Does this show expect to win an Emmy for the close up of the woman who was vomiting?  That is crazy not to take her out of the show when the doctor recommended it, and her pulse was down to 35 beats per minute.  Isn't that a dangerously low pulse?

I agree that the events at HQ are boring, but that seems to be mainly what this show is about.  The survivors just lie around alone all day to conserve energy and aren't worth watching, except when they are given a task.

That was unbelievable that the one guy tossed his entire steak into the lake because he couldn't start a fire.

The bears walking by was some fake drama that didn't amount to anything.

The friend is a nurse. If the doctor is telling you that it doesn’t look good , then pull her out.  On that other competitive reality show, whenever the doc appears you know the player will be pulled.

anyone have any spoilers they hide and post?

Yeah, on Alone, if the doctor isn't comfortable, they pull the contestant.  Would this show really allow a participant to die just because the family is too greedy to pull her?

I'm still surprised we haven't seen a bad run in with an animal on one of these shows.

Wonder how many items the nurse crotched?  What did the others do—word search, crosswords?

Thinking about the breakdown of the winnings.  No more couples.  If  I were the one out in the wild - the rain, cold, no food, I would think that person would get 200k and the other two split 50 k.  I think 25 k even before taxes is a nice payday for basically do nothing but deciding supplies.

It looked like some of them were coloring.

How many days are the contestants out there in the wilderness?  That prize does seem quite skimpy after taxes and splitting it 3 ways considering all the suffering that one of them goes through.

Online search said 3 weeks.

sorry I would have already had the papers drawn up on how to split the winnings ( if it were me)

I'm thinking that maybe we weren't shown all of the conversation last week between the medic and Haley's family.  A red herring, perhaps?  She seemed to have a lot more energy left than we were perhaps led to believe.  But it came down mostly knowing each other so well, and a little luck on what the five letter word was.

Meanwhile, Jake seemed to be a little more gassed than we might have expected.  Anyway, I was happy with the outcome.

So, it really came down to the five letter word.

Not a fan of the HG drama, would really liked to have seen more proactive attempts on the part of the 'survivors' to actually survive.  Lots of dead time in the episodes as we have to watch the flashing lights and announcements, decisions by the families, etc.

Will not watch a second season (they did a casting call at the end of the episode) but will check in a couple more times to read everyone's comments.

This was the first episode that was interesting enough for me to watch the whole thing without fast forwarding. I am glad Haley won, since she had a good attitude, but it did not seem like a good way to determine a winner.

The code word was not allowed to be a contestant's name, but it was OK to use the nickname everyone calls Haley?  What if Jake's nickname was Jacob, would that have been allowed?  That was hilarious when the one guy whose code word was Trust, started spelling out his guess:  T...R...U... and it looked like he was going to get it.

Could Jake have just followed Haley instead of bothering to solve the Morse Code message?  What if Jake was a ham radio operator and already knew the code?  That would have been about as fair as having most of the challenge be paddling a raft with one of the contestants being a professional rafter.

Funny how they kept trying to make the prize sound better by calling it "a quarter of a million dollars" instead of $250,000, which is a lot closer to zero than it is to a million.  They should try that on other shows:  "A twentieth of a million dollars"

The code thing wasn't what I was expecting, but Jake and Woody had as good a chance as Haley at guessing it first. Woody *did* guess Laura, and Jake didn't guess his own kid's name first? Meagan is the one I felt bad for; her team let her down there.

I was wondering what would happen if the second-place survivalist just followed the first one, too.

I won't be back next season. Not enough survival, too much whining at HQ.

I thought that was a little odd too, but apparently it was okay.  I agree not the best way to determine the winner, but Jake winning would have been boring, so I'm not complaining.

I wondered about that also.  I'm assuming they had to complete that stage before moving on to the next part.  Wouldn't really be fair otherwise.  Then it would have just come down to a footrace between Jake and Haley.  Besides which, maybe for all they knew, each contestant had a different goal, a different crate they had to go to.

I don't know, I might watch the next season.  I don't seem to be as disgusted with the show as most here.  Maybe it's because I just watched the last four episodes, and I'm not as sick of it as everyone else.  There are other purer survival shows to watch if that's what you want.  I think this has an interesting twist to it, but it wasn't really executed that well.
