paramitch November 10, 2023 Share November 10, 2023 (edited) I think a lot of people are confused about this, so just a note that bourbon is a form of whiskey. It is even referred to as "bourbon whiskey" in some areas. However -- people saying they've seen pies with "whiskey but not bourbon" -- it's still possible, because all bourbons are whiskeys, but not all whiskeys are bourbons. To quote Food & Wine: Quote All whiskey is spirit made from fermented grain and then aged in barrels. But the kind of grain and the kind of barrels determines the variety of whiskey. Per the American Bourbon Association, in order to be classified as bourbon, a whiskey needs to be distilled from a mixture of grains, or mash, that's at least 51% corn. That corn gives bourbon its distinctive sweet flavor. I hope this helps! Also, as a southern-raised woman, I have had some glorious pecan pies with bourbon in them. Jordan Baker November 18, 2023 Share November 18, 2023 I knew Nicky and Rowan were goners, but I was still sad to see them go. Both had very winning personalities, and both made me laugh. I do agree somewhat with those who find Dan a bit arrogant, but I'm willing to admit that I'm still ticked off that he survived (over Abbi) in spite of his having a bad, underbaked Showstopper. Josh is my favorite. I know he's an engineer/scientist of some kind, but I don't think I knew until this episode that he has a PhD. What is the correlation between engineers/scientists and baking? Is it precision? Innovation? Both? 2 Link to comment
