  1. I was getting Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) vibes from her, but I can see the others mentioned, too. And maybe a little Sissy Spacek?
  2. As long as TLC is making money from this show and the family continues signing contracts, they won’t stop filming. They don’t care even a tiny bit about the ethics of this. See: the re-branding of 19 Kids to Counting on, forcing the victims of terrible things to continue filming. The sad state of society is that this will bring viewers. That is seriously all TLC cares about.
  3. I would have liked more of the interview with the other daughter/Jenelle’s sister. The short bit they showed, she talked about how manipulative Jenelle was. But did she believe their parents were part of it? Did she think Jenelle was capable of what it looks like was double catfishing?
  4. I was so sad for Heather’s dad, and her son, losing their wife and grandmother so soon after everything was finally as “normal” as it could be for all of them. I’m really wondering how the grandparents managed to get full custody when it seemed definite that the father wasn’t involved in the murder. I admire that grandfather so much, in the interview he really said only positive things about his grandson’s father, and refused to give Dennis any information about what sounds like some bad situations between his daughter and her husband. I have to think that was for his grandson’s benefit, to not speak ill of his father. This one just really hit me harder than most. This poor 25 year old mother, murdered by her mother in law front of her baby at Target, of all places. What a terrible tragedy.
  5. Based on that pic it looks like all the kids and their partners were given flowers. I love that Christine included everyone. Very much hoping that Gwen & Bea not attending doesn’t cause a rift between Christine and Gwen.
  6. Where is Savannah living now? Is she not with Janelle in Flag (if J still lives there) anymore? ETA a tiny bit of side eye at Maddie if she traveled for her pink drink party weekend but not her sister’s wedding…
  7. They really zoomed in on her brother’s bracelet, which had blurred bar codes and looked suspicious. I wonder what the story with his deceased wife, brother, and mother is.
  8. They had his DNA because that’s how the Utah prosecutor got involved. An assault there that had never been properly investigated was re-opened when the prosecutor saw how many old sexual assault cases had never been addressed (which I’m guessing is why the police there hated him and allegedly helped crazy Nicholas/Alexander with a smear campaign). The DNA from the Utah case matched with what they had gotten from his sex offender registration. I kept thinking Scotland must have stricter rules about testing DNA, because that would’ve solved the whole crazy thing much faster.
  9. Catching up here after a hiatus. Did Meri actually charge $6000 for a weekend with her at her B&B?! And people actually paid? For comparison, Jen Hatmaker, who is “Instagram famous” and also a successful author, is currently offering a Caribbean cruise with her, $2k at most (and that’s for the highest tier room). And that’s for a cruise, not some random B & B in the middle of Utah. I don’t get it.
  10. The biggest thing I learned from this episode is how little respect Keith has for the internet sleuthers! He spoke of them with disdain, for sure.
  11. I don’t watch the show anymore, and only follow along here, but I had to comment. That is some serious gaslighting abuse BS. If the interviewer allowed that and didn’t call it out, that is beyond messed up.
  12. The crazy thing is, I haven’t watched in years, since the last Vegas season. I just follow along here. The older kids are the same age as my oldest so I was always more attached to them.
  13. Let’s see if I can guess this correctly. Back, from left: Aspyn, Maddie, Myelti; front: Hunter, Logan, Leon, babies are Paedon/Garrison?
  14. Both Maddie and Mykelti married young, during what most consider normal college years. I think that was part of their decisions, too. If I remember correctly, Aspyn got married just before or just after graduating. She was also very involved in sorority and campus life, which the other two tried but didn’t seem to fully embrace like she did.
  15. He absolutely did that to get validation from his family that she’s not the right fit for him. He knew what their reaction would be. I wondered if his crying sister knew about his “Everyone should be allowed one unplanned free pass, but that’s it” philosophy.
  16. I admit to knowing next to nothing about investigating crimes and the legality of what is allowed, but it felt like the Canadian police were able to do a lot more with this investigation than we typically see from similar cases on this show. The phone wire tapping, multiple undercover agents offering various solutions (the one dying of cancer in a wheelchair really stuck out to me), recording conversations in an ice shack, placing a recording device on a suspect without him being aware, etc. Do they have more resources, or more of a legal avenue to do all of this?
  17. I wondered if the police thoroughly examined her house in the immediate aftermath of Timmy going missing. The one female detective who interviewed her later mentioned the bannister on the stairs being replaced. That definitely raised my suspicions. I’m assuming that duplex was a rental, and who does major home improvement projects in a rental? I know it was the early 90s, but I vividly remember a true crime TV movie back then about a murder and the room lit up with Luminol, so that had to be something they could have used do investigate, right? I wish had talked more about looking at the house. My theory is she accidentally knocked him down the stairs and he hit his head. :(
  18. It was in an early episode, when Christine talked about her fears with this pregnancy and her choice to give birth in a hospital instead of at home. I think it was a late miscarriage/stillbirth before Truely and Christine hemorrhaged at home and was very, very sick.
  19. What’s even more interesting to me is that most of the other adult Brown kids do not participate in Mormon-like lifestyles, such as not drinking, cursing, or cohabitating before marriage. It makes me wonder how well Garrison fits in with his older siblings.
  20. It’s a quote from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
  21. She definitely left, both she and Kody posted on social media and did interviews with some regular media. Whether it’s “for good” or not, only time will tell. But she seems to be very much enjoying her single mom life near her adult children and granddaughter, for now.
  22. I cannot imagine her putting Truely, and even Ysabel, through that. Getting a “pretend divorce” and moving miles away for the sake of a TV show would be a pretty horrible thing to do to a 10 year old. I know the TV show in itself is not great for a kid, but that goes beyond. Everything I’ve seen from Christine on social media supports her leaving.
  23. I think it’s maybe a combination of Robyn and the show. We all know reality show marriages rarely survive, and here’s yet another example. I think the show took the family on a completely different path than they would have been on, and ultimately ended up opening Christine’s eyes to the world outside of of her old “I believe love should be multiplied, not divided” catchphrase. Obviously Robyn didn’t help. When Kody refused to hug or get near Ysabel (before she got on a plane to her major surgery, for god’s sake!), I had a flashback to him sneaking a hug and kiss to his then girlfriend Robyn while on his way to the birth of Truely. To Christine, who if we remember, had been nervous entire pregnancy after nearly dying during her previous delivery. It struck me that the same man who could spare a hug and a kiss (which in their belief system is only for marriage) for his girlfriend while his wife was laboring in the hospital could not even give his daughter a freaking pat on the arm. A lot of reality show jerks are loud, obnoxious, easy to recognize and hate because they’re creating a character. With Kody, I believe it is just all him. He’s truly a despicable man.
  24. I have a hard time holding Christine very responsible for all of this. When she got married, she was a young girl who had been raised in a cult that was barely one step away from the prairie dress wearing FLDS. By the time we “met” her, she had long been in a marriage as the established third/last wife, which at the time she thought was the very best position to be in. She was still so sheltered. When they moved to LV she freaked out at the thought of her kids going to a non-Mormon Christian youth group because of the exposure they’d get. That Christine compared to the one we see now is an entirely different person. She has grown in leaps and bounds, and even though many of us saw the writing on the wall years ago, I’m just impressed she finally does too. Her choices now, and all of the snarky comments to and about Kody, go so far against the Keep Sweet lessons she’d learned since childhood. I know she’s not completely innocent in everything that brought her here, but when you really look back at how far she’s come, to me, it’s pretty amazing. I do wonder how similar her mom’s path was.
  25. She seems like a completely different person! Like a 1000 pound weight has been lifted off her shoulders and she can finally be happy.
