Kind of along this line, yesterday, my uber religious husband blurted out to me "if Mery (Flaco's widow) sends another invite for a family Rosary zoom meeting again today, please just dont tell me!" Of course, I agreed, and then he felt guilty the rest of the night. π In his defense, he would gladly just pray the Rosary with her every single day since it brings her comfort, or just talk with her (and his family) but some of them belong to a crazy (to us) cult-like evangelical church that just jump into the chat as soon as the Rosary is done and start yell-praying , and he hates it, and just can't take it any more. I feel like he's putting me in the middle of it, and it gives me a stomach ache...because I don't want to hurt Mery's feelings..she's so sweet and is hurting so much! I also feel like they're preying on her grief to suck her into their church, and I really despise them for it (but I love them too, and think they don't know any better because they are brainwashed in that "church" now.) π Sorry ...it's really been bothering me for a week...and I don't know how to solve it. I mean.. I mean intellectually I know everyone is involved is an adult and can make their own choices.. but the thing that really hurts my heart is that her daughter came out as a lesbian and the people in that church are trying to get her to go against her own daughter because being gay is an "abomination" π Flaco alwavs stood up for her..and now he's goneπππ. (Sorry..I'm a mess) I'm just going to send this anyway, this is my mind today.... PS..reading this back to myself, I think I'm just going to get up my courage to call Mery and tell her the reason my husband didnt join yesterday..about that church, how we think that are sucking her in, them condemning her gay daughter and ALL..I'm so OVER it...and it's just not right..what do I have to lose...

I went out for a walk today with my husband. Nether one of us have left our property since March 12. We drove to the park. Besides us, there were just 3 other people wearing masks, and there were lots of people all over the place. And nobody was keeping a social distance. We felt nervous and uncomfortable and left. Then I said, let's drive by Wal-Mart..I want to see how they set up the covid testing site I saw on the news (in the town next to us.) It was already gone! WTHeck?! And the parking lot was full to the brim with shoppers...All close together, and only a couple of them wearing masks (we didn't get out of the car.) Somehow I thought people here in Illinois were doing well at all of this.. Now I'm thinking this is going to go on even longer. π

Just yesterday, my niece shared a post in our (now) nightly family zoom chat that a young doctor posted on his private page. She only saw it because he tagged her husband in it (she's ok with it,btw.) Keep in mind he's a very new doctor, and English is his second language. But this just shows how much he took Flaco's death to heart. This has to be so hard on the healthcare workers. (and I know they are all exhausted.) π

That's it for the rest of the Illinois school year for all of our kids.π’ No graduations for my Senior in high school granddaughter, or the one in 8th grade. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/pritzker-to-announce-illinois-schools-will-remain-closed-for-rest-of-school-year-sources/2257533/

The bolded part is us! How are so many of you married to my husband!? π My husband and I only have one show we watch together now (Survivor.) Used to be more, but he (or I) lost interest in any other shows we used to watch together, like America's Got Talent, American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. We even have separate DVRs...I can't stand what he records, and vice-versa. Oh! I came here to say for anyone interested: (you can join a live chat, but I don't know if that's any good?)

DISNEY SING ALONG on ABC right now if anyone is interested. ( yes,I have eclectic tastes) π If you missed it, they're going to replay it tomorrow on Hulu. 4pm central (you'll have to do the math for where you are) Here's the full line up if anyone wants to see it. (it felt way too short to me.)

So...how is he managing his double life with this whole lockdown thing going on!? Does our husband have a super secret tele-port machine to travel between our houses?!

Believe you me..I have tried to get him online...my whole family has seen me try, over and over, for years. Of course, many of them thought "well *I* can get papi(dad) online..he just doesn't listen to mom.. I'll teach him." H A ! Every single one of them (my grown kids and grands) couldn't do it either (and no, I wasn't there, intimidating him..I left each time.) Btw, he is very smart and capable in so very many ways, just not going online.π He does our all our house upkeep..can fix anything to do with our plumbing or car maintenance, mows our huge yard, shovels snow, paints ...etc heck... after he retired he even started doing the laundry! He says he "likes" doing it!π± So yeah... I'm SURE I'm not perfect. (far, far from it) I'm just lucky he can't get in here to write about me.π

I know! And my husband got it in his head today that he needed to cut our grass today...I'm like..give it time to grow! I was actually on a huge organizing/cleaning spree just now. Then he came in from mowing (part of) the lawn. (We have a teeny tiny house with a huge lawn) My husband: "I need a new lawn mower! That one I have is No Good anyhow! Can you look on your internet (lol) and see which Sears stores are open?" Me: (without looking ) "none" (knowing they're closed because covid) Him: "What?! How are People supposed to cut their grass!?" Me: Leaves evenything I'm working on, goes and turns on tablet, and looks up Sears online... "OK..There's one regular store and one outlet store left in Illinois, but you can't go in them, you can only order online, and then do pick-up or delivery." Him: "Well can you look at your thing (my tablet) and see if they have any floor models?!" Me: Looks up lawnmowers at Sears outlet..where they only have a $4,000 riding lawn mower, and a bunch of lawnmower parts listed. Him: "can you check the regular Sears?" Me: shows him everything available..and then repeats the whole dang routine for Menards and Home Depot when he hates the prices at Sears. Him: Never mind..I'll just keep using the one I have. Me: I thought you said it was no good?! Him: .... no...it's just kind of shaky...never mind anyhow (then walks away without a word of thanks.)ππ

Aaaaand he told me today that he doesn't want to watch any more episodes. ::::: sigh :::::: I asked him why, and he said it gave him a "weird dream." He ALWAYS has weird dreams. Stinky old geezer poopy-head party pooper! π€£ (I'll have to go find the forum for it now) I swear, this man has the attention span of a goldfish.

Good thing that's also his man cave, then. π

My husband found this in the garage while organizing today (because he's bored out of his mind because all the resale shops he frequents are closed.) His garage is a treasure trove of "valuable" crap oddities he has collected. He asked me where in the house he could hang it. π I then reminded him that he has a man cave for just this reason. π€£π

I was so squicked out by piercings near the guy's eye I could barely listen to him.π I have a serious aversion to any kind of face piercings, but anything near the eyes are the worst for me.π€’ I'm glad they're not translating the swear words into Spanish faithfully...I don't mind cursing at all, but my husband HATES it. So if someone says SHIT!..and they translate it to the equivalent of DARN IT! it works better for us. PS we've only watched the first episode, and all the people so far are bat shit crazy π±

The last line of this video is...perfection. (I broke down and watched Tiger King today with my husband..in Spanish(!) with English subtitles) I'm determined to spiff up my Spanish skills again while this whole thing goes on. The nightly family chat (which includes my husband's family in Puerto Rico) is really making my brain hurt, because I'm so rusty. "Explaining the Pandemic to my Past Self... or What would happen if I tried to explain what's happening now, to the January 2020 version of myself?" π· π

I have another online friend that I met collecting those (dumb) Beanie Babies. π She lives in Minnesota, but winters in Arizona. She just posted this on Facebook. (I thought "that can't be true, can it?" But it is.)π± https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/goodwill-to-open-21-of-the-valleys-90-stores-by-monday

For anyone in Chicagoland, this is in the Chicago Tribune about my nephew today: https://www.chicagotribune.com/coronavirus/ct-coronavirus-death-airport-worker-20200411-verhl23q65a3zmkz3enbhlv4ji-story.html I found out something from it I didn't know before, Flaco had diabetes. π’ The rest of the article, I knew, and just infuriated me all over again, how they wouldn't let the airport workers wear masks as people poured back into the U.S. from other countries...how he couldn't get tested when he got sick until it was way too late.π (Btw, people around here know "Chicagoland also includes parts of southeast Wisconsin and Northwestern Indiana, along with the city of Chicago and the suburbs) PS..it's behind a paywall..but I think you get a certain number of articles free each month. If someone here is interested in reading it and already used up your free articles, PM me and I'll share my password for my Tribune subscription with you so you can read it.

I have a niece who is a college math professor. I thought I'd share a couple of her Facebook posts for anyone interested in what some teachers are going through rn. (she's a snarky, but very caring person, who wants to make sure her students really learn, btw.)

I think we could all use those day of the week underwear again at this point. They never did include Sunday in the pack though...guess you were supposed to wear your fancy pants that day.π

Yesterday it was in the 70's here. Now it's snowing outπ

I just saw this from NPR today though...are we even going to have access to tests? "Some local officials are disappointed the federal government will end funding for coronavirus testing sites this Friday. In a few places those sites will close as a result. This as criticism continues that not enough testing is available." I thought they were ramping up the testing? Does anyone here know anyone that was able to get tested? Even my relatives weren't, and they had someone in their family die from it! So why would they be closing testing sites!? I don't get it. https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/04/08/829955099/federal-support-for-coronavirus-testing-sites-end-as-peak-nears

I have a group of close online friends I made all over the country when we were all addicted to buying and selling those (stupid) Beanie Babies. π Anyway, that's how I made a very good friend in Alabama ( who I've now actually met a few times in person.) She's the reason I know how rabid they are for college football there. She posted this on her Facebook.π

This is such a petty complaint during this time when there is so much going on for everyone. But this is a TV board...so...here goes....I really wish everyone doing pandemic updates could just do them when they're not during *my* daily TV shows..every.single.dang.time. I'm retired, but I just realized there's certain shows I watch really close to real time. I DVR them to skip the commercials, but then when I go to watch them soon after, they're been pre-empted almost EVERY day. Ugh. As I said..petty, but I'm so tired of it. I'm not talking about REAL breaking news that can't wait to be told, to be clear. Just me?π

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
ChiCricket replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
It was nice...the only thing I thought was weird was the first guest bathroom that didn't have a sink in it (maybe no room?)
