Actionmage October 8, 2016 Share October 8, 2016 John Ross Bowie is a stealth MVP, in my opinion. He balance's Maya/ Minnie's outsize energy with enough laidback to be a Lebowski. Jimmy keeps tabs on his other kids, knowing that May's laser-focused on JJ. He knows when to roll with Maya and when to point out when she's going overboard. The talk about what other people think with Ray was a great quiet moment in the latest episode (B-O-N-Bonfire). I hope he gets much more attention with Jimmy and the show! 4 Link to comment
neuromom October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 That talk with Ray was probably the best part of the episode for me. It's amazing how OTT "typical sitcom" this can be, while also containing very "real" moments for me. Link to comment
Funfoody November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 Kripke was on Big Bang Theory this week being offensive about a motorized Stephen Hawkings doll. It was a real contrast to the actor's work here. 1 Link to comment

Indy November 21, 2016 Share November 21, 2016 I've always enjoyed JRB in Big Bang, Kripke amuses me, but I really love him as Jimmy. They're starting to flesh out his character really nicely and I love how he interacts with each of his kids. Though it was fun to see Kripke back on Big Bang last week; I'm glad he's finding room in his schedule to continue that character on occasion. 2 Link to comment

Kripke's speech impediment wouldn't be considered a lisp-- unless I'm forgetting him having a lisp in addition to his trouble with r sounds. I don't watch the Big Bang Theory anymore, but I really hated Kripke's character. Good for the actor that he can fill his schedule and all, but if his work on Speechless were to prevent him from returning to that role as often as they may like, I'd be happy. Link to comment

I should have said speech impediment instead of lisp. Link to comment
GRChereck February 8, 2017 Share February 8, 2017 Hello! Thought I'd start posting here since IMDb is shutting their whole message-board system down; the boards for this show and the FOX comedy 'Last Man on Earth' were two of the few I still enjoyed posting at... Anyway, I primarily started watching for Minnie (whom I've liked since 'Circle of Friends' and 'Big Night') and I was a little curious about how John (whom I had liked on BBT, though I didn't get into it until a few years ago) would fare as a first-time sitcom dad, but I immediately fell in love with the kids and Kenneth; still, by the "bulletproof" speech in "Bonfire," Jimmy became my hands-down favorite character. :) (Maya is my least favorite by default, but still I like her a lot.) I'm super-psyched for tonight's "Valentine's Day" episode -- I think Minnie and John make for such a cute pair anyway, and I'd been hoping to see some backstory on Jimmy and Maya's relationship at least since "Halloween" (my favorite episode so far).
