Shrek January 15 Share January 15 Might give this a try but Sofia Vergara as Griselda makes me question the casting as Griselda Blanco looked very different to Sofia & that worries me a little. If I can get past the main character casting the story itself should be quite interesting. 1 Link to comment
AnimeMania January 19 Author Share January 19 Sofia Vergara and Netflix Sued Over Griselda Blanco Series The lawsuit involving Netflix and Sofia Vergara could possibly block/delay the show's release. Griselda Blanco's son, Michael and a few other family members, were interviewed by Netflix with the hopes of having Michael's life story developed into a book or some kind of TV or film production. Netflix passed on the project, but used some of the interview materials to make some of the Griselda Blanco TV Series. Link to comment
Shrek January 19 Share January 19 I was just reading about the lawsuit on TMZ & their version seems a little different to the one you posted. https://www.tmz.com/2024/01/19/sofia-vergara-sued-netflix-show-griselda-blanco-estate/ Link to comment
AnimeMania January 19 Author Share January 19 I guess the interview wasn't by Netflix, but by someone else who tried to shop it to Netflix and other sources. Link to comment
Sailorgirl26 January 28 Share January 28 I wanted to like this and was expecting more drama/oomph along the lines of Narcos. But this was just . . . meh. It dragged. They never really established her as the Queenpin of Miami -- they made her seem weak and desperate the entire time, not strong and in control. 2 Link to comment
gaPeach February 5 Share February 5 Quote January 28 I wanted to like this and was expecting more drama/oomph along the lines of Narcos. But this was just . . . meh. It dragged. They never really established her as the Queenpin of Miami -- they made her seem weak and desperate the entire time, not strong and in control. I too was surprised at how they portrayed her in this series. She seemed to always be on the outside looking in, but when she did finally get what she wanted it skipped over several years only to pick up when she started smoking crack and losing her mind. I loved the series anyway. Great sets and clothes. Very 80s. 1 Link to comment
Joimiaroxeu August 12 Share August 12 (edited) I'm two-thirds of the way through and just cannot keep comparing it unfavorably to Queen of the South. This miniseries feels like an attempt at an Emmy grab for Sofia Vergara. Not for the acting so much as for the facial prosthetics. Also, the subtitles were fine but I wish it had been advertised more that the show's dialogue was mostly in Spanish. However, I appreciate Netflix continuing to make a commitment to productions which aren't in English or predominantly in English. Edited August 12 by Joimiaroxeu Link to comment
