Curious about posts being altered

In the Elsbeth show thread, “Olivia” is posted as “Olivia”. In the SVU forum, it’s posted as is. What’s up?

And it’s censored here as well.  The original post referred to Queen.    Saint  .  Olivia. Will that go through?

Realized I typed “Queen” when I meant to type “Saint” which just made things more confusing

Now I’m wondering if the word “saint” is being filtered out across the board or only in certain contexts. Saint Patrick. Jill Saint John. Saint Elsewhere. Olivia. 

Let’s see what those look like after I hit post. 
 

whoa! It’s just filtering the word “saint” when it’s in front of the name “Olivia”. I’m guessing there’s a story behind that but it’s probably not going to be made public.

And if anyone is actually reading this and is curious, this was triggered by a semi-off-topic discussion in Elsbeth S02.E08, where someone was trying to describe Olivia Benson’s nickname in her show’s forum, but the word “saint” kept getting filtered out. 

And with that I’ll let it go. I’m sure the mods, admins, and tech folks have enough other stuff to worry about.

For me, even in the screenshot you posted, the word S-a-i-n-t was in what I originally posted, but not in the post as it appears on the forum. BUT only when it precedes the name Olivia. It’s kind of difficult to explain because I can never know if what I type will be what actually gets posted. 
 

and, just realized I typed a wrong word in the original post, which just made it more confusing.  I’ve corrected it now, if you’re still curious.

I think I get it, it’s removing the word in front of that specific name? That IS odd. I thought you were talking about asterisks or symbols being put in, that kind of censorship, which I wasn’t seeing.

Yeah, like I said upthread, there’s probably a story behind that, but unless this random test post captures the attention of someone who was involved originally, we’ll probably never know.

Wasn’t there some issue years ago with trolls on the SVU forum mocking the character of Olivia that way? Wouldn’t surprise me if measures were taken to remove that combination of words to counteract it.

It just sounds like a simple find/replace routine or filter to curb unwanted behavior.
