S03.E04: Ring

Quite an intense episode, a bit gruesome, I love it. The tension build-up has been carefully choreographed.

The mystery door in the attic, now we know that it leads to their home gym/dance studio.

Sylvia (Tobe’s gf) is the worst, so rude and obnoxious. She deserves it!

What a rollercoaster day for Leanne. Strangers in the house and Dorothy has to leave for work, ruining her cooking plan with Sean. But in the end, Leanne gets what she wants - Sylvia gone and Dorothy will be spending more time at home, with her and Jericho. What a manifestation of power/curse. The real puppet master in the Turner’s household.

Leanne insists that she will never let anything happen to Jericho and Sean, she says nothing about Dorothy though. Weird.

I have changed my mind about those homeless people. I think they are the former members of the cult. Leanne escaping the cult to build a new life could have inspired them to do the same.

The scene where Leanne is dancing in the attic, unbothered, it is so symbolic and almost ritualistic. It’s a victory dance, and Tobe’s ring is some kind of trophy.

The way those people looking up to her, it’s like they’re worshiping her, ready to serve their new master. Am guessing they will be her allies in facing the cult. The guy who approaches Leanne at the front door, he seems harmless and probably just want to talk.

I feel like I want this season to get moving, but at the same time, I really enjoyed this episode, too.  Are we supposed to think that Leanne could have caused the finger severing and Dorthy's humiliation in order to maintain her family unit?

If we want to go a step further, maybe she took a page from Wanda in WandaVision and is controlling the minds of the homeless people, which is why they are gathering in packs and staring at her, not because they're part of the cult.

Meanwhile, the girlfriend was almost too obnoxious to believe.  Even if she were truly that nasty to Tobe, would she be so open about it in front of Sean?  More puzzling, he seemed to adopt her attitude toward Tobe and yelled at him in the same way.  Could Leanne have made her more obnoxious than she would normally be in order to make Tobe break up with her?

I think this season is better than season 2. The Uncle George and Aunt Josephine’s arcs kind of fell flat for me.

What if Jericho who’s causing all the chaos in the kitchen? He’s there the whole time right? And Sylvia trips over his baby food.

Do you think it was significant that Tobe "couldn't find" the homeless people to feed? I don't think he was making that up.

Was the 'safety' guy putting the moves on Leanne significant?

What about last week's reveal that Sean was once apparently homeless?

I think they are significant - Toby couldn’t find the homeless people and Sean was once homeless. We also should not forget the story about Veera given up her baby.

I guess the Safety Specialist is there just to add more chaos in Leanne’s day. In the end, he isn’t “punished” for his bad behaviour, unlike Sylvia.

In earlier seasons, many would think that Leanne is the servant - to the cult and for the Turners. What if the actual servant is Sean? He is always on the supporting role to the other characters. He has been tested with physical manifestations of something - the hand’s blister and lost of taste. He’s unable to lead his self-absorbed wife. Is it possible that after Jericho’s death, Sean has surrendered himself to a higher power for a second chance with Jericho, then enters Leanne? Leanne says she will protect Jericho and Sean…🤔

And at least Dorothy's not beating Leanne and burying her alive... at least not yet.

Though we may not have seen the last of him.

That could be.  The servant could also be someone we haven't met yet.  Maybe the man with a hook who takes eyes?
