The pilot got great ratings, 4.9 in the key 18 to 49 demo. Excellent start for the series. Even if it sinks a little bit, it is strong enough to recover as the season progresses.

It doesn't surprise me that they had big ratings becaus it's a Sunday in the summer. They competed against the second hour of Bachleor in Paradise and that's it.

I'd be interested to see how next week goes. Though a lot of people I talked to enjoyed it and people like myself, who didn't, may still watch because it's summer and eh.

Hmmm...FTWD gets a 3.6, 7.19 million viewers for the episode The Dog. That's still pretty amazing, considering the others show numbers. AND Sunday Night Football was on - Cowboys and Giants, so duh, but The Walking Dead has the same competition so...

 

And I'll be honest - I still haven't watched the episode (for canine reasons), and also, I'm kinda meh on it right now. Maybe later this week.

Good to see a thread like this - after all the commentary on the individual episodes, I wondered about the viewing trends of the show.

 

I tend to catch up by watching a few episodes in bulk and on demand, rather than weekly.

Live viewing is dropping, but the +3 and +7 numbers are steady, so I think AMC is happy with these results.

 

FTWD has to compete with Sunday Night Football, and this past Sunday also had the CSI series finale and Quantico premiering all at the same time, along with NFL.

The "Fear the Walking Dead" season finale on AMC was far and away the top show on cable Sunday night -- and its 3.4 rating in adults 18-49 also beat everything but the NFL on broadcast. [Total Live + SD viewers: 6.861 million]
