I am very disappointed in the Eddie stuff this season thus far. His character has been a total mess. Not just this episode, but the Nun Marisol plot from a couple of episodes ago, it feels very....off for Eddie. Who, I get, he's bottled feelings up constantly but we're on round three of his Shannon trauma and it feels like he's going in circles. There needs to be progress on that end at some point.

It would make more sense if there had been any indication that Shannon and Eddie had some kind of epic love, but that's not at all what we've been shown of their relationship. They were terrible together, and spent more time apart than together. This obsession is just annoying and wreaks of trying to rewrite history — and Eddie's character. What we've seen of him for five seasons — he'd never behave like this. I hate when a show wrecks one of my favourite characters in a way that's unrecoverable. Because not only is Eddie acting like a jerk, the doppelgänger story is creepy as hell.

I thought he and Athena both knew he was gay before they decided to get married. For both of them, the purpose of the marriage was to have a family and "keep up appearances."

I think it was left a bit vague unless there's another scene I don't recall where she admitted she knew.

It's Michael who says she must have known during an argument where she accused him of lying to her.  He says she ignored it because she was a desperate 37-year-old.  I felt it wasn't a good look for him. It felt like he was trying to make her share the responsibility and make him feel better for having hid that.

He only said to her "I'm gay" a few weeks before the pilot episode.

Literally hiring the same actress to play a person who looks like them but in a wig? How very Melrose Place of you, show.

This episode made me sorry that Eddie survived being shot by that sniper.

And this is why I love this forum.

'm not gonna lie, I had no idea the woman playing Shannon was the same woman playing Eddie's new girlfriend, she looked so different with lighter hair.

I had no idea it was the same actress either.  Even when they showed the flashbacks I didn’t make the connection.  It makes more sense now but I still don’t care.

Love MJW.  I know I’m in the minority but I’ve always hated Bobby’s backstory and how he got off killing multiple people including his family.  Every time he starts doling out the advice all I can think is “what about all those people you killed?”  It just completely ruined the character for me.  I really wish this would be a story about how MJW doesn’t forgive him and holds him to task, but I don’t think that will happen.  Bobby is the moral compass of the show which has never sat well with me.
