She was over 5 minutes late (I was early, so at least it wasn't my fault this time). I don't think I got it, because I got the whole "we're interviewing other candidates, we'll be in touch" spiel. Well, harsh lesson learned: I'm going to practice and rehearse my interview skills so that I have a better chance next time. I can't keep having blind faith in myself. I want to leave my current job in the worst way. That's not necessarily your fault! First, bad manners of today's work culture. Second, that interviewer obviously didn't think the interview itself was all that important if he or she was late for it. They owe you that much when a time and date are set. Third, they may not have intended to hire anyone anyway regardless of how the interview went. Lots of places put out ads for jobs and go as far as set up interviews or testing dates but ultimately don't hire anyone - they're just going with the motions (government jobs are infamous for this because they have to by law put out feelers for potential applicants but can't hire anyone due to budget concerns or no legit openings.) . Have courage. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/29305-a-case-of-the-mondays-vent-your-work-spleen-here/page/108/#findComment-8603169
Cloud9Shopper March 21 Share March 21 I feel like I’m struggling to get used to this promotion. I know that there is a payoff of good work experience and that with better pay comes more responsibility, and that it takes time to adjust to any new role. But I’m having a hard time with two key things: -My supervisor is a bit more hands-on than some of my old bosses. I’m used to my bosses mostly leaving me alone and letting me work once they give me projects and then being available for assistance if needed, but if I make a mistake in this job, she or someone else on the team notices it almost immediately and messages me about it. I feel as if I’m always being watched and scrutinized, which is hard for me. Maybe this will go away in time as I’m in the longer but I’m not used to being under the microscope constantly. -This is an “everything needs to get done” type of position. For example, if I have multiple tasks with similar deadlines, I’m just expected to get it all done no matter what because all of it is equally important. Whereas in old roles, maybe Project X was a higher priority for now and I had flexibility to work on Project Y in two days from now. In this role, I may have to keep up with deadlines A and B but also work on C and D which also have to get done and if anything slips, I hear about it. I was hoping to do this job for 2-3 years, and maybe I still will. I’m not looking to job hunt or anything but I also don’t know how to feel less overwhelmed about my team and supervisor watching me like a hawk, as it’s possible I’m being unreasonable about the whole thing. And no, I’m not going to mention any of this at work, as I know it wouldn’t be professional. My plan is to just keep a positive attitude and try to keep working on time management to get used to the pace of the job. I just wanted to vent. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/29305-a-case-of-the-mondays-vent-your-work-spleen-here/page/108/#findComment-8612848
Yeah No March 21 Share March 21 On 3/4/2025 at 6:34 PM, Is Everyone Gone said: So yesterday I had a double root canal. Today I stayed home bc I woke up from extreme pain. I just KNOW on Friday our big boss will call me out anonymously in our staff meeting saying "staying home bc of a root canal is not acceptable." Ugh. She sucks. I got that kind of crap from a boss 30 years ago after I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed and had complications like a numb jaw and intense pain. Another boss from hell, but thankfully she didn't last long. I complained to HR about her and that was back in the day when HR actually had your back. They told me to hang on and ignore her because she was moving on to another office soon. It didn't happen soon ENOUGH. She was that toxic. I hope you can get away from your nightmare boss too. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/29305-a-case-of-the-mondays-vent-your-work-spleen-here/page/108/#findComment-8613086
