CM-BlueButterfly December 14, 2024 Share December 14, 2024 Thread in question: Wham!: Last Christmas Unwrapped (BBC) Issue reported by @AnimeMania Looks like that's connected to the topic having been moved, having been indexed and that I chose to leave a link to the new location in its old location. For me, it's now marked read, so the issue should have been resolved. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151097-thread-refused-to-be-marked-as-read-remains-highlighted-yellow/
CM-BlueButterfly December 21, 2024 Author Share December 21, 2024 @AnimeMania It looks like "Have I Got News For You" had been indexed in the location it was first created in, so the above applied as well. I de-indexed it which solved the problem for me. Hopefully, that's the case for you as well? I did notice that there is a "Have I Got News For You" thread that is above the "Have I Got News For You" thread that I enter from the link, if that helps. Have I Got News For You is still staying highlighted for me - in the New Shows section, but properly showing as read (un-highlighted) on my Home Page list. I've opened both the thread and the forum above it. First noticed it yesterday but I thought it was probably a work in progress then. CM-BlueButterfly December 22, 2024 Author Share December 22, 2024 Didn't think to check "Recently Added", I only checked "Comedy" and it was un-highlighted there. I also left a link to the new location. That might be the reason it still shows up as highlighted in "Recently Added". CM-BlueButterfly December 22, 2024 Author Share December 22, 2024 It looks like it was. I removed the "left link" manually and the show shows up only for me when I search for it. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151097-thread-refused-to-be-marked-as-read-remains-highlighted-yellow/#findComment-8538773

Anyway, I’m sure y’all have had bigger issues to deal with today so thanks for the follow-up. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151097-thread-refused-to-be-marked-as-read-remains-highlighted-yellow/#findComment-8538780
ebk57 February 4 Share February 4 I think this is the opposite of the problem in the title - 2 forums for SNL specials had originally been created in the Documentary section, but were then moved to the main SNL forum as sub-forums (which is good!). However, new posts in those sub-forums do not highlight the main SNL forum as unread. The only way I knew there were new posts was to see them highlighted in the Recently Added Shows section, and they won't be there for much longer (I'd imagine). Any way they could highlight the main SNL forum when there are new posts? Thanks! 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151097-thread-refused-to-be-marked-as-read-remains-highlighted-yellow/#findComment-8572196
ebk57 February 5 Share February 5 In case this helps (or even matters), the Jeopardy! forum is doing the same thing. There are unread posts in the sub-forum for Celebrity Jeopardy!, but the main Jeopardy! forum on the home page is not highlighted and orange. Thanks again! 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151097-thread-refused-to-be-marked-as-read-remains-highlighted-yellow/#findComment-8573151
CM-BlueButterfly February 6 Author Share February 6 Thank you for the additional information. I wondered if it might have been something I did when I created the subforums but I didn't create the Celebrity Jeopardy forum, so, that's likely not it. Can you say for sure that it's only those two forums and doesn't happen in, for example, NCIS or 90 day fiancé as well? (I marked them read but, of course, no one has posted since). @SoMuchTV tagging you to let you know the issue is addressed here. 🙂 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151097-thread-refused-to-be-marked-as-read-remains-highlighted-yellow/#findComment-8573526
ebk57 February 6 Share February 6 (edited) Those are the only 2 forums I frequent that are having that issue. I have several overarching forums that I'm following on my home page that are in the Nonfiction/Documentary section (NBC Universal, Disney+, PBS, etc.) and those all show up when there are new posts in any of those sub-forums. Same with the Movies and Interests/Hobbies, and Everything Else in the Beyond TV section. Those have sub-forums and when there are new posts only in the sub-forums, they are highlighted on my homepage. Hope that helps - and thanks for looking into this! I actually thought the Jeopardy forum was behaving “correctly” but since there are recent new/upcoming episodes of the two subforums, I’ll try to see how it behaves now. There are unread posts in the sub-forum for Celebrity Jeopardy!, but the main Jeopardy! forum on the home page is not highlighted and orange. For me, it is highlighted. I've read all the threads in the regular J! forum, and previously all the threads in the Pop Culture J! subforum, but not in the Celebrity J! subforum as tonight's episode hasn't aired here yet -- the Jeopardy! forum on my customized home page is not highlighted in yellow, only if I go into it do I see the Celebrity J! subforum is yellow. This is an outlier, and I'm more often annoyed by the opposite -- it's a recurring nuisance that a forum I have on my home page will light up as having unread content, only to find out that content is in a thread within a subforum I have zero interest in. So I have to open that subforum and select Mark as Read to get the yellow highlight of the parent forum to go away. (As an example, my biggest recurring first world problem here is the PBS forum within the Documentaries section, which gets lit up on my home page every time new content is posted to a thread in the Finding Your Roots subforum.) (I figure most people want it to work the way it usually does, not the different way a couple of forums are working that I actually like better -- because I'd rather it always work the way it usually does if I instead had a bunch of forums with subforums where I wanted to know if there was new content in those. So I'm not requesting a change, just adding some information -- and a little personal kvetching.)
