The showrunners talk with The Wrap. Robert Rovner says there aren't any spin-off series in the works but Jessica Queller would like to see one with the young Kara and Alex actresses and/or Cat Grant. I really like the young Kara and Alex actresses but I don't think they could get a full series out of that. I'd rather see a Nia and Brainy spin-off or something like that.

TVline did an interview with Nicola Maines (Nia) about tonight's episode.
The episode takes place in 2009. Wouldn't Alex be out of high school by then?

Teaser Trailer for the remake of West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg. I know Spielberg always wanted to do a musical but I'm not sure a remake of a musical that is still very well known and acclaimed is the best choice. That being said the teaser looks solid.

If it hadn’t been for them turning Sharon Carter — one of Marvel’s best comic heroines—into a villain, I would have loved this ending. I mean, seriously after all the crap Emily VanCamp got from the Stucky stans on the internet and the Russos just cowing to them, the MCU brought her back for this?! This?!? It’s Game of Thrones all over again!!!!!
I hope she is eventually redeemed.
Sam's new Captain America suit is awesome.
Though I enjoyed the episode it did feel a bit rushed. Some of the action scenes had too many cuts. I still think the best action scene was the opening scene of the first episode.

Hawkeye is probably my least favorite Avenger (and Renner probably wasn't the best casting choice) but I don't dislike him. A Disney Plus series might work better for him than a movie.

1. Having Kara separated from everyone else is a bad idea. The show's strength has always been the relationships Kara has with J'onn, Alex and the rest of the cast. Now we're deprived of that. We're also deprived of her doing Supergirl things by virtue of this extended Phantom Zone plot
I think they had to separate Kara from the rest of the cast because
SpoilerMelissa Benoist was not on set for the filming of the 5 episodes after the premiere (which used at least some footage from what would've been last season's the finale) so all the Superfriends scenes had to be filmed without her.
QuoteToo many characters to try to service. Back in the day, it was about Kara/Alex/Jimmy/Winn/J'onn with Cat drivebys. Now it's Kara/Alex/J'onn/Brainy/Dreamer/M'Gann/Kelly with a side of Andrea/William. I'm sorry but I don't care all that much about J'onn/M'Gann's romance, Brainy/Nia or Alex/Kelly.
The cast has gotten too big. I think they should have made Andrea a recurring character and William should have been written out. I would like the final season to center around the characters who have been here multiple seasons, especially Kara, Alex and J'onn.

Something to be happy about: Joint Interview with Melissa and Chyler!
Interesting that Chyler mentions
Spoilerthat she isn't in the episode she is directing. I know she's in Prom Night so I think Prom Again will be the first episode she's missed since season one. I think Melissa might not be in one of those episodes as well. Though I understand why its a little unfortunate both Melissa and Chyler might be absent in an episode of the final season.
It's nice to see the Danvers sisters be part of the promotion of the show. Hopefully we will more of that relationship on the show this season.

Supergirl.TV has photos from episode 6x05 "Prom Night". Looks like Brainy and Nia are posing as high school students and wearing glasses as a disguise.

I think its more of an unpopular opinion to like the Kiera Knightly version of Pride of Prejudice. I recall a lot of fans of the book and mini series disliking the 2005 version when it came out. I actually really like it.

It seemed like he originally planned to stay for 7 seasons. It's disappointing that he's leaving a little earlier. I'll miss Mick.

Canadagraphs posted a blog on the filming of episode 6x12.
Azie Tesfai (Kelly) is wearing her new Guardian outfit.

The showrunners talk to The Wrap about why they didn't include a scene of Alex telling Kelly about Kara being Supergirl. I don't even like Kelly and Alex as a couple but I found that annoying. If you didn't want to include that scene why make a big deal out of the reveal that Kelly didn't know? Why not make it clear that Kelly actually already knew about Kara instead?

I personally get why people want to see queer characters played by real queer actors, but I've never felt it was necessary. We also don't really know if the "straight" actor playing a queer role is really as straight as they are protraying themselves as. I do know that as soon as an actor comes out, they are almost immediately put into a box and almost never get a chance at leading movie roles. You can't tell me that homophobia isn't playing a big role into why Matt Bomer isn't enjoying at least a B-list movie career right now. He seems mostly stuck in tv mini-series and whatever Ryan Murphy might cast him in. His most mainstream movies were a supporting character in Magic Mike and a blink-and-miss-it cameo in the Magnificent 7 remake. It's ridiculous.
Matt Bomer certainly hasn't had a bad career but I do think he should have had a bigger movie career. He's ridiculously handsome and was so charming on White Collar.

I'm over Lex.
Jon Cryer is great but I'm over Lex too.
So Kelly found out about Kara being Supergirl offscreen?

Yeah Alex is now a Super Friend which is not suprising as she has a relationship with everbody else on the board
She always kind of was. She was the first person to go out in the field with Kara and has been fighting alongside the other heroes since they joined the team.

Turning Alex into the Blue Hood (sorry, Sentinel) still seems like a questionable move, but I have to admit it's been so long I can't even remember the in-universe justification for it.
It was because Alex left the DEO and then it was destroyed. Now that the DEO is gone I'm more than okay with Alex being a superhero. She's earned it and she's at her best when she's part of the action.
QuoteAlready wondering how they're going to continue to keep Andrea and William relevant.
I hope they don't bother trying. They are the least important characters on the show.

Melissa Benoist talked to ET Online about the final season.
Entertainment Weekly has an article on Kelly becoming Guardian. Also it sounds like Alex's superhero name might be Sentinel?
Also, there will be a couple of villain's in the second half of the season and Lex will be returning later in the season. I'm not thrilled with Lex returning again.

Entertainment Weekly has a pretty spoilery interview with Melissa Benoist about the final season.
ETA: In this video from entertainment weekly an ew staff writer, who seems to have some insider info, talks about what will be happening this season. They reveal a couple of things I haven't heard before, one of them is that Kelly will become the new Guardian this season.

Apparently Chyler Leigh is appearing in the next Greys Anatomy episode. I'm not sure how they managed that with the two week quarantine requirement in Canada. Maybe they filmed her part in Canada and green screened her in? Entertainment Weekly has an article on it that contains the promo for the episode.

Entertainment Weekly talked to the showrunners about Season 6. I hope Lena and Kara repairing their relationship doesn't take up too much space. I grew tired of that story by the end of last season.

According to Deadline Jason Behr and Claude Knowlton will be joining the cast in re-occurring roles. There is a brief description of their characters. Hopefully they are just 2-3 episode roles because the cast is too big already.

TVLine has the CW summer schedule. Supergirl will return from its hiatus on Tuesday, August 24th. It will have 13 episodes left to air. Its amazing that Supergirl is filming later than any of the Arrowverse shows yet will have aired less than half its season before it finishes filming. The show wraps on August 6.
