merylinkid May 1, 2023 Share May 1, 2023 I binged the entire thing last night. Which is not something I really do. I usually need to take a break. But the episodes were short enough that it wasn't tiring. It was a nice show. No one is an asshole. The daughter is a smart ass but she and her dad seem to have a good relationship. The team seems to be good at their jobs while also not being so intense they are jerks. the storylines were fun. Best part - Peyton Manning shows up fairly often. He's executive producer so if he wants to be on -- he gets to be on. but its so funny watching him ask if his stuff is worth more than Eli's. he is so competitive. 2 Link to comment
Kel Varnsen June 6 Share June 6 (edited) I watched the whole season over the last week and it was neat. I liked that it focused mostly focused on the stuff and there are no dumb, poorly acted skits, where someone has to clean out the stock room or go get lunch. I was surprised some of those modern super rare cards had such a high value. I mean sure that triple logo man card was one of a kind. But there isn't anything stopping the card company from making a LeBron triple all star logo man card or something else that would dilute the value of your card. And when you are dropping millions that seems like a huge risk. The Godfather house plan seems weird too. I feel like making it a replica Godfather house would shrink the market of people who would want to buy it vs just having a giant house in New York City. I would be surprised if hardcore Godfather fans would pay enough of a premium to make up for all the possible buyers you would lose. Also a couple of other small things. That guy in Puerto Rico with the crazy basketball jersey collection was just a very rich hoarder. And I can't believe that the dude with that huge collection of baseball cards and other paper items was keeping them in his uninsulated attic. Edited June 7 by Kel Varnsen Link to comment
Kel Varnsen June 16 Share June 16 Ugh stared watching season 2 and I am about 3 episodes in. And so far it seems like they have amped up everything that would annoy me about a show like this. The episodes all seem longer so there seems like a lot more filler. More celebrity talking heads about how much they love Goldin and Ken. More employee back stuff, I do not give a shit about that dumbass promising a played video and then not getting it and the lecture from his boss, since it's obviously fake. And worst of all are the filler scenes with Ken's annoying daughter. They did this last season too but I wish they did pop-ups of what the items actually sold for, since the estimates are useless. Although I did notice there was no follow up on the Godfather house since maybe someone realized it is a terrible idea. Link to comment
IdEatThat June 18 Share June 18 I just finished season 2. I like the show and it’s easy to watch, short episodes. I’m amazed at the value of the trading cards though. I also like Ken and his daughter and the rest of the crew. However, it does feel like they overpromise and underdeliver which is why we don’t see the final selling price of many items. Frequently their pitch to get someone to consign with them is that Goldin is “going to be” the top in that category. I’m sorry, I’d want to consign with a house that is already the top in the category. Don’t make your bones on me. Link to comment

I wish you would get more follow up too. I mean I get that it's probably months sometimes between getting the seller to agree and the actual auction, but it also probably takes months to finish a show. So a little graphic with the final sell price would be interesting. 1 hour ago, IdEatThat said: I’m amazed at the value of the trading cards though. It's crazy to me too. I mean I get that a lot of them are one of a kind, items. But if there are 100's of different one of a kind Lebron James cards or something how can they all be worth millions. Link to comment
IdEatThat June 20 Share June 20 Sadly, Willie Mays passed yesterday, my second thought, after oh, how sad, was that Ken probably has a Willie Mays auction up already. I know that sounds snarky, I do actually like the guy. Link to comment
Kel Varnsen June 22 Share June 22 That Cleopatra hand was super gross. Even though it is literally ancient, it's still a human body part. If I met someone that was a body part collector I would thing they were super weird. Link to comment
Kel Varnsen June 27 Share June 27 Finished the season last night. It was ok,. although I didn't care for the fake "we need $30 million in pop culture" drama since it wasted time and I had no doubt they were going to hit the target. The funniest thing though was in the final episode how Ken's hair would go from its usual brown to like dark black depending on the scene. Link to comment
