radishcake October 2, 2016 Share October 2, 2016 Quote Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman return as your hosts for an unforgettable evening of Strictly drama, in the first results show of the series. The judges' scores and public votes are in and the two couples with the lowest score dance off against each other, and one of them will chasse out of the competition for good. Plus our professional dancers will be treating us to a spectacular routine accompanying the legendary Barry Gibb. Link to comment
Occasional Hope October 2, 2016 Share October 2, 2016 I was a little surprised to see Anastacia in the bottom two so early on. I guess her fanbase is not that big, or at least people who buy her music aren't necessarily invested in her as a person. Melvin was the right boot imo. He just wasn't very good, or entertaining. legaleagle53 October 2, 2016 Share October 2, 2016 I haven't watched any of the performances or the results yet (what with living in the wrong country and all), but James Jordan did quite the rant on Twitter about the injury canceling the dance-off. He said that this would give celebs an excuse to fake an injury so they could get out of having to do the dance-off and avoid elimination that way. Also, James is apparently considered "the Brad Pitt of dance" by his fans. I told him that that was fine, as long as he doesn't make Ola Angelina Jolie! 1 Link to comment
Occasional Hope October 2, 2016 Share October 2, 2016 (edited) Well, I can see his point, but OTOH it would be wrong to make someone dance when injured if a doctor says it will cause further injury [which I assume was the case? - the injury was mentioned earlier as taking place in training], and also open up the BBC to a lawsuit. Anyone who relied on that as a way to get through automatically is gambling on not being the bottom vote getter. Anastacia did look, um, surprised and annoyed to be in the B2 though. The Brad Pitt of dance? Good looking but with limited talent? OK, James, if you like. Edited October 2, 2016 by Occasional Hope Link to comment

Also, if Natalie getting a bye week for illness or injury (I forget the exact story there) didn't start a trend, I don't think this will either. Did they ever say what Anastasia's injury was? I keep hearing injury but nothing more specific. 6 hours ago, legaleagle53 said: I haven't watched any of the performances or the results yet (what with living in the wrong country and all), but James Jordan did quite the rant on Twitter about the injury canceling the dance-off. James called himself the Brad Pitt of dance on Celebrity Big Brother. It's less a fan given name and more something he anointed himself and was mocked for it. I assume a good portion of those using that name for him are doing so as a joke. Back to the dance off issue, I'm torn. If you're too injured to perform leaving might be best. There's no guarantee you'll be able to perform next week let alone train the next day. It's also kind of unfair to Melvin that he wasn't given the opportunity to save himself. I personally like Anastasia a lot and dislike Janette as a pro, so I can't say I am too disappointed in the result. 2 Link to comment

SirOsisOfLiver October 3, 2016 Share October 3, 2016 It's hard to imagine that her injury would just cure itself overnight. Doesn't she face another week of rehearsing? How can she practice? I thought Melvin was awful but he didn't deserve to be punted that way. Anastasia should have taken the high road and withdrawn. The show looks bad because of it. It'll look even worse if she can't compete next week. Dumb decision by everyone, in my opinion. Link to comment
