tessaray February 18 Author Share February 18 (edited) The Monday episode was pretty interesting. I was especially impressed by the sets. They said there are 27 of them and the ones they showed put all 4 current soaps to shame. Oh, the diner set was my favorite. The little jukeboxes on the tables sent me straight back to junior high. They promised lots of 70s R&B but some Motown wouldn't hurt my feelings. 🤞 Edited February 18 by tessaray 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151878-beyond-the-gates-welcome-to-the-neighborhood-et-special/#findComment-8584302
tessaray February 19 Author Share February 19 (edited) Tuesday was focused on the cast. Thanks to previous trailers and tons of interviews, it didn't seem like there was as much new. Though Cady McClain's clip was new, to me anyway. She seemed much more likeable than most of her onscreen characters. 20 contract and 20 recurring roles. It's going to take awhile to keep them all straight. ByaNose February 19 Share February 19 They seem to have a very talented and experienced cast. Two of the young actresses interviewed said they never acted before and this was their first job. I’ll be curious to see how they fare but it’s hardly anything new for daytime. Kelly Ripa, Laura Wright and Robin Wright had never acted before joining AMC, Loving and Santa Barbara. They turned out fine and became quite popular. They have 20 contract and 20 non contract currently. It will be interesting to see who gets major screen time and who doesn’t. I guess they have to see what the fan reaction is like to the characters on the screen. The production values are pretty incredible for the state of what daytime is currently in. It appears big money is being put into this. Of course, it all comes down to the writing. If ain’t on the page it ain’t on the stage. Next week should be fun. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151878-beyond-the-gates-welcome-to-the-neighborhood-et-special/#findComment-8585082
AnimeMania February 19 Share February 19 I don't really watch soap operas (or haven't for a very long time), is it normal for no one to have "small" children. I would imagine the labor laws would be horrendous. I guess they could fake it by filming for an entire day just a nanny playing with some children in a play room, showing them enter and leave out the front door, and some running around outside, while having them constantly changing their clothes and putting on and taking off coats and maybe shoes. The nanny and kids clothing wouldn't have to be nearly as elaborate as the adult main cast's. Every once in a while have then run up to their parent or shown eating with them on occasion or parents checking that they did their homework. I would imagine the labor laws would be horrendous. The main characters are Vernon and Anita and their adult mid 40s-ish daughters. The grandkids are young adults, late teens - early twenties. I'm kind of at that same stage too. (I miss cartoons, stuffed animals and Legos.) So it doesn't seem weird to me. The other soaps have at least a few kids under 10. GH probably has the most (8?), with another on the way. We don't see them much. Holidays and plot points. I'm sure an unexpected pregnancy will be in the cards for BTG before long. 🙂 Edited February 19 by tessaray 4 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151878-beyond-the-gates-welcome-to-the-neighborhood-et-special/#findComment-8585621
tessaray February 20 Author Share February 20 Wednesday - fun with wardrobe and makeup. You can tell the cast and crew is really enjoying themselves. The production design was highlighted again and the attention to detail is mind-blowing. I will cry foul if BTG doesn't get all the Technical Emmys next year. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151878-beyond-the-gates-welcome-to-the-neighborhood-et-special/#findComment-8585694
ByaNose February 20 Share February 20 It seemed they were dressed to the nines in every scene. It seemed OTT even for rich people. LOL!!! I’m not rich so that’s maybe why I wear sweats. LOL!!!! It seems like the show is very woman heavy with a few men. It’s gonna take a few weeks for me to straighten them all out. The cast looks very happy. It was funny hearing Karla Mosley saying she didn’t want to move to Atlanta. She’s done NYC and Los Angeles for years. I wonder if most of the cast are renting to see how this shapes out?! The 3 young actresses who had the least experience seemed very excited and a little overwhelmed. I wonder who is going to be the ”it” person and leave after 3 years. LOL!!!!! Tyler Perry’s studios are also in Atlanta so someone is gonna be in one of his movies before we know it. I’m sure of it. Only, a few more days. Fun times ahead. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151878-beyond-the-gates-welcome-to-the-neighborhood-et-special/#findComment-8586265

Somehow I can't imagine a diva like that lounging around in sweats. 🙂 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151878-beyond-the-gates-welcome-to-the-neighborhood-et-special/#findComment-8586559
tessaray February 21 Author Share February 21 Thursday - life and long days on the set, with a side helping of shirtless guys. They're kinda stretching this out. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151878-beyond-the-gates-welcome-to-the-neighborhood-et-special/#findComment-8587173
ByaNose February 24 Share February 24 I’m looking forward to see scenes I haven’t seen. Obviously, they can’t give everything away so this week should be fun. They have the budget and pretty sound cast with newbies thrown in. It all comes down to the writing which on the surface we know should be good but it’s different when it’s long term. We’ll get to see what works and what might need fine tuning or scrapped altogether. I remember when Capitol and Loving first aired. Their first episodes (Loving was a 2 hour special) aired in prime time. That’s about the only thing Beyond The Gates didn’t do which is perfectly fine. We know the general back story of the show but I’m curious what the first big cliffhanger on Friday will be?! You gotta have something big for the first time and have everyone sweating it out until Monday. LOL!!!! Well, it’s only 13 hours and 37 minutes until the first episode but who’s counting?! LOL!!! Have fun everyone and enjoy the show. 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151878-beyond-the-gates-welcome-to-the-neighborhood-et-special/#findComment-8589479
Melgaypet February 24 Share February 24 Okay, I have been losing my mind - the young woman who is playing one of the granddaughters (I think she's playing Daphnee Duplaix's daughter) was reminding me SO STRONGLY of someone and I couldn't think who. Well, I finally did! 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151878-beyond-the-gates-welcome-to-the-neighborhood-et-special/#findComment-8589717
