ElectricBoogaloo May 4, 2015 Share May 4, 2015 Tony visits one of his favorite cities in Europe, Glasgow. He makes his first stop at the Old College Bar for a pint, learns knife defense techniques from instructor Mark Davies, and tests his physical endurance while stalking red stag with writer A.A. Gill in the Scottish Highlands. Along the way he indulges in some surprising Scottish fare including deep-fried haggis, roasted grouse with bread sauce, and fresh venison. Link to comment

Athena May 29, 2015 Share May 29, 2015 I really enjoyed this episode because I love Scotland. Sadly, I have not been to Glasgow, but I have been to the Highlands. I think Tony captured it well when he said it's this landscape that doesn't feel like it's changed in even millions of years. When he went to the hunting retreat, the episode got even better. I find the whole idea of venison hunting interesting. It's very controlled in Scotland. I am surprised about him saying Gil is one of the best essayist around. I thought Bourdain's admiration of Gil was interesting to say the least. Now, where's my dram of whisky? 1 Link to comment
NowVoyager June 22, 2015 Share June 22, 2015 I always appreciate Tony's willingness to hunt for his food---something I could never do beyond fishing. I had the feeling when those blokes made him smear blood on his face that maybe they just invented a "tradition" to bust his chops. Those were some tough dudes, I tell ya. Link to comment
