DisneyBoy September 10, 2022 Share September 10, 2022 (edited) Does him being John's son make any kind of sense? No. Does that prevent us from enjoying him (a little)? No. Here's to Salem's former pro-baseball player and model, part-time super spy and one-time WilSon interloper. Ok, two-time WilSon interloper. Or is it three? norcalgal September 10, 2022 Share September 10, 2022 I first saw the actor on the show Hawaii 5-0 as a psycho semi recurring criminal. On Days, he’s soooo different. I guess that’s why it’s called acting! Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133495-the-retconned-paul-narita-thread/#findComment-7642843
methodwriter85 September 10, 2022 Share September 10, 2022 I know him from a YouTube web show he did called the Lizzie Bennett Diaries. I'm thrilled he's been making some pretty steady work. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133495-the-retconned-paul-narita-thread/#findComment-7642894
RedElf September 10, 2022 Share September 10, 2022 I read that the actor who plays Li auditioned for the role of Paul. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133495-the-retconned-paul-narita-thread/#findComment-7643338

Pearson80 September 10, 2022 Share September 10, 2022 Paul should have been a villain with no relation to John. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133495-the-retconned-paul-narita-thread/#findComment-7643528
DisneyBoy September 10, 2022 Author Share September 10, 2022 Virtuous John Black was a priest and constantly on camera in the 90s...when he supposedly had a random affair with a lady we never heard of, resulting in Paul's conception. I just need to reiterate that for anyone who missed it. That's really the origin story they went with. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133495-the-retconned-paul-narita-thread/#findComment-7643609

Like the saying goes “you can’t fix stupid” and that’s what the writers were (and still are if they never retcon their retcon). 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133495-the-retconned-paul-narita-thread/#findComment-7643699

I still can't believe nobody in the writing room went, "Hey, aren't we basically doing yellowface with Ling?" when they were coming up with the storyline. It's stuff like that which really makes me wonder if everyone in the writing room is smoking crack or whatever with the stuff they come up with. If the show came up with a Caucasian-appearing man who called himself "Omar", wore dreads and a dashiki, and said he was like this because he spent his life in Africa following the Clinton-era invasion of Somalia, this would have been flamed beyond the telling of it. DisneyBoy September 13, 2022 Author Share September 13, 2022 I'm honestly not too sure quite what they were going for with Yo Ling. The only good (?) part was Viv poking fun at her former nephew afterwards and asking if John would treat her to dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Their relationship hadn't really been referenced in years. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133495-the-retconned-paul-narita-thread/#findComment-7647626
DisneyBoy December 2 Author Share December 2 Well he's finally engaged, and it occurs to me he was in this position before, with painful consequences. Wait, did he propose to Sonny both times he got turned down? I can't remember... I hope the show gives us some more time with Andrew and Paul before they get married and (presumably) disappear again. With Ron leaving the head writer position and the way things are politically in the States right now, I don't think we're going to get much opportunity to see a gay male couple in Salem moving forward and I'm curious how they'd be written after how Wilson were treated as the fledgling gay married couple over a decade ago. It already feels like their relationship is something of a mystery. They were paired up within 5 episodes of meeting each other and have spent almost their entire courtship off camera. Who are they? What are their dynamics? 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133495-the-retconned-paul-narita-thread/#findComment-8522199
