S05.E05: Going Under

Positive - no Duncan. Nick being the only competent cop. Heart to heart at the end between Oliver and Gail. Love them, him in particular.

Negative - Chris.  Hope that wraps up soon because it's something that is falling flat for me because they're not explaining how it led to this. Just one day he picked up drugs while we were off watching Duncan be an ass. Also, how are Andy and Sam still able to work together? It was ridiculous back in season 3 when they were dating, and still silly now. I get the plot device, we're supposed to see how adorable they are together (instead they just show us yet again how incompatible they are) but there are more than 5 cops in this department, she should be teamed up with someone else. I wish I had paid more attention to the actual criminal plot line of their story since it's continuing but I kept zoning out.

If I have to watch Andy and Sam together, I'd much rather it be as friends. When he's not trying to glare and sulk her into bed, Sam's actually tolerable, even occasionally slightly charming. I wish the show would let them acknowledge they're not good as lovers, and move on.

I figured Nick's chatting up Essie with his sweetly lame lines was going to lead somewhere bust-related (and I don't mean his taking her bra off, either ::rimshot::) Because Nick's never not being good police.

Aw! I totally want Frosty and Oliver to be besties, now. She brings out his compassionate side, and he makes her seem almost like a person.

And "Chris picking up drugs while we watched Duncan be an ass" is the whole backstory here. I'll admit I thought the writers worked up some tension over Chris trying to play both sides of busting Jamie, but I seriously doubt this show can pull off a "good cop goes bad" story over the longer term. Rookie Blue ain't The Shield, kids.

Amen. I actually enjoyed Sam and Andy together for the first time since like season 2 in this ep. I really wish they'd just let them be friends.

loved, loved, LOVED the convo between gail and oliver. he's turning into a damn fine captain. i wish we could have seen the conversation between him and his BFF noelle tho when Frank got the boot.

Even when Duncan's not on, he's still a f***-up. Andy was a horrible TO, yes, but he was a worse student.

Is it wrong i love Traci & Steve when i SO LOVED Jerry?

Chris? I can't even. And Nick's arms? <swoon>

First of all it seemed quite a coincidence that Dov and Chris were on patrol together. They had been with others this season but it is nice they are back working together and as buddies. I am way surprised that Dov didn't notice the irregularities in Chris. He shouldn't have needed Chloe telling him about the boxing night incident to get him thinking. Sure Chris had explanations for it all. But especially when Jamie the Dealer came into the bar his looks should have told Dov something was up. Also when Steve Peck came into the lunch room and saw the sugar was gone I thought he had Chris snagged. His line, " Can't trust anyone, even cops", made me laugh and wonder if it got Chris thinking? But maybe it will be evidence that builds to Chris getting in trouble? When Officer Curtis checked the Coke and found it was baking soda, what happened to the sugar?? Did Chris throw it out because it wasn't enough?? As stated above we never really knew why Chris started on Coke or when. Some clues came from Dov that he was still hurting for loosing his "son". But is that enough to get someone on dope? Maybe over drinking but I don't know. But I didn't know that Jamie didn't also know that Chris was a cop. Jamie gave the name Russell Throe or whatever it was. I wonder if it will lead anywhere? He also told Chris that his strong arm guy was Dante" Darkness descends" and he had dental equipment. Wasn't Russell a dentist?? This "no lead" might lead somewhere. Maybe it will be used to clear or help Chris?? I was surprised first that Chris punched out the Frat Boy and second that more wasn't made of it. He was allowed to go on the undercover mission. But then most of today's story wouldn't have happened.

Gail seems to be buying a bunch of stuff to try and get over the "Sophie left behind when her mom Treena was accidentally murdered by Shay Bishop story line", but it probably has some to do with Holly not being who she thought she was also. But last week and this week she didn't tell either Chris or Oliver that they are broke up actually. But it has to be hard to have little Sophie come into the laundry room when you are trying to figure out who Sophie(Treena) actually is and that she does have a family, a little daughter who now is an orphan. Nice to see Chloe fitting in more and helping Gail. But Gail shouldn't be totally separated from Traci and Andy as friends. Even though I know Andy took Nick away from her. But maybe Gail will be closer to Chloe and Marlo(when she returns) from now on? But she should still be close to Chris and Dov, they were at first a roommate team! Nice scarf Gail! And nice antler candle holder for Oliver. Even if he looks like he don't what to use it for.

Traci and Steve were cute listening in and critiquing Nicks "pick up" game. But I to figured since bartender Essie was getting talkative to him that she was in on the gun sales with Angelo Passetti. She did seem nice.

I figured the case of Brian Gowdy would turn into murder. Sam and Andy on that case we see they can be "friends" but a lot of things they are different on. Like when talking about Gowdy getting a new job and condo on a Costa Rica and wondering where to get away to. She wanted beach, Pina Coladas and he wanted up north and bobsled racing. But then said he would take the beach. But he won't give in everything for her. And he shouldn't! I was wondering why Dr. Howard changed his mind when they got to the parking lot that Gowdy's body was found in in his Jag XJ8?? I thought at first maybe someone was pulling a scam, when it was listed the same car in 2 different ads? But then I figured he(killer) was hunting for Gowdy. He must have seen something that he shouldn't have?? Hope they scan the area, they may find another body?

I can see Andy is shaken up by the accusations by Duncan and his lawyer against her and 15. And I know now if she filled in Oliver about all the stuff she left off the reports that his lawyer would just say that she is making it up to get out of the law suit. I still don't totally hate Duncan but it makes it harder to like him. He should just be put on desk duty. But I wonder if his important step father will appear. That has to be why he was mentioned when Duncan started in Andy's training

program. I can see either confrontation coming between the 2 or he will see he made false accusations because he was hurt. Maybe both before it is though.

I'm surprised Inspector John Jarvis is still MIA?? I would have thought he would be all over this. Unless he is buddies with the step father?

1 name on the IMDB and tv.com lists is Brandon Phillips? I did not recognize it, but he will be on the next episode too. Is he Duncan's lawyer?

And yes Steve is growing on me even though I thought it too soon and I loved Jerry.
