  1. Blocking her behavior in Season Six out of your memory eh? Good idea :)
  2. I'm assuming that Josh is the "Lover of Tomatoes." At least I hope so. This show needs more Josh.
  3. Elliot's response-"I've seen one or two" had me rolling. God, how I've missed this show.
  4. I have been championing this show all season but the finale really let me down. It just felt too forced and I don't think the decision just to focus on Scarlett, her mother and Dmitri's little gang was a great idea. This show was strongest with the focus on Vanessa's crew (not necessarily Vanessa) and Sam (yeah, I know I'm in the minority but I love the character). Of course some of my supposition from a few weeks ago turned out to be true-Dmitri is gone and I can't say I'm sad. The actor tried but I always felt he was channeling the Count from Sesame Street ("Von, Too, Tree. Tree Victims. Muah Buah Haa Haa Ha ha"-yeah, yeah with all due credit to "Buffy the Vampires Slayer" for coming up with that joke first). I'll see where they go next year but I can't help but feel the second half of Season Two-other than the addition of Scarlett-was a waste of time.
  5. If this show suffers from anything, it's really poor pacing. I have a feeling that we are going to get a lot more information...in the final episode-like we did in S1. I thought this episode was serviceable. It introduced new characters, killed at least one more off (I am still not sure what to think about Phil's possible death) and left hints that Vanessa might be gone for good. I'm not sure I buy that. I know a lot of people hate Vanessa and want to see her gone. I'm not sure the writers are willing to do that but we'll see. I just wish these episodes would flow together a bit more organically. I'm not sure what's achieved by splitting them into multiple groups and then just showing one group per episode. I still enjoy the show, don't get me wrong. I just think it should be moving at a faster pace than it has been.
  6. It was unless they are setting Sam up as the ultimate big bad of this show, eventually replacing Dimitri. He's certainly a much more entertaining villain. But yeah, other than revealing a few more things about Sam's backstory, that episode really didn't do much for the overall storyline. Grim as death though.
  7. Well, yeah...THAT happened. Seriously, there are times when I really don't know what to make of this show.
  8. Dirk Gently got cancelled. That just sucks. But I'm glad Van Helsing is getting a season three. Despite it's problems I still enjoy it.
  9. I'm really enjoying binging on the 'uncensored' version. Is it just me, or did some scenes get edited (not just the language) on the SyFy run?
  10. Yeah I'm pretty much in agreement with you here. The episode needed to show us what it showed us in order to move the plot along, and for the most part, I think it succeeded. Kelly Overton actually surprised me a bit in this one-she was actually quite good as Vanessa struggling to figure out what was going on. There was something very flat about her "mum's" joy seeing her and it became obvious fairly quickly that something hinky was going on. The last few episodes have not been quite as entertaining as earlier on in the season but they are at least moving the story forward a bit more efficiently. Despite my earlier, tongue in cheek post, I don't think she's really dead either. After all, she started the series in a 3 year long "mostly dead" state. If she's got vampire dna, it will probably take more than 3 bullets to do her in. I also don't buy the theory that the show is getting to replace Vanessa with Scarlett. I could be wrong of course but it seems just a little too pat.
  11. So, yeah this show really has no fucks to give. It's so wonderfully over the top, that I can't help but love the sheer audacity of it. Christopher Meloni has been a favorite actor of mine for some time but this performance has outdone even his work on "Oz." I like the writing, and although the storyline is a bit grim, I'm really into where it's going.
  12. "Oh my God, they killed Vanessa. Those bastards!!!!!" Said no Van Helsing fan ever :)
  13. I already loved the Julius character but that whole scene with the chips/nachos/kit-kits was pure gold. Easily one of the best characters on this show.
  14. OKay, seriously WTF did I just watch? This show makes the average "Gotham" episode look sane by comparison. I think I kind of love it.
  15. One might argue that being shot is less painful than dying of cancer but I've never had either happen to me so I don't know....
  16. This post so much. I absolutely loath TWD and I don't understand why some people still like it. It's become a boring, self indulgent mess. I think SyFy's "Z Nation" does a MUCH better job at this-on just about every level.
  17. All, I can say here is "Wow." Gotham finally pulled the trigger and gave a lot of fans what they had been wanting- a tacit admission by the writers that Jim Gordon is NOT the hero of this story, even if he might not actually be an intentional villain. Sophia was absolutely right in her speech. Everything that Jim has done since season one, since the pilot in fact, has been leading up to this point. Every shady deal he made, every skirt of the law he pulled, usually while trumpeting his own self righteousness has come at last come home to roost. Yeah, he's at least partially rebuilt the GCPD into something resembling an actual, functioning police department but at what cost? There are a LOT of dead people lying between him and his high minded ambition. What was that old saying about the Road to Hell and Good intentions? We can always ask Jim. He's clearly on it. 10/10
  18. The previews said next Spring so I'll hold them to that.
  19. After tonight's episode, we seem to be well past the 'flirting' part...and that really works for me.
  20. And tonight there was at least some flirting between him and Vanessa's sister. Damn dog. It's true what they say about Marines :)
  21. I think they hinted at the reason during the episode, particularly when Vanessa panicked when Axel stepped out into the sunlight. We've known since season one that Axel has a serious crush on her. I think it's starting to become apparent that she returns at least part of those feelings. Everybody she turned (back) other than Susan and Dylan she didn't give a rat's ass about. Axel is somebody she clearly cares about, and she was trying to avoid happening to him what happened to Dylan. I don't think it goes any deeper than that. As for the reason why Dylan died and the others haven't, I suspect it has something to do with the Van Helsing DNA.
  22. You know, looking at this thread, I can't help but wonder about what Sean Pertwee was thinking when he took this role 4-5 years ago. Fairly sure becoming a 'middle age sex symbol' wasn't on his top ten of things he wanted out of this show :)
  23. 2.05 "Save Yourself" Holy crap did this show ever just "grow the beard." Easily the best episode in the series so far. That battle between Vanessa/Julius and Sam was everything SyFy had promised in the teasers last week. They also managed to get just about every character in here this week, without making it feel crowded. I have to admit I never thought they'd actually kill Sam, at least not this early on. He's already one of the better villains currently on tv (and I watch "Game of Thrones" :): but there was a moment there when I thought he might actually buy it. I continue to ship Doc/Axel pretty hard and this week they had some very good scenes together. It was also good to see Phil and Mohammed again. The plotline is really starting to come together now as we finally see Dimitri back in the frame, gathering up Julius' remaining crew and making them swear allegiance to him. That accent still makes me cringe somewhat but at least he's actually doing something now. So yeah, first class episode and it really makes me hopeful for the rest of the season. 9/10
  24. 2.04 "A Home" A little late on commenting but overall I enjoyed this one. While I don't think it was quite as strong as episode 3 (not nearly enough Doc and Axel) I still think it's a considerable improvement over the first two and a strong indicator that the show is moving in the right direction. 1. Vanessa was nowhere near as annoying as she's been recently. The death of her whiney brat of a vampire spawn is actually having a positive effect on her. Keep it up please. 2. There aren't enough good (bad) things I can say about Sam. He's easily the most enjoyable character on this show. He's so insanely over the top that he's absolutely mesmerizing to watch. I'm actually hoping he manages to survive the oncoming clash with Vanessa that they're hyping for week 5. 3. I continue to like Julius. The actor is solid and he's actually a nice counterbalance to Vanessa's shallowness and stupidity. 4. No Phil and Mohammad this week but you can't have everything. 7/10
  25. Sorry. Didn't mean to renew the pain but yeah, I'm still heartbroken over the cancellation of what was, at the time, one of the more intelligent sci-fi shows on television. And yes, Van Helsing is back and the fourth episode (of 13) will be on this Thursday. Axel is back and fun as ever. He just doesn't like the sunlight too much anymore :)
