It's Dough-Fest in the MasterChef garden and time for the contestants to test their team work in an epic service challenge. The teams have four hours to cook a dough-based savoury and sweet.

Air Date: Jun 11, 2025

Yes, saw those two all cosy up on the gantry again, @Snazzy Daisy. The cameraman are trying to tell us something!

I'm annoyed at tonight's result because it reminds me of the innate unfairness of some MC AU challenges.  If the point of round 2 was to cook something that you could slice open and display a cross-section, then Andre absolutely failed the brief, serving up a bowl of sloppy stuff of which even the top bit didn't slice.  Darrsh DID follow the brief, but the taste of the choux brought him undone.  Andre's bowl of sloppy stuff apparently tasted good.  So is the brief important or isn't it?  I'm prepared to admit that it's likely Darrsh's choux dessert didn't taste great if it was burnt but Andre shouldn't get to make his own rules, either.  (And just quietly, they had a good opportunity to send home a really annoying contestant and they didn't use it!)

Ben has finally "dutched the pun" as the Kiwis say.  I'm hoping it might help get his mojo back because I think he's been finding it quite burdensome.

S17•E24 — Andy Cooks’ Cheese Pull & Satisfying Slice Elimination

Sofia apparently hasn’t heard of “Viennetta” aka sliced ice cream. 🙄

How do you not get the “slice” brief after watching Andy Cooks' demo? Duh. I do think “slice” is one of the weakest brief though.

Andre failed to meet the brief — zero slicing. He should be going home. Moving forward, we will be seeing Andre cooking whatever he wants because brief be damned. 🙄

Darrsh’s dish wasn't tasty, but it was sliceable, hence the brief. He should’ve baked a layered cake etc. Anyway, good luck with the cookie business, Darrshy!

If Ben came out with a better (achievable) concept of a dish, he could still keep his pin. There were others who were worse than him. After wasting those expensive eggs, he decided to play his bloody pin. I thought he was smarter than that. A bit disappointed in him, but the burden has now been lifted. 😔

Well, the edit gibbons did their usual bang-up job of giving the most air-time to their favourite child Laura 🙄🙄🙄. I guess we'll just have to assume that the Beau vs Jamie, Ben vs Audra, Snez vs Alana and even Andre vs Samira battles were incredibly boring and lacking in suspense because the eight of them got about five minutes of airtime BETWEEN THEM while she got about 15 minutes to herself. 😡 Except they probably really weren't, were they? I would love to know more about why the judges thought Ben couldn't possibly make a savoury dish as good as Audra's. Guess we'll never know.

I was astonished that Mr Lee Kum Kee DIDN'T beat Callum and even more shocked that Depinder beat the favourite child.

S17•E25 — Lee Kum Kee Mystery Box

Despite the blatant product placement, I love this episode. I also love the Lee Kum Kee soy sauce. 😆

The editing, though, continues to suck. I expect all 14 contestants will have equal airtime due to the nature of this challenge, but only some of them are allowed to shine.

♦️Depinder/Laura x Chili Oil — Laura, chili in dessert is not unique and Depinder is NOT copying you. FFS. STFU big mouth! Laura’s inner bitch is on display, she’s still commenting even when she loses the battle. 😒

♦️Ben/Audra x Hoisin — Ben spying on Audra then psyching her out is funny. The blackberry/chocolate/Hoisin caramel is a unique flavor combo. There’s nothing inventive about Audra’s dish, but flavor wins.

♦️Theo/Sarah x Sesame Oil — Theo’s strategy to go on the sweet route has paid off. It’s no surprise he wins because Sarah’s dish looks very unappetizing.

♦️Beau/Jamie x XO Sauce — the pair who “shall not be seen”. They’re ignored. Beau’s noodle dish looks yummy. Will Beau be featured prominently in tomorrow’s challenge?

♦️Samira/Andre x Oyster Sauce — a boring pair who gets more screen time than Beau/Jamie.

♦️Alana/Snez x Chili Bean Sauce — another boring pair. It’s not a surprise that Snez struggles with Asian condiments.

♦️Declan/Callum x Soy Sauce — I seriously think that Declan is going to win this challenge since he’s the Lee Kum Kee mascot. There’s nothing inventive about both dishes. Callum’s flavors win, as usual. 🙄

My favorite moment is when Jamie asks Ben to join him in the loser section and Ben asks him to wait for another 30 seconds. It’s hilarious!

🤣🤣🤣

The 🍑🍑 are back!

I was just coming here to say that! Does Poh get extra points for also getting the 🦵🦵out as well?

@Snazzy Daisy, I sense you're not such a fan of Callum's and I'm interested to know why? But I have liked him since his first season when he was just a baby so it was good to see him do well tonight. And love him or hate him, it's hard to fault the guy's work ethic. 12 elements might have seemed excessive but what pressure test dessert doesn't have a bunch of elements? Great to see Depinder excelling too, not to mention seeing Andre unable to even get his ice-cream right. 😂 I am actually quite disappointed he didn't attempt cookies and cream ravioli.

And Laura does have waaaay too much to say from the gantry. "We're expecting big things from you!" Is that the judging audition? 🙄  I also amused myself watching Sarah's almost visceral horror at having to pretend to want to eat carbs in ice-cream form!

S17•E26 — Ice Cream Creations Pressure Test for Double-Immunity

Connoisseur ice cream — another shameless product placement.

Seeing the judges sneakily and cheekily eating ice cream from various tubs is very annoying. What’s the point of that?

Why can’t the edit focus on the 7 contestants who are participating in this challenge? Gantry Laura has more airtime than Beau, who’s cooking down there. FFS. 😒

Andre is making Zeppole again! Theo is playing it safe. Audra is overthinking everything, again. Alana’s dessert is the only one that I’d eat. Beau has an interesting flavor combo, but his plating is just sloppy.

Congrats Callum and Depinder for winning immunity. Truly deserving.

Depinder has kept her promise to Laura — whoever won yesterday must win today. 👍🏻

I may not be his biggest fan, but I don’t have a problem with Callum. He’s OK. I admire his strengths — balancing flavors and all elements in his dish are always cohesive.

Am I rooting for him to win this season? Nope. He already won MasterChef Australia All-Stars, charity or not. But if he wins, I am fine with it. As long as it’s NOT Lowra! 😆

Well, that was an interesting episode of The Laura Sharrad Show..I mean, MasterChef Australia. 🙄 We had to have a huge last minute fake drama about whether or not our heroine would be able to save the praline (and was there ever any doubt considering she is a freaking professional chef). Yet again, she got more air time than anyone. Yawn.

I wanted to slap Andre around SO badly with that bloody gnocchi idea. It seemed such a stupid choice of dish in a time-based challenge, but of course he wasn't going to be talked out of it. Just as well it worked.

Speaking of dumb ideas... did the yellow team consider how long it would take Audra to make those noodles? What a waste of time!

Shame Ben's dessert idea was a bust because yet again, he is in an elimination!

S17•E27 — Dough-Fest Immunity Challenge

All the competing guys are wearing shorts today. 🤔

Poor Sarah is living her worst nightmare — carbs!!!

Callum and Depinder get 2 nights-off.

The trip to COLES is pointless, with Theo pointlessly asking for help from a random staff member who has a perfectly scripted answer. 🤣

♦️ORANGE (Theo, Beau, Andre) — Beau is a guy who works more, talks less. The only thing I remember him saying is “toot-toot”. 😆 Andre is multitasking like an octopus, cooking that 15kg of gnocchi in 5 pans. Poh is being extra annoying today. I am glad that Theo and Andre ignore her concerns and stick with their guts. The Orange team should’ve won this challenge.

♦️YELLOW (Jamie, Audra, Snez) — Jamie is one of those helicopter bosses. Ugh. The ladies’ hair in this team is wild. People will find hair strands in their noodles. OMG, I hate the sounds that Audra makes when she stresses out. They make a huge mistake by focusing more on the noodles than the sauce.

♦️PINK (Ben, Samira, Alana) — They get along so well; no drama, no chaos, it’s almost boring. 😆

♦️TURQUOISE (Declan, Sarah, Laura) — Of course, Lowra and her team win. 🙄 The hazelnut praline’s drama and the judges’ excitement at their dishes are exaggerated. The taste and texture of the “fixed” praline couldn’t be perfect, but the judges say nothing about it. Emelia’s choux bun recipe has helped Declan win his immunity twice this season.

Declan seems to be stopping himself (several times) from kissing Sarah on her forehead when they’re jumping and hugging at the end. Awww, lovebirds! 💕

I cringed for that staff member. So awkward!

Yes, and he came so close to forgetting one time!

Edited to add: Sofia's outfit for the dough challenge was SO fugly.  She was either channelling a WWII female army recruitment poster or about to go out and do a grease and oil change on her car.  Denim dresses... YUCK!

OMG, will Laura's be able to avert praline disaster?! ~I'm so nervous and on the edge of my seat!!! 🙄 All that, and they only made $4,000 for charity! Couldn't the show bump it up to $5K at least!

PS. I don't care how much my cheese stretches when I eat something cheesy. I mean, at some point, it just gets annoying, cuz I really want to take a bite and the cheese is still stretching!! 😁🤷🏻‍♀️
