  1. What they were doing was very illegal. The wall breaking up the window to start with. But it does happen. Especially in buildings like that. Most likely the landlord is working on a deal to buy out the rent stabilized renter that is paying 300/mo and has been there since 1966. These deal can take a long time to settle (years even). They rent to dumb kids they know are going to do stupid things like make a lot of noise and build walls that would not pass a fire inspection. Once the deal is done with the long time renter. The building will be sold and the newer tenants will be given 30 days notice (if they complain the fact that the did something like build a wall will work against them). The building will either be knocked down or gutted and rebuilt.
  2. St. Ann's was an Episcopal church/school before it became an experimental schools for rich hippy artists kids in the 70s. There were a lot of old churches that were sold for not church purposes in the 70s...Limelight for example. Most were protestant churches. The catholics in NYC didn't start selling off their churches until the 90s. I think there is also an art center called St Anns that was related to the same church originally. I assume the hippies thought it was funny to keep the name but in the case of the Limelight club they changed it. I'm pretty sure the history of St Anns when it was an actual christian church was to convert poor catholic kids to protestants. So referring to it as a possible being catholic school is a bit insulting. LOL I know insult was not the intent. :)
  3. Definitely not a Catholic school. I think it's based on this school: http://saintannsny.org/about/
  4. I don't understand taking the daughters. Where were they when he was talking to Anne? But I can see why he would need to go there to dig up info. I think they established that he is a vigilante of some kind. I think he would need to go there to find out the who what where. I doubt they are going to go this far but even the hacking. To break into the schools network it would be easiest to get on it. Maybe by hacking into a wifi system of the schools. Also to gather evidence about the students phones...but this is not the show Mr. Robot so I doubt they will go there. But even to just find out the stories. Talking to the kids and other people involved will help to find out what to look for. But with two kids along?
  5. YES. Definitely. Lisa Rinna is just a bit older than me. The term dates back to at least WW2. And was used A LOT by the likes of Johnny Carson and Bob Hope on TV in the1970s. It was also used a lot by regular people. Specifically vets from both WW2 and Korea. For the most part Vietnam vets were more cultural sensitive the older vets and not as prone to saying things like that in everyday conversation. (I did a bit of volunteer work in the late 70s early 80s with vets in the NYC/NJ area so my information is based on that demographic).
  6. The Perez Hilton or TMZ of the time was Entertainment Tonight which premiered in 1981. It was the first modern daily tabloid show. It was so shocking at the time...now it seems so common the news format for gossip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entertainment_Tonight " first broadcast on September 14, 1981, and was the first syndicated program distributed via satellite" Yea there was a lot of newspaper gossip columnists, but that was old school newspaper world. ET with it's instant satellite program brought it to a new level. I will never forget my HS history teacher at the time watch it one night and came into school the next day ranting and raving about how this was the downfall of society. From the editing to the content of the show. Trying to explain to us 14 year olds how the media was manipulating us. He really was perturbed by the possibility that this would become more commonplace. He must have been around 50 years old at the time. I remember a lot the adults being very fearful the world had changed way too much since their youth. I can't help comparing this to the first season of Mad Men which was set in 1960. 22 years later the world had change much more than it has from 1990 until today.
  7. You are remembering this incorrectly. LuAnn asked Bethanney to introduce her as Mrs. de Lesspes. Which I think is totally appropriate for a 40+ women to request. LuAnn has had her moments of snobbery, but I think she gets a bad rap for that clip. The producers were totally messing with Aviva with the wheelchair thing. It seems to me that the producers were miffed she wasn't going and bring the crazy with her. Used Heather and Kristen to sell us the story. But despite how crazy Aviva is there is still a legit reason for her to use a wheelchair so not as funny. The producers used to do this a lot with the original OC show. The HW would say something like how clean her kitchen is switch to a shot of dirt in the kitchen. That stuff was funny, but the people on these reality shows got wise to that stuff.
