Bruinsfan November 13, 2015 Share November 13, 2015 I'm pretty sure that women were able to own property and inherit money in Victorian England even if there wasn't much in the way of employment opportunities. Link to comment
Rick Kitchen November 13, 2015 Share November 13, 2015 This was the tail end of the Victorian era, it was really early 1900s. There were even more opportunities for women. Although many more job openings for lower and middle class women. Link to comment
Rina99 April 16, 2016 Share April 16, 2016 I finally watched this on Blu-ray, and really enjoyed it. Of course, everything was beautiful shot, and I loved all of the costumes. I really understood why Edith would have been so taken with Thomas, and I'm glad that it didn't end with her getting together with the doctor. Maybe they did after, who knows, but I liked that she ultimately ended up saving them both. All of the actors really elevated a rather predictable plot. Link to comment
VCRTracking May 31, 2016 Share May 31, 2016 (edited) I just watched it yesterday and also liked it. Mia Wasikowska made a nice heroine, old fashioned but modern at the same time and Jessica Chastain was just awesome. The costumes, production design and cinematography of course, were gorgeous. Love that late Victorian/turn-of-the century era. I was wondering what happened to the dog at the end. I didn't catch that Lucille killed the dog the first time when Thomas stabbed Alan.
