John Potts April 12, 2017 Share April 12, 2017 Quote Captain Sisko heads back to Earth to discuss security in the light of the Dominion threat: he is disappointed with Starfleet's security arrangements for finding Changelings and when one turns upon Earth and then the world power grid shuts down, security is stepped up worldwide. O boy, does this episode feel contemporary. "We need to deploy spy satellites/search bags/read you E-mails for your protection. No, WE'RE not Big Brother intruding into your lives - and if you've got nothing to hide, you won't mind us looking, will you?" I did like that while ultimately (I think?) we're meant to see Ben Sisko's attitude is wrong, he really DOES have a point. "We're not looking to destroy paradise, we're looking to save it" - I'm sure Ben is, but not everyone who says that means it. But as a bleeding heart liberal, I tend to agree with Joseph Sisko - Ben may have signed up with Starfleet, so they can test their officers as a condition of employment, but Granpa Joseph isn't in Starfleet, so the government has no right to test HIM). Did like the way the episode gently suggests Joseph might BE a Changeling (not eating, avoiding his doctor), making Ben's suspicions that much more reasonable. Also, slightly surprised that they have a character saying the line, "the only time you should be in bed is if you're sleeping, dying, or making love to a beautiful woman...", particularly when that character is (by his own admission) too old to be making love to anyone and talking to his grandson! 1 Link to comment
iMonrey May 23, 2017 Share May 23, 2017 Benjamin has a sister named Judith? Why didn't we ever get to meet her? They thought enough of the father to have him back at least a couple of times. I think the dynamic between Sisko and his sister might have been interesting. Link to comment

Sisko's father said that, he said he was getting too old for the beautiful women. That got my attention because I'm getting up there in years. It was probably the one thing that stood out most in the episode, to hear someone say that, when things like that have been on my mind lately. There are other old sayings like "I still want to chase women, I just can't remember why". Link to comment

Or the woman who said it didn't bother her that her husband kept chasing after younger women because she said it was like a dog chasing after cars -- he wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do with one if he ever caught it! 1 Link to comment
