mommalib May 9 Share May 9 (edited) They torturing my man Atwater. He be carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders and he has to learn how to find the balance between caring and caring too much. It seems like they having him go through some final growing pains before he makes detective. That mother is unlikable but she's not wrong in what she said to Atwater, even though I know he did those things from his heart. And it was nice to see Trudy get some screen time, that talk at the end was better coming from her than Voight. Edited May 9 by mommalib 3 2 Link to comment
Nintra16 May 9 Share May 9 LaRoyce is wonderful in everything he does. His mannerisms and delivery is great. I can really see his growth as an actor. The story/plot was okay. They put Atwater through the Halstead treatment when he got Marcus West killed. They need new material. However, this actually wasn't on Atwater. The grieving widow and her husband were supposed to stay put and wait for Atwater, but they decided to run. I felt Trudy's speech at the end. Really resonated on a personal level. 4 Link to comment
Snazzy Daisy May 9 Share May 9 Where’s Adam??! This season is really a let down. Even Kevin centric episodes are underwhelming. His episodes used to be compelling and emotionally intriguing but now they are just stale. Teresa Westbrook continues to be very unlikeable and Butchie is straight up annoying. The only memorable part is Trudy’s advice to Kevin. 😢 “There are two things you can do with guilt. You can let it drown you or let it give you purpose.” 1 Link to comment

It's sad to see, especially with such compelling characters. I have to be honest; I was VERY surprised when they said CPD was renewed for another season. Link to comment

Relationships become secondary. 4 Link to comment
Guildford May 10 Share May 10 The myopic format is doing the show no favours. There is not flow, stories get started, then stopped, then started again, nobody knows when it is going to come around again so it has no flow. No family feel, humour or personal bonding between characters, everyone is siloed into their own story & nothing else. Trauma piled on, then forgotten, no resolution to stories. Cliffhangers that go nowhere. Way too much focus this past two seasons of one character stuck in the same spot. Every second week seems to be the same hamster wheel of misery for Upton, who they constantly keep in this woe is me my husband left me dragnet, whereas Kim, Adam, Kevin have trauma upon trauma & it's just ignored. I think teh case stories are strong enough & interesting but they need to include the whole team, that's when the show was at it's strongest. You can do centric led, where one character is pushed to the fore, but they are way too myopic. Not enough Humour, lightness or Trudy. 3 Link to comment
