chediavolo December 17, 2024 Share December 17, 2024 Haven’t seen this show since it first aired. Watched 2 episodes so far and don’t remember anything. Not liking the sisters except the one with the husband who should be seeing a psychiatrist. Cannot stand the mother either, but yes, I am going to watch . Anyone else? 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151133-sisters-general-discussion/
Dimity December 19, 2024 Share December 19, 2024 (edited) I discovered the show Sisters back when I was living in the States. I'd never seen it before and I loved it! Lots of drama, of course, and a young -and gorgeous - George Clooney. My favourite sister was the one played by Sela Ward. And IIRC Swoosie Kurtz wasn't nearly as painfully thin on this show as she has been in shows I've seen her in more recently. It's been years since I've seen it but I remember liking the mother. What is it about her that bothers you @chediavolo? Edited December 19, 2024 by Dimity 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151133-sisters-general-discussion/#findComment-8536776

What is it about her that bothers you @chediavolo? She just seems cold to me. And it made no sense that at 60 something years old she had to move out of her home and into a little apartment just because her daughter’s forced her too. Plus, she really needs to get help for her alcoholism. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151133-sisters-general-discussion/#findComment-8536938
Anela December 19, 2024 Share December 19, 2024 I remember it. One sister marrying the ex-husband of another. Ashley Judd as a teenager. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151133-sisters-general-discussion/#findComment-8536982
babyrambo December 20, 2024 Share December 20, 2024 I heard about this show on an old shows thread a few months ago and have been trying to find a way to watch it in my region but to no avail. Based on the trailers, it looks like just my thing. But during my search for this I ended up watching the WB/CW show Related (2005), which had a similar premise of four sisters with complicated lives. Something about the four friends/sisters dealing with messy situations in a big city angle always works for me, even when it’s cheesy and shallow. Going through the catalogue of older shows I didn’t catch the first time around, I’ve noticed that ‘chick flicks’ were some of the few shows/films that broached women’s issues in any serious and compassionate way. A lot of them haven’t aged well but some of those shows really tried for nuance and care. Still, I’m thankful that there are a lot more complex female lead shows out today. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151133-sisters-general-discussion/#findComment-8537317
Bastet December 29, 2024 Share December 29, 2024 (edited) I think I watched this through its entire run, but I remember only a few things about it: Julianne Phillips was a terrible actor, Cat was raped (and during the trial the sisters have a conversation about date rape - which happened to Georgie - and how it was just called "a bad date" in their day), Falconer got killed, and Patricia Kalember's husband played Georgie's gross therapist with whom she had an affair, and they ditched the opening steam room scenes. I remember liking everyone but Frankie, and really liking Teddy. So it was disappointing to re-watch the pilot and be annoyed by everyone, particularly pathetic Teddy. I'll keep on with it for a bit, though. Edited December 30, 2024 by Bastet Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151133-sisters-general-discussion/#findComment-8542340
