The 8 episode "Beacon 23" Sci-Fi TV Series is airing the first 2 episodes on November 12, 2023 on MGM+ at 9pm. 

The "Beacon 23" TV Series is based on five short stories that became the 2015 sci-fi novel "Beacon 23" by Hugh Howey. This TV Series was originally commissioned by Spectrum Originals and AMC Networks before both companies backed away from the series, allowing it to be picked up by MGM+. Season 2 of the series was filmed right after the completion of Season 1.

The Beacon 23 TV Series is a suspenseful sci-fi thriller and love story. Beacon 23 takes place in the 23rd century, in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way and every Beacon, a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers, is run by one highly trained human and a specialized Artificial Intelligence. Halan Kai Nelson is a lonely stoic ex-military man, living in complete solitude at the edge of the universe, a condition that is eating away at his sanity, plagued by the scars and secrets of the past. Aster Calyx is a government agent that just happens to crash-land onto Beacon 23. Halan and Aster are trapped together and a tense battle of wills unfolds. They each begin to question whether the other can be trusted. Are they friends or foes? Aster's ability to disguise her agenda and motives, makes her a formidable opponent. A hostile invasion forces them to work together to defend themselves. When an object called The Artifact appears, they work together to unravel its mysteries, and develop a deep bond just in time to face a deadly AI.

Really cool moments during Episode 5... Solomon was a riot and i could have had a full mini series of his dailylife on Beacon 23 before Halan. Now, as he abandoned Halan when he was requesting help, our protagonist was rightfully pissed and him crapping all over Solomon's cuisine was warranted and funny. The rocks finally start to reveal their secret... let's see where it leads.

The eight episode Beacon 23 season 2 will premiere on MGM+ in April 2024.

I really wanted to like this but just don't.  I'm not sure what the actual plot is and what's so special about these rocks.  It seems more than half of the episodes are flashbacks too which doesn't help.
