I was annoyed by the fight club scenes in the preview, but then I got shirtless, bloody Craig Parker fighting a "gladiator" and I'm happy.

Finally all in for Elizabeth.  This was definitely her best ep, for me.  I felt bad for all the women involved in the Anne B story.

Castleroy!!  That was adorable. But they better end up in Scotland next season.

I'm not even sure what to think about Bash's reemerged feelings.  Knowing this show it could be a moot point by minute 12 next week.

The poisoning of the generals was chilling.  Eeek, I really am curious about how they get out of this!

I did find it adorable that Catherine thought Mary sent her some fabulous wardrobe item.  She seemed so excited!

We had to lose Greer?!!! Aylee was canon fodder from the jump and if I understand correctly, the actress playing Kenna was a bit of a troublemaker (hence them never saying her name once since she left, not even Bash!), but why lose Greer? She was by far my favorite. And it makes no sense to stay in France for her and Castleroy; for one thing, Mary bringing an openly Protestant Lady and her family with her to the now mostly Protestant Scotland would be a brilliant political move, and for another there's so much less chance of persecution. Not to mention the fact that they didn't exactly have the interwebs there; even if Greer appeared with a whiff of scandal, I sincerely doubt that anything she did in France would make a huge impact in Scotland, especially considering her circumstances.

Which leads me to how pissed I am about how OOC Castleroy was about Greer. We got no reason farther than "we're different now" for him not getting back together with her, and that is so insanely unlike him. He knows that everything Greer has been through has been an extension of his own mistakes. The whole thing felt like a set-up just to have Bash retread his feelings for Mary and for shit's sake, that didn't work when Francis was alive and it won't work now. It doesn't even make sense. He genuinely loved Kenna and Delphine.

In the end I'd rather lose both Leith and Claude than Greer. Leith has only ever been interesting to me in relation to Greer, and his happy love with Claude is obnoxious when you compare the two women.

But in other news, I did enjoy Elizabeth and Lola's stories -- and Liz's gown was stunning, incidentally. Also in future, if you want to plant jewelry for shit's sake Elizabeth, don't use pearls! Anne Boleyn's story has been explored so many times in the end I didn't really care how it would turn out, but it was moving to see how much all the revelations affected Elizabeth.

I was impressed with Lola's quick thinking and glad that she's gotten John back, but I'd be more impressed if Elizabeth had seen fit to allow some of her family free the way she'd promised. I wonder what Lola's mother thought when English troops just showed up to get the baby.

I'm not a huge fan of Narcisse but I always love this show's absurdity, so I was all in for Wolverine Fight Club. I was impressed that Charles did so well in the casinos to begin with and was sorry he couldn't get the whole sum though. I really wanted him to check the dice. That bug-eyed proprietress looked so skeevy throughout that I feel like it's almost positive she rigged the game.

If I was Catherine the first thing I would be doing after finding all those poisoned generals is screaming my head off for every guard and demanding a castle lockdown followed by a search. It needs to be clear how very distressed she is because she has to do any and everything to distance herself from the poisoning. Including torturing the kitchen staff. In the end I don't quite see how she can be blamed for this other than the method looking like hers -- even with the generals dead, the soldiers are still getting paid. She has no reason at all to kill them. I wonder what the secret whatever society is going to say her reasoning was to kill a bunch of guys this time around?

Lola's baby has a different name than my friend's baby.

So Greer has left to have the baby and is gone. Bash is going to be written out by going to Scotland? Who will be left on the show for the next season.

I thought the scene where Elizabeth dreamed of seeing Anne's execution was interesting, I've never seen them do that elsewhere, but I just wish I like Rachel Skarsten's performance more. Her voice when doing the accent is so nasally , it's a little hard on my ears. I do like her at times but she's really hit and miss imo.
