  1. Of course it’s hard to know what one would do in these kinds of situations, but I would think instead of Jeannette’s parents being concerned about her lying when they discovered the key, they’d be worried about her being a victim of the kidnapping abuser, as well. Anytime I have heard of a case of abuse by a well-known person, there are always worries in the community of who else they victimized. As a parent I would want to know WHY she had that key.

  2. I’m thinking Gary puking in the shelter was a fake out. He seemed a little too dramatic to the camera when he “felt sick” and he’s totally the type of person to pull that stupid prank. And he just happened to start retching as Max walked in. I’ve watched too many cliffhanger reality shows that end in a big nothingburger.

Monica was kind of . . . scary, no?

Every time Monica was on the screen she reminded me of a character in 50 First Dates. And I feel like a terrible human being for saying that.

  4. I did a bit of social media stalking on the family. It seems that the sister is actually very close to the kids, as the daughter claimed. One comment in a post sounded like the maternal grandparents had to fight their father for grandparents’ visitation rights, which kind of goes against the narrative of the father having them be a part of the kids’ lives all these years, as the daughter seemed to be telling it. The sister also has posts about bringing the murderer to justice going years back, so it seems that after her death there was some healing about their relationship. It made me feel bad that she was dragged through the mud so much on the show, when the end result was that there was no evidence of an affair and the investigators didn’t think there ever was one.

Part of me wants to be hard on the daughter for the way she seems to defend her father, but I have no idea what it would be like to be in those poor kids’ shoes. She didn’t even really understand that her mother was murdered until she was a teenager, then had to read all the accusations against the father who was still raising her online. It’s so much anyone to process, but for an adolescent, I cannot even begin to imagine.  I hope they are all in therapy now. At least she’s not like so many other adult kids we see, still in complete denial that he could have killed her mother. She’s accepted it, and likely for her only mental well-being, has found a way to compartmentalize it.

When I googled I found that bodies can decompose in as little as 3 weeks, depending on weather, heat, humidity, etc.

Yep. If I ever get arrested for anything, I’m telling my defense attorney to call all of you so you can help explain my years of Google history!

  6. At the beginning of the episode they mentioned Taylor disappeared just before Hurricane Irma hit. I’m thinking that’s what washed away any DNA evidence at the scene, not anything Ashley the former CSI agent did.

I was a bit morbidly curious that they only found bones at the burial site, just 6 weeks after the murder. I guess I thought it took longer to decompose that much.

  7. It’s been a while since we didn’t hear about a victim “lighting up the room” or being the best most beautiful creature ever. I think the biggest compliment we heard was from the ex, “she was hot and she knew it.”  What?!

Taylor seemed like kind of a mess, but she did not deserve what happened to her. Her poor son.

Not sure why anyone cares about this loser creature. He's been on sixty five shows, has jumped fences, etc and still isn't interesting. Hooray for coming out, but please just go away.

It’s not that I care about Colton personally, but it’s disappointing at best, triggering at worst, to see someone rewarded after stalking and emotional abuse. It’s difficult to explain, but to some who have been on the receiving end of those disturbing behaviors, seeing a public figure basically get a free pass and have all of that swept under the rug is difficult. It can make one question their own experience and choice about whether to come forward when they see an end result like this.

I realize there are many (many) celebrities who have also had very few repercussions after abuse claims, but since this is The Bachelor thread and this is about Colton, I’m only talking about him here.

  9. On rewatch, Blair (Kathleen’s daughter) was pretty disparaging about Pete for all of her interview until the very end. I know they had to have her answer a certain way to keep up the “mystery” but looking back, and knowing she knew the truth the entire interview, it was kind of crappy of her to talk about Pete’s supposed drug use, how he was completely absent from his father’s life (which was later proven false when we heard Pete had his father legally removed from Kathleen’s care), that he continuously harassed her mother, and on and on. I’m hoping it was heavily edited and there was a lot of “my mom told me” instead of how it was presented. During the entire interview she was crying and I really thought it was because of her mom dying, but I guess it could have been over sadness for Pete and his family?

But I think parents do have their fantasies of the “perfect family” that will never be spoken out loud. Maybe it’s because a child was born with a disability and there’s a ghost fantasy where the child they love is able to walk or talk like everyone else. Or a child begins to struggle with substance abuse and the ghost fantasy erases that painful part. It wouldn’t mean the parent doesn’t love their child unconditionally and it wouldn’t mean they were ungrateful; it seems normal for people to wonder “what if” when there are painful real life issues.

In other words, if the character of Rebecca was a real person I would not be surprised if she had moments where she imagined what life would have been like if Kyle had lived, and then felt terribly guilty for erasing Randall.

This is such a great description. It’s also true for many mothers who have had a miscarriage, then another baby after. Every time you grieve the baby you lost, you realize if that had not happened you wouldn’t have the family you have. The grief/guilt cycle is real.

  12. That was a heartbreaker. I knew as soon as Pete came on the screen for his interviews with Natalie that he was sick, and had a bad feeling about how this would end. Having lost a close family member to cancer recently, there’s just a look they carry you can recognize. I’m glad he at least lived his last 100 days in freedom with his family, but that was not enough.

So so much wrong with this entire thing. I cannot imagine the trauma the 2 kids who were pulled into squad cars and interrogated for hours with no family members, then never saw their father home again, have had to overcome. That should have been a lawsuit. I also wondered if there was video or gas receipts from the QT parking lot where Kathleen was supposedly harassed? I do not understand how in 2 trials there was never anything brought up about gun residue on her hands. Shouldn’t that have been one of the first things the defense attorney looked into? Wouldn’t that have been included in her autopsy?

I honestly don’t understand how so much was missed.  Did the DA withholding information really mean none of the actual evidence was available? Did the defense attorney just not ask the right questions?

And finally, on a shallow note, half of those interviewed had seriously bloodshot eyes. The crew needed to be giving Visine out!

  13. The blonde strands hanging out of the bottom of that lady’s wig cracked me up! You know they could have fixed that for her, but I think the producers were having way too much fun with this.

I definitely believe Bob ordered the hit, but I cannot figure out why he sent the cops to Joe. And it took him a while to get there, it’s not like in his first 2 interviews with police he said, I have this guy who had it out for me because I didn’t pay him. Very odd choice. And that letter was weird. Joe believed if he changed his story to killing her on his own he’d get a reduced sentence? What?! I think his prison mates are messing with him

Dateline didn’t mention the contradiction between Bob’s lawyer swearing Jane knew about his secret life and Bob swearing she knew nothing about it in their original interview with him.

Appliance repair guy/undercover mooning spy can only be played by the late James Gandolfini.

I'd have trouble believing a hospital would want to set itself up to be liable for whether someone's car seat was properly installed in their car.

The hospitals where I live have Labor & Delivery and NICU nurses trained as certified car seat techs to check the seats as part of the discharge process. I’ve also seen some hospitals with security guards who are certified.

ETA. I’m ancient.  Did all this shit happen before and we only know now because of the internet or has this world truly changed

A friend of mine’s mother and 3 youngest siblings (she’s the second oldest of 8 ) were killed by murder-suicide in the late 60s. She and the other siblings survived because they were in school. That was long before postpartum psychosis was even heard of, but is definitely what happened. Hearing her story taught me a lot, but this kind of thing has definitely been happening for a long time.

I'm not criticizing Wells as a parter at all - I hope my comment wasn't taken that way - I just noticed that he has gone through quarantine at least twice now to make brief appearances on the Bachelorette and Bachelor, so he's obviously still very attached to the franchise.

Not only does it likely pay him well (no pun intended) to do guest stints and keep up his recognition for his BIP bartender gig, but he’s also good friends with Chris Harrison, several former franchise stars and contestants, and a few producers. I think he enjoys being a part of Bachelor Nation in this capacity, both professionally and personally.

  17. One article mentions a photo from over a year ago of Dale in a group of people with his arm around the woman. Maybe he was cheating, maybe not, but using crap like that as “proof” is ridiculous.

Clare is contradicting herself. Her statement says she was shocked by Dale’s public admission of a breakup, yet other stories claim she’s been suspecting he was cheating for a long time. If that is true, a breakup wouldn’t really be shocking. Fighting about trust and possibly cheating does not typically signify a healthy relationship.

  18. There are posts about that Deuxmoi person in the spoiler thread from early November saying Clare and Dale weren’t together then. I’m not sure where or how they’re getting intel, but so far nothing that person has said has made it to any bigger name spoiler/reality news sites.

  19. My biggest takeaway from the cruise episode was that those supposedly super smart amazing PIs were using a pair of shoes to get measurements on the boat for a murder investigation. They did not seem as good at their jobs as they wanted us to believe. Maybe that’s why they work with dogs now?

  21. What a crappy thing for his ex to do. He is the father of her children. If he wanted the details of his split with his current wife private, why would she not respect that? Apparently she went to RS with the news a month before Carly gave birth to her son. Steve refused to spill it then, which actually changes my opinion of him slightly.

I know we all eat this gossip up, but unless Evan told his ex go ahead and spill the truth, what she’s doing is disgusting.

  22. And if Rachel is so angry at The Bachelor franchise for not editing her story accurately or in the way she wanted, why does she continue to make appearances for the show? And promote it on various podcasts and interviews specifically about the show? Others who had issues with how they were portrayed or how things turned out have distanced themselves and put the whole thing behind them, including former leads. Rachel doesn’t seem to have any issues continuing to promote the show.
