  1. Whatever the final result, it's clearly not going to be a FU at all that Trump represents. Which is just sad, sad, sad. I know many Americans don't care what the world thinks of them. America's global reputation was down in the dumps in the Bush era. If Trump is elected, it'll be back down there or worse.
  2. On the BBC they just that said 60% of people who voted for Trump thought he was unqualified to be President. I give up.
  3. I hear you. But her opponent was just about the most unqualified, most offensive, most unfit candidate ever! Should not have been a contest if people knew what was truly good for a country.
  4. NYT site is forecasting >95% of Trump winning. Is that for real?! Even looking at the graphic meter makes me sick. 538 still has each at 49%.
  5. If not a serious, sober, super qualified female candidate like Hillary, then who? If people wanted Michelle Obama, well, she wasn't running and she endorsed Hillary. If they wanted a female celebrity Trump, well, good luck with that. In the real world, political candidates don't get much better than Clinton in terms of being able to do the job and up to the job.
  6. It will be very sad to me if Hillary loses because not enough women came out for her. I'm not saying you have to vote for someone because they are a woman but I've never understood why some women perceive her with actual hatred and find someone like Trump with his track record with women preferable. It's incomprehensible to me. Hillary had plenty of admirable qualities for women (and men) to admire. Why didn't more of them connect with her but rather with a horrible person like Trump?
  7. 80% of evangelical voters in FL voted for Trump apparently. This pastor is going on on BBC about the voice of God. I don't know how these people can in good conscience vote for with Trump's character. What hypocrisy.
  8. Who knows more about MI? I thought that almost always went Dem. But Trump probably played really well with the defunct manufacturing base.
  9. If Hillary wins the popular vote but loses the electoral college....
  10. That NYT site is predicting 87% likelihood of Trump winning. It's in real time and votes are still being counted, is that accurate? I'm hearing analysts are saying it's all going to be down to Michigan.
  11. With 99% counted in FL, does it mean Hillary can't win since Trump is in the lead? I'm watching the BBC coverage and Trump is still leading in all the swing stages. It's depressing.
  12. Except he's also a pathological liar a lot of the time when he "speaks his mind". But obviously a whole lot of people don't realize or seem to care.
  13. I won't forgive the media if Trump wins. $2 trillion worth of free air time, people!
  14. Exactly. I don't see how any person who respects good judgement, competency, temperament could vote for someone like Trump regardless of political party affiliation. It's like the choice between a serious adult and someone who isn't serious and isn't knowledgeable. Shouldn't even be a contest. When I see people interviewed who say they are voting for Trump because 'conservative values', I don't get that as a non American. How does that trump basic character and competence in a political leader? Is the idea of how other people live their lives going to continue to be the ruling ideology for how some vote? Honestly, I don't see how making it all about their so called conservative values makes a country better.
  15. I was afraid that there would be many closet Trump voters. I thought the increase in turnout of Hispanics would come out in favor of Hillary, and were they not enough to offset the working class white vote? I thought demographics meant Dems likely had it in the bag since the beginning.
  16. Because people were angry. Plus all the xenophobic hateful crap. Same thing as Brexit. They didn't care or know if they were voting against their economic interest. They were mad with the establishment and just wanted to stick it to them. I saw an exit poll that said 70% of people were not angry with the federal government. This may be the result of that.
  17. This should never have been a contest. I can't accept that it's this close. I'm sorry, Americans, but I don't think it speaks well of half your fellow countrymen if so many are willing to vote for someone like Trump as President.
  18. I hear ya, Joss. Sorry, but at this stage, I do think some Trump supporters are truly deplorable and impossible.
  19. The fascinating thing to me still is that his supporters just don't seem to care that there are no details. He voices sentiments and slogans that appeal to them, and that's apparently enough. He can have no details and lie endlessly and still get support. I'm seriously concerned that future populist demagogue are going to be learning from his playbook without doing the stupid stuff. I linked to this piece in the Hillary thread, but it's maybe even more relevant here. https://newrepublic.com/article/138502/shame-us-american-media And I do think Trump knows branding and knows selling, and that's why he's been able to get as far as he has, and enough people to buy his BS.
  20. I had no idea he had a brother who got disinherited? What happened to him? As for him being a bad loser, I can well believe that. Wasn't there another write up of how he couldn't even stand it when his first wife was a better skier than him? Juvenile.
  21. Also, can't believe that one of the top 5 searched questions on Hillary is, "Is Hillary Clinton a Republican?". Seriously? I despair for people at times. No wonder some can still be undecided if that's their level of knowledge. Then again, people in the UK for searching for something like "What is Brexit?" or "What is the EU?" or something ridiculous on the eve of the Brexit vote. Sometimes I really think people have gotten dumber in spite of the internet.
