendship.  When you are single you need people around who will hold you when you need it and it wont' turn into having to worry about sex.

I don’t want to spoil it if you didn’t see, but the preview for the next episode is what has so many speculating. I didn’t think anything of the ending until I saw that.

  8. I did a little social media investigating after Friday’s episode. It looks like the older daughter who was selling drugs for her mother and living with Melissa at the end of the episode no longer speaks to Melissa. The younger daughter was raised by Melissa, but is Facebook friends with her biological mother.

I’m guessing there was a lot of family drama that continued for years with that awful woman. What a terrible situation.

Serious question about Lucy (Jack's wife): Can pregnant women eat shrimp safely?  Isn't it raw?

Shrimp is not served raw, at least in the US. Raw shrimp is grey and has a full shell with a head and legs. Shrimp cocktail (like they had) is either steamed or boiled, cleaned, and served chilled. And is safe in moderation for pregnant women.

There may be exceptions, but women generally don't want to be touched in those ways by anyone they are not in an intimate relationship with or at least close friends.

A man knows what women he has permission to touch and the rest are off limits until such time as the woman has made it clear it is OK.

Amen. I have crazy naturally curly hair that gets in my face if not pulled back. My spouse, children, parents, and a few close friends will push it back for me. No one else has ever tried. Co-workers, grocery checkers, and even more distant friends have pointed out when I have a crazy stray curl, but none have ever physically moved it for me.

But none of that matters. Even if he felt close enough to Kellee to do that, she had already asked very nicely not to touch her. And he kept touching her! All of the excuses he blabbered at the tribal council have no weight when the woman asked you not to touch her!

Before this episode really got into the meat of where it was going, they showed the merge feast and Dan, rather calculatedly it appeared at the time, laid on the floor and he absentmindedly reached over and stroked the calf of someone standing or sitting near him (Missy, I gather) and right then, I knew that the warning at the top of the show was going to be about Dan’s inappropriate touching.

It was Elizabeth’s calf he grabbed while he was lying behind the table. I think a lot of what Elizabeth said was true, but apparently it did not bother her or creep her out the way it did with Kellee, and I think Missy, too.

But I do keep thinking of a couple episodes back where they were joking about it after he snuggled up to Elizabeth at night. Even if it didn’t bother her, the fact that she even brought it up shows that she knew it was odd behavior, at a minimum.

That was my take too, but it doesn't seem to fit with everything we have seen about after Jack died.  In this episode we saw Randall help her get the job, but presumably once she gets it she actually works and takes care of herself. We know she bought the house herself (or with Miguel's help) while Randall was at school. And in the past three seasons Rebecca has certainly appeared capable of taking care of herself.

I have a vague memory of Randall yelling at Kevin and/or Kate about staying behind to take care of Rebecca after Jack died a season or 2 ago. I think there have been some hints of this along the way.

I thought both patients this week were exceptionally good actors.  The look on her face while she was looking at the window and realizing that the world was open to her was great.  And he was heartbreaking without falling back on "I'm a cute kid."  IMDB doesn't have their names listed yet, but kudos to them and to the casting director.

Speaking of cute, Shaun's live emoji was hilarious.

I’m pretty sure the girl was Haley Ramm, who I know from an old Freeform show called Chasing Life. She is a very good actress.

I just posted some info in Christine's thread. Definitely polygamists, a new branch formed from FLDS members. Alma LeBaron left Utah in 1924 because of problems practicing polygamy. The family settled in Mexico. His son Ervil was the one who ordered the killing of Rulon Allred, as well as other family and non-family members. Ervil had 13 wives and a bajillion kids. Ervil was extradited to the US and found guilty of murder. Died in prison in 1981 but had ordered more murders while in prison. It is estimated 25 more people were killed on those orders. Christine is directly related to Ervil LeBaron and Rulon Allred.

According to family members in Utah and here in AZ, many of the remaining  Mexico members had been considering returning to the States due to the increasing violence. Ironic considering the family's murderous background.

Thanks for that! I’ll check in Christine’s thread, too. I wasn’t sure where the right place to discuss this might be.

I’ll admit, my first thought when I saw the names involved was more along the lines of Big Love than violence in Mexico being to blame, that warring polygamist sects had something to do with it. I definitely watch too much TV.

And with that ominous baseball cap that said "The End"! Come on! I was waiting for something to happen to her since they left the car.

The End was the bar in Montauk where many of the events of season 1 were centered. I thought it was a nice callback. They may have been trying to be too obvious with the impending fires, but I took it to be more about tying everything together, as they did in the conversation.

  16. Did they purposely leave it up In the air as to whether Noah believed his mom is innocent? I really could not tell based on his answers at the end.

I’m wondering if the other brother Matt was more of a suspect than the story told? They gave very little information on him, but him being there, and the body being moved, had me thinking there was more to him.

I was all in with mom doing it until the defense brought up the coffee and him possibly eating the leftovers the next morning. My spouse eats weird leftovers for breakfast, too. But those letters, emails, and internet searches kept me away from full “reasonable doubt” I think. And they did have his initial time of death within the timeframe of right before or after they left that morning, so probably not likely he woke up and ate a full meal. I think.

  17. I felt like production/Jeff were totally trolling because they weren’t happy with the forced product placement. The tribe reactions felt like forced over the top nonsense. But what really convinced me was that they chose Karishma, who they’ve edited as a whiny dead weight wet blanket all season, to give the only talking head where she enthusiastically exclaimed Applebee’s!Is!My!Favorite!Restaurant!Ever!!!!  It’s like they purposely chose the worst spokesperson out there. “Okay Crapapplebee’s, we’ll do your stupid infomercial, but we’re gonna make sure it looks as ridiculous as possible!”

  18. I feel like I missed this in previous seasons, but didn’t they live in an apartment in the pilot, in the first scene when Rebecca was hugely pregnant? With boxes all over like they were packing? Or was that supposed to be the bedroom in their house?
