The timeline question should help narrow things down for you guys!

Episode:

1) Doesn't take place during the winter

2) There's not a town event going on in this episode

3) I wouldn't say there's an important 'first' this episode, though there is a minor first...it's a great question, and I'm sorry my answer did nothing to clear things up :)

4) I wouldn't say this episode is heavily focused on just one particular character

I don't really know what to ask that won't be a sort of timeline question. :

Questions about who does and doesn't appear are always great for narrowing down episodes, so your question about the elder Gilmores was a great one! People also ask stuff about whether there's a Friday Night Dinner shown in an episode, whether anyone goes on a date in that episode, whether we see Rory in a classroom that episode, whether there are five or more words in the episode title, whether the episode title includes anyone's name, whether we see an argument between main characters in that episode...etc :) I hope this helps!

Ha---you guys both got it at almost the exact same moment! Yes, it's TFTA, one of my favorites. Lulu, Elang seems to have gotten it just a second before you did :)

The minor 'first' was that this was Rory's first post-Jess date and arguably first date while not already in a relationship since, as Lorelai pointed out, she'd always immediately been in relationships with people (Dean, Jess) rather than casually dating people she didn't yet know. The scene with Laundry Room Guy also marks one of the first and only times that a guy Rory shows any remote interest in is (*gasp*) not interested in dating her :)

One interesting thing about hosting an episode round: No matter how well you think you know an episode (and I have seen Fundamental many, many, MANY times and thought I knew pretty much every second by heart!), you almost always have to look up certain answers to people's questions. In this case, I had to make sure Richard didn't pop up in this one.
